I wasn’t really a fan of coffee until a few years ago. And now, I’m making up for lost time. Whenever we’re on vacation, we stop into a cute local coffee shop to relax. And we have a ton of coffee dates at home — with special engraved glasses.

We actually have a bunch of fun coffee stuff at home, items that we’ve bought for ourselves or I’ve gotten for Pete as gifts throughout the years.

If you’re shopping for a coffee fan, you’re in luck. We put together this list of the best gifts for coffee lovers. This gift guide includes a few items that we own and just absolutely love, plus a few that I would love to have in our home.

These are all great gifts for coffee drinkers. They’d also make really good Secret Santa gifts for coffee lovers. And that’s pretty helpful actually because so many people write “coffee” as a like on their office Secret Santa list. Or for stocking stuffers too.

A silver coffee canister next to a coffee pot on a counter.

Airtight Coffee Canister

We can fit a full bag of coffee in our Airtight Coffee Canister, which keeps the coffee fresher than if you kept it in an open bag (which, obviously, isn’t airtight after you open it).

After you add the coffee, you track the date you put it in on the top, then change the filter when necessary. It’s easy. And keeps your coffee fresh.

VSSL Coffee Grinder

To say Pete is obsessed with the VSSL Coffee Grinder would be an understatement. He loves it that much.

You put the whole beans in, then turn the crank at the top to grind them yourself. You can choose between 50 different grind dial settings, which is a lot honestly. But, Pete found the one he likes best and grinds fresh coffee for us every Saturday and Sunday.

It’s really well crafted. You can feel the weight behind it while you’re grinding. Plus, when you take it apart to clean it, you can see the craftsmanship (or, if you’re like me, see how wide you can send the grind and then watch as it falls into pieces. Don’t worry, it’s supposed to do that and easily goes back together).

This manual coffee grinder is compact enough that you can pack it when you travel, assuring you have a great cup of coffee wherever you go. And yes, it’s manual. But, it works just as quickly as our electric grinder.

Krups Electric Spice and Coffee Grinder

We have the Krups Electric Spice and Coffee Grinder and it’s great. We used to use it all the time before the VSSL manual grinder (which now Pete prefers).

When Pete is making coffee, he likes whole bean better. You can’t stick whole beans into the coffee machine, obviously. You need to grind the beans first.

And yes, grocery stores have coffee grinders there (at least, they used to), but fresh ground coffee is better. So having a grinder at home, so you can grind on demand, is perfect.

A hand holding a red French press.

French Press

When Pete makes us coffee on the weekends, he makes it in the French press. He grinds coffee beans and uses that to make such a delicious, rich coffee that’s so much better than if you made it in traditional coffee machines. It’s a really good cup of coffee.

Sure, using a coffee machine is easier during the week, and using a K-cup is even easier, but a French press only takes four minutes from when you pour the hot water into the machine until it’s done, so it’s not that long.

Moka Pot

For our six month anniversary (a decade and a half ago), I bought Pete a Moka Pot (which is Italian) and some fancy Italian coffee.

In the simplest term, a moka pot is a stainless steel stove-top espresso maker. So, instead of needing one of those expensive espresso machines to make coffee for cappuccinos, mochas, or affogato, you can use this little contraption to brew the coffee right on the stove.

If your friend drinks a few cups of coffee at a time, this might not work because it doesn’t brew that much at once. But, it’s enough to add an espresso shot to a couple of coffee drinks.

A wooden sign that says rise & shine it's coffee time next to a set of coffee mugs and sugar dish.

Rise And Shine It’s Coffee Time Sign

There’s a chance your coffee aficionado has a coffee station in their home. They’ve become very popular lately. It’s usually a corner of the kitchen with a full coffee setup: cups, sugar, K-cups, and lots of coffee paraphernalia.

So they definitely need a Rise And Shine It’s Coffee Time sign. There are a ton of styles and different sizes to choose from, so you’ll be able to find the perfect one for your friend’s space.

A cold brew maker filled with coffee.

Cold Brew Maker

To me, the best coffee is hot coffee. Iced coffee is okay, but even when it’s hot out, I prefer hot coffee. The exception, though, is cold brew. And cold brew with cold foam is just delicious. It’s a good cup of coffee, but just a little more expensive than it needs to be.

So, a cold brew coffee maker is the perfect gift for a friend who likes cold brew but doesn’t like the cost of it at the coffee shop.

Travel Coffee Tumbler

Every Sunday, before church, Pete makes us coffee. But, between showering and getting ready, I never finish it before it’s time to leave. So I end up pouring my coffee into a travel coffee tumbler and taking it to go.

I do have a couple tumblers that I choose from. It depends on how much coffee I have left when my parents pick us up from church.

So, if you’re shopping for a coffee lover, and you’re like, “They probably already have a tumbler.” You’re right. They probably do. But they could us another.

Even better, some coffee shops give out discounts for using a travel mug, so your gift will save your friend some money too.

A wooden coffee cup holder than says "but first coffee" on it.

But First Coffee Wood Sign with hooks

There are a lot of But First, Coffee signs out there, but I love this one has gooks, which makes it really functional. It’s not just decoration.

If you’re giving this as a gift to someone, you can include a ceramic mug or two for them to hang on the hooks (or they can just hang their own).

A manually espresso machine.

Rok Manual Espresso Maker

Pete’s dad loves gadgets. Anytime he sees something cool, he has to buy it. So, we were not at all surprised when he showed up one day with the Rok Manual Espresso Maker.

You heat up the metal filter, add in ground espresso beans, pour hot water in the top, then slowly move the arms down (very much like a wine opener). The water forces the grounds through the filter, which results in coffee in your cup.

It makes a really great cup of coffee, even with cheap espresso (Pete’s dad used ground espresso the first time we had it and it was really good. After that, Pete used our grinder to grind espresso beans).

A DIY But First Coffee Wood Book Stack.

But First Coffee Wood Book Stack

If you want to make a really cool gift for your coffee loving friend, this DIY But First Coffee Wood Book Stack is it. It’s perfect to sit on their coffee bar or near their coffee cups.

You can something similar, if you’re not feeling crafty. But, what I love about this craft, is it actually looks like you bought it. Your friend might know you made it, but it doesn’t really look homemade. And those are the types of crafts I like best.

But First, Coffee Mug

Another fun DIY craft to make your coffee loving gift recipient is this DIY But First, Coffee Mug. It’s so simple to make using a marker and a steady hand. You don’t even need a vinyl cutting machine to make it.

Just be sure to tell your gift recipient that you made it, so it needs to be hand washed. If not the letters will eventually wash away.

DIY Starbucks Gift Card Holder.

DIY Starbucks Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder

A gift card to a coffee shop is a great gift option. Your friend can go and treat themselves … on your dime.

But, the truth is, gift cards are so boring. So, follow my lead and be a little extra and pack a Starbucks gift card in a Starbucks coffee cup. All you need is an iced coffee cup and a little paper shred. It’s such a cute package and just looks like a better gift than a gift card stuck in an envelope.
