I’m a big fan of party food. We host parties a lot (like more than any other people I know). We usually grill, so Pete is in charge of that, and I’m in charge of appetizers, sides, and desserts. I like one bite appetizers, honestly, because people can just grab one and pop it into your mouth while you’re on the go or talking. You don’t need to sit and pull out a knife and fork.
It keeps the flow of the party going a lot better than if everyone had to stop what they’re doing, grab a plate, find a seat, and then eat.
It’s like a cocktail hour at a wedding. You can just pop some food in your mouth and mingle.
If you agree, and you’ve been getting tired of making the same appetizer, our list of one bite appetizers is for you.
Now, quick note. We kept this to one bite appetizers, officially, called “amuse-bouche”. They can also be referred to as “amuse-gueule” although that’s less common. Amuse-bouche refers to single bite appetizers or hors d’œuvre.
For me, most one bite appetizers are two bites, but for Pete, they’re one. So I tried to keep that in mind. That’s why bruschetta is on the list even though I absolutely don’t eat it in one bite.
Types Of Appetizers
Small aside, but even though we use the term appetizers as a generality, there are nine different types of appetizers: apertif cocktails, canapes, chips and dip, finger foods, fruits and vegetables, hors d’oeuvres, petite salad, relishes/crudites, and anything (smaller).
Here’s the breakdown of what each is, in case you want to impress people at a party.
- Apertif Cocktails: Before dinner drinks that stimulate the appetite.
- Canapes: Small bits of food served on a piece of bread, toast, cracker, or pastry (example: Avocado Toast Bruschetta)
- Chips & Dip: Any paring of dips and potato chips, crackers, or vegetables to dip into them (example: Spinach & Artichoke Dip)
- Finger Foods: Appetizers that you eat sans utensils, but may be more than just a single bite (example: Chicken Teriyaki Wings)
- Fruits & Vegetables: Any mix of fruits and vegetables or fruits or vegetables (example: Charcuterie)
- Hors d’oeuvres: One bite appetizers classified as either “passed” or “stationary” (served at a table).
- Petite Salad: Small servings of salad, served before a full meal.
- Crudites/Relishes: Vegetables, either sliced or whole, either pickled or dipped in a vinaigrette, often served with a dip.
- Anything (smaller): A catch all for any appetizer that’s tiny and can be eaten with fingers and little mess.

One Bite Appetizers With Meat

Stuffed Jalapeño Poppers
If you like jalapeño poppers, but you don’t love stuffing and wrapping each one, these Stuffed Jalapeño Poppers are for you.
They have all the flavors of jalapeño poppers, like bacon and cream cheese, but are much less work.

Peaches With Prosciutto And Mozzarella
Fresh peaches are paired with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese, then topped with balsamic glaze, to make this delicious Peaches With Prosciutto And Mozzarella appetizer.
They’re easy to make and get devoured in minutes.

Grilled Eggplant, Prosciutto & Mozzarella Roll Ups
For a summer party, make these Grilled Eggplant, Prosciutto & Mozzarella Roll Ups appetizers.
Prosciutto and mozzarella are stuffed into a slice of eggplant that’s rolled and grilled. It’s the perfect way to kick off a backyard barbeque.

Sweet And Spicy Jelly Meatballs
These Sweet And Spicy Jelly Meatballs are a play on the really popular grape jelly meatballs people make.
But, we use red pepper jelly, which is a little less sweet and a little more craveable.

Slow Cooker Sweet And Spicy Meatballs
If you want to make the meatballs above, but you need to keep your stovetop free, these Slow Cooker Sweet And Spicy Meatballs are made in the (you guessed it) slow cooker.
They’re the same flavors, just different cooking methods.

Slow Cooker BBQ Sausage Bites
These Slow Cooker BBQ Sausage Bites are an unexpected appetizer because everyone is gonna look in your slow cooker expecting meatballs, but it’ll be sausage.
Your guests will like the taste and you’ll like how easy they are to make.

Jalapeño Jelly Meatballs
If you want an appetizer with a little kick, these Jalapeño Jelly Meatballs are perfect.
We actually have a recipe for the jalapeño jelly in the post, but the meatballs are store bought.

Wonton Taco Cups
Making tacos for a crowd is a lot of work. But making Wonton Taco Cups is so much easier.
Plus, your guests can eat them in a single bite, which means the party doesn’t slow down because of broken taco shells.

Goat Cheese Prosciutto Lingonberry Jam Bruschetta
Our Goat Cheese Prosciutto Lingonberry Jam Bruschetta is the perfect Thanksgiving appetizer because lingoberry is similar to cranberry, in both color and flavor.
Plus, this gives you a break from the usual Thanksgiving foods.

Pigs In A Blanket
My absolute favorite appetizer is Pigs In A Blanket. I can eat a whole tray myself.
Your guests probably love them too. So if you want an appetizer that won’t leave leftovers, this is it.

Cornbread Sausage Balls
Our Cornbread Sausage Balls are a really poppable appetizer that come together in just minutes.
Plus, they’re a great way to use up any leftover corn muffin mix that you bought on sale but didn’t use for the holidays.

Wonton Pizza Cups
Everyone loves pizza, but serving it at a party usually means ordering a ton of pies. Not anymore.
These Wonton Pizza Cups are just like pizza, but in appetizer form.

Loaded Poutine Twice Baked Potatoes
The reason these Loaded Poutine Twice Baked Potatoes are on the list are because they use mini potatoes, which you can eat in one bite, rather than regular sized potatoes (which, obviously, you can’t).
These potatoes are cooked twice, which takes some time, but they’re worth it.

