I know what you’re gonna say. Before I even type any words, I know what you’re going to say. “The holidays are busy. I don’t have time to craft.”

I get it. The holidays are busy. You’re spending time decorating, baking cookies, attending holiday parades and tree lightings, shopping for gifts … all while working and taking care of your regular life. So sure, you might not have time to craft.

But. Hear me out.

These DIY Snow Globe Mason Jar Toppers For Candy Holders only take minutes to make. I’m serious. Minutes. And if you’re making a bunch of them, you can make a whole assembly line of them and make a gifts for a bunch of friends at once. Plus, these mason jar snow globe toppers are really the cutest thing when you’re done. So you’ll be so happy you made them.

And I promise you, these are quick to make. Usually, I start getting involved in a craft and it ends up taking me so much longer than I expected. But this Christmas craft, you can make it while you’re watching a show on Netflix rather than just scrolling Instagram on your phone.

The only part of this cute craft that could slow you down is waiting for the glue to dry before moving on to the next step. So, while you’re waiting for that, you can scroll social media. Or put a couple ornaments up on the Christmas tree.

DIY Snow Globe Mason Jar Toppers Supplies:

How To Make DIY Snow Globe Mason Jar Toppers:

A Santa, tree, and two candy canes on a white paper on a mason jar lid.

Twist off the top of the mason jar.

Take the canning cap and use it to cut a paper circle from the white cardstock.

Use the white glue to glue that paper down to the top of the canning cap (that’s the flat inner circle part of the lid).

Use the hot glue to glue down the mini Christmas figurines to the white paper circle.

You can make a cute snowy scene or just haphazardly add some figurines. It’ll be a cute gift either way.

A snow globe top glued to a mason jar ring.

Add a thin line of hot glue around the edge of the snow globe mason jar topper. Stick it to the mason jar’s metal rim (that’s the round outer portion of the mason jar lid).

Fake snow in a snow globe.

Once the glue cools, add some of the artificial flake fake snow to the inside of the snow globe topper.

The more fake snow you add, the cuter these will look. At the very least, you want to add enough for a solid layer that covers the white paper.

A mason jar lid.

Stick the canning cap (figurine side in) into the snow globe mason jar topper. It’ll fit perfectly and you don’t need to add any glue to keep it in.

If you’re worried about it slipping or the faux snow falling out when your recipient opens this, though, you could add a thin layer of glue where the inner part of the lid touches the rim. Just make sure it’s really thin so that you can still fit the top on when you close it.

A red and white striped chocolate being put in a mason jar.

Fill the mason jar with Christmas chocolates. That’s what we used. Alternatively, you could fill it with hot chocolate mix packets and mini candy cane packages too. Anything that’s packaged with a wrapper would work.

A cotton ball being put in a mason jar.

Add in some cotton balls and faux snow.

Battery operated fairy lights being put in a mason jar.

Then, add battery operated fairy lights. If you’re going to give these to your gift recipient right away, you can turn the lights on now. If not, wait until you’re going to gift this (because you don’t want the batteries to die).

A snow globe lid twisted onto a mason jar.

Twist the top of the mason jar back onto the bottom.

A blue ribbon tied between a snow globe lid and a mason jar.

Tie a ribbon around the mason jar’s metal rim. Adjust the ribbon so the bow is at the front and the flat part is at the back of the jar.

DIY Snow Globe Mason Jar Toppers For Candy Holders: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use any other glass jars for these?

The majority of the snow globe mason jar toppers that you can purchase online are designed to specifically fit the top of a mason jar. So, they might not fit on any random glass jars you find (like empty spaghetti sauce jars). So we suggest a standard size mason jar for this craft.

If you can’t find any mason jars in your stores, you could try measuring the top of your jars, then finding a clear plastic ornament that fits. Open it in half and use half of the ornament for your snow globe scene.

Can you fill the jar with baked goods?

If you’re baking homemade Christmas cookies for gifting, and you want to use these mason jars as the packaging, you’ll want to put the cookies in plastic treat bags before adding them to the mason jar.

Mason jars are food safe, however, since you’re working with artificial flake fake snow, you can transfer that from the snow globe portion from the top of the jar into the bottom of the jar. And that’s not food safe. Also, if you’re adding the fairy lights, that’s not food safe either.

So, you want to package your baked goods in a way without any cross contamination.

What else can you fill the snow globe mason jars with?

You can fill the jar with any sort of wrapped food, like chocolates, hard candies, hot cocoa mix, etc. You could also skip edible gifts completely and add gift cards or any small gifts that fit in the bottom of the jar instead.

Be creative. This is your gift.

Where can you get mini Christmas figurines?

You can find mini Christmas figurines at the Dollar Tree or your local craft store. Of course, you can order them online as well.

If you can’t find any, you can use miniature ornaments instead.

It look cute. One question: where do you get the clear dome that makes the snow globe?
