I have a sweet and spicy meatball recipe that I’m in love with. It’s a huge hit every time I bring it to a party or serve it at one of ours. The trouble, though, is you have to watch it on the stove. The syrup that’s formed can quickly turn into a caramel, and if you’re not looking, it gets ruined in an instant. So when I was putting together our menu for our annual New Year’s Eve party, I knew I had to adapt. Instead, I made Slow Cooker Sweet And Spicy Meatballs.
Our guests loved them. And I loved how hands off the recipe was. I didn’t change the ingredients from my stove-cooked sweet and spicy meatballs. All I changed was the cooking method and time.
Making these on the slow cooker freed me — and the stove top — up to make a few other appetizers for our party, plus gave me time to clean up too.

Slow Cooker Sweet And Spicy Meatballs Ingredients:
- 1 package (30 count) frozen meatballs
- 10 oz. jar red pepper jelly
- 1 cup habanero barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili paste
How To Make Slow Cooker Sweet And Spicy Meatballs:
Dump the frozen meatballs into the slow cooker.
Pour the other ingredients in and stir until the meatballs are coated.
Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
Turn the slow cooker on “warm” to serve.
Now, what I do, actually, is I move the meatballs from the slow cooker to a small covered casserole pan and put it on the table with the rest of the appetizers. That’s less bulky than the slow cooker. I then take the remaining “syrup” and store it in the fridge for the next time we have spaghetti. It’s a great alternative to marinara sauce.
