When we have parties, my favorite thing is coming up with new appetizers to serve. I always want to make something that everyone will eat (because I don’t want a ton of leftovers) and something that people may have never had before. That’s how I ended up with Pizza Cones.
We were calling them pizza cones and pizza roll ups, so feel free to call these whatever you prefer.
I found a recipe online (which no longer exists) for something very similar. So I used that recipe as inspiration, but then made it my own.
You know, like this is American Idol food edition.
Pizza Cones
What You’ll Need:
- 20 small flour tortillas
- 8oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 40 pieces pepperoni
- 1/2 cup pasta sauce
What You’ll Do:
Pre-heat the oven to 360.
Put a glass bowl in the center of a cookie sheet.
Cut the tortillas in half.
Spread pasta sauce on a tortilla half.
Sprinkle a little shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
Add two slices of pepperoni.
Roll the tortilla from one “point” to the other. Set it upside down on the cookie sheet, making sure the cut side rests against the glass bowl.
Continue making pizza cones until you have finished half the tortillas. By then, you should have made a full row around the glass bowl.
Spread some shredded mozzarella on top of the row of pizza cones.
Make pizza cones using the rest of the tortillas, setting these ones on top of the first row. Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on top.
Remove the glass bowl.
Bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tortillas start to crisp.
Take the cookie sheet out, put the glass bowl back in the center, and fill it with pasta sauce for dipping.
Serve warm.