Corn Dog Muffins
Everyone likes corn dogs, but no one wants to chomp down on one at a party. Enter our Corn Dog Muffins to the rescue.
They’re all the flavors of corn dogs but in one bite form.

Bacon-Wrapped Cocktail Wieners
One of our most popular appetizer recipes is the Bacon-Wrapped Cocktail Wieners.
I got it from a friend whose family used to make it for all of their gatherings and after the first time I made it, I understood why. It’s sweet and salty and delicious.

Pizza Cones
A fun way to serve something pizza-esque at your party is this Pizza Cones recipe.
It’s pizza ingredients wrapped up in tortillas, then cut and baked together to make a tasty appetizer.

Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
If you like pizza rolls, but would rather make them at home, you need to try our Air Fryer Pizza Rolls.
You can customize them to your taste and (dare I say) they’re better than the boxed ones.
One Bite Appetizers With Seafood

Spicy Tuna Cucumber Bites
A light party appetizer, which would be perfect for something like a tea party, are these Spicy Tuna Cucumber Bites.
The cucumber is the perfect light base for the spicy tuna fish.

Crab Rangoon
Crab Rangoon is such a good add on to your Chinese food take out order, but if you want to serve it as an appetizer, but don’t want to order out, you can just make it at home.
These Crab Rangoon are made in a wonton wrapper, which makes the recipe super easy.

Chili Lime Shrimp Wonton Cups
I made these Chili Lime Shrimp Wonton Cups as a Christmas appetizer a couple years ago and they went so quickly, it was crazy.
So if you’re looking for something your guests will love, this appetizer is it.

Spicy Tuna Jalapeño Poppers
For a fun twist on jalapeño poppers, go with these Spicy Tuna Jalapeño Poppers.
The canned tuna makes them a little more substantial and are probably something your guests haven’t seen before.
Vegetarian One Bite Appetizers

Cucumber Hummus Bites
I love making these Cucumber Hummus Bites for our summer parties. They’re really light and fresh and a good balance for the heavy grilled foods we’re serving later.
You can serve them any season, but I love using fresh cucumbers from the garden for them.

Pizza Bombs
A really fun way to serve pizza without serving pizza is by making these Pizza Bombs.
All of the ingredients of pizza are stuffed into refrigerated biscuits and then baked until it’s golden brown. Serve with pizza sauce for dipping.

Spanakopita Puff Pastry Bites
If you like spanikopita, but you don’t want to make it (because dealing with phyllo dough is a lot), make our Spanakopita Puff Pastry Bites instead.
It’s the flavors of spanikopita, but in puff pastry instead of phyllo dough. Plus, these are a one-bite appetizer rather than a sit down meal.

Deviled Eggs with Tajin Seasoning
Everyone loves Deviled Eggs. That’s a given.
So when you’re planning your next party menu, definitely add our Deviled Eggs with Tajin Seasoning. They’re a little different than classic deviled eggs, and (in my opinion) so much better.

Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms
Stuffed mushrooms are a classic one-bite appetizer, so definitely go with these Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms for your next party.
They just feel so party-like, don’t they?

Grilled Zucchini And Feta Rolls
I love any excuse to add feta into a recipe, so when we’re grilling, I love to throw these Grilled Zucchini And Feta Rolls on the grill first to get an appetizer out to our guests.
They come together quickly and are on the table quickly too.

Avocado Toast Bruschetta
My current go to appetizer is Avocado Toast Bruschetta. I make it for every gathering, it seems.
You can tweak it to fit your tastebuds, but if you make it exactly as the recipe is written, I guarantee your guests will love it.

Lasagna Cups
Lasagna is a good meal for a dinner party, but if you want to make it into an appetizer, go with our Lasagna Cups.
They’re all the flavors of lasagna but in bite-sized form.

Mini Tomato Pies
Tomato pie is so popular for dinner. But, if you are having guests over just for appetizers, you can make these Mini Tomato Pies instead.
It’s one bite of tomato pie — one really satisfying bite.

Kale Pesto Bruschetta
Kale pesto is one of my favorite things that Pete makes. When we have leftovers, we turn it into Kale Pesto Bruschetta.
It’s such a good appetizer, especially if you’re serving something Italian for dinner.

Guacamole Wonton Cups
I love guacamole, but it’s hard to serve as an appetizer because you get worried about people hovering and dipping (or double dipping).
So instead, I serve these Guacamole Wonton Cups, which is basically guacamole in single serving form.

Mini Brie Grilled Cheese With Chimichurri
When we went to Nashville, we had Mini Brie Grilled Cheese With Chimichurri as an appetizer and of course, I had to come home and immediately recreate it.
We eat them as a snack dinner, but they’re so good as an appetizer for a tea party or something similar.

Air Fryer Wonton Mozzarella Sticks
I love mozzarella sticks and will buy them all the time. And , if I’m having a party, I like making these Air Fryer Wonton Mozzarella Sticks for our guests.
They’re easier to make than you expect and don’t take up any oven space (since you make them in the air fryer).

Broccoli Rabe Bruschetta
For Pete’s birthday a few years ago, we made this Broccoli Rabe Bruschetta appetizer because he loves broccoli rabe.
The vegetable is a little bitter, but it’s offset by the cool goat cheese.

Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups
As we’ve said, jalapeño poppers are a great appetizer.
But, if you don’t want to serve large jalapeños to your guests (I get it), make these Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups. They’re all the flavors of jalapeño poppers, but in an easier to eat form.

Spooky Bruschetta
If you’re looking for an appetizer for a Halloween party, our Spooky Bruschetta — which I refer to as Boo-schetta every time I make it — is it.
I brought it to a party this year and it was the first (and only) appetizer to completely go.
Which of these one bite appetizers do you want to make first? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
