When we moved to North Carolina, we moved near a McAlister’s Deli. So the first McAlister’s Free Tea Day after we moved was a big deal. We went on a date, I posted about it on the blog, and we had a good time.
Once my parents moved to North Carolina, I started taking my mom every year. She had never been, so I was excited to bring her.
If you want to bring someone out for the famous tea, July 20th is your day. That’s the 15th annual Free Tea Day at McAlister’s Deli.
Oddly enough, McAlister’s free tea day never falls on National Iced Tea Day. That’s July 10 every year.
Free Tea Day Day is just one of the fun random holidays that is celebrated annually.

Free Tea Day At McAlister’s Deli
On Thursday, July 20, customers can get a free 32 oz tea at McAlister’s Deli, no purchase necessary.
If you’re not a plain tea fan, you’re in luck it’s actually more than just tea. The free tea offer includes all tea beverages, so sweet tea, unsweet tea, half unsweet tea/half sweet tea, half tea/half lemonade, or LTO Tropical Tea (where available). The offer includes one flavor shot.
This excludes all non-tea beverages and kid’s beverages.
You have two ways to get your free drink.
The offer is one per person in-store. So, in that case, you would just head to the counter, order your drink, and that’s it. For in-store orders, you can dine in or just take it to go.
If you’re ordering ahead, you can get up to four free teas per app order or order placed on the McAlister’s deli website. Just make sure to add them to your order before you checkout and complete your order.
This offer is not valid on third-party delivery orders or with certain offers and rewards.

McAlister’s Free Tea Day is July 20, 2023.
Free Tea Day changes annually. It’s always the third Thursday of July, so it’s the same day but a different date each year.
Anyone, regardless of if you’re a Tea Pass member or not, can get a free tea on Free Tea Day.
Tea Pass is McAlister Deli’s “unlimited” drink program, very similar to Circle K’s Sip & Save or Panera’s Unlimited Sip Club. For $6.99, Tea Pass members get one tea each day for 30 days. The Tea Pass can be redeemed with online orders or in store.
This is different than McAlister’s Rewards Program, which is the sandwich shop’s free loyalty program. With that, you accumulate points per purchase, which can be redeemed for free food and drinks. Being a member also entitles you to special offers and a free birthday treat (which, rumor has it, is a cookie).
In 2021, McAlister’s Deli held a contest where you could post a photo of you and your tea on social media with the hashtag #TeaSelfie for a chance to win some McAlister’s swag all day long. That contest hasn’t happened since 2021, though.
