Any time we have an empty roll of toilet paper, I save the tube. I put it in a box and save it for crafts, like this Candy Corn Toilet Paper Roll Craft. It’s such an easy Halloween craft that you can make with your kids, then use as a fun way to pass out any wrapped candy for Halloween.

Now, if you’re not like me and don’t save garbage in hopes that you come up with a cute craft to turn them into, you can actually purchase craft rolls online.

And don’t worry about purchasing too many. We actually have a ton of Halloween-themed toilet paper roll crafts that you can make with the rest. Those are at the end of the post, if you want to check them out.

How To Make Candy Corn Toilet Paper Rolls:

Two toilet paper roll tubes on a paper plate.

Fold the toilet paper roll tube in half.

A ruler measuring a toilet paper roll tube.

Measure it with the ruler. It should be a little less than four inches.

Quick note: If you don’t have toilet paper rolls for this, you can use empty paper towel rolls. Just cut them about four inches and the pieces will be the same size as the ones here.

Make a mark with a pencil close to 1.33 in, then another at 2.66 to split the roll into three even-ish sections.

Honestly, these are just something that you’re making that will eventually get thrown out. They’re not going to hang in a museum. So you can be a little bit off with your dimensions.

A piece of candy corn is yellow at the bottom, orange in the middle, and white at the top. So, you’re going to paint your tube this way.

Personally, I always paint on top of a paper plate so that I can just throw it away when I’m done. This works too if you’re making this craft with older children. If you’re making it with young children, I suggest putting down a large sheet of scrap paper for them to paint on top of so you don’t end up with paint all over.

If you’re making this with really young kids, I suggest you have the kids color the toilet paper rolls with crayons instead of painting them.

A paint brush painting yellow on a toilet paper roll tube.

Paint the bottom third of the toilet paper roll yellow. Be sure to paint it all around, so you get a ring of yellow around the toilet paper roll.

A paint brush painting orange on a toilet paper roll tube that already has a strip of yellow painted.

When the yellow paint dries. paint an orange ring in the middle section of the toilet paper roll tube.

When that’s dry, paint a white ring at the top section.

Two toilet paper roll tubes, painted yellow, orange, and white, on a paper plate.

Let the paint dry completely.

A stapler stapling a white and orange paper.

Put a staple in the center of the yellow section.

White and gold paper shred in a cardboard tube.

Fill the tube with a little bit of paper shred.

Blue Hershey's Kisses in a cardboard tube.

Then add some small wrapped candy.

I used Hershey’s Kisses in these (because I had some leftover from our Witch Hat cookies), but it would be super cute to fill it with real candy corn. You can purchase that in individual packs, and then just put one inside the tube.

Small aside: If you wanted to, you could add a small toy or plastic spider rings instead, so you could make this a non-candy Halloween favor. Or, do both. Make some with candy and some with non-candy treats. You can use black markers to make a small design on the non-candy one so you know, which is which.

White and gold paper shred in a cardboard tube.

And add a little more paper shred, making sure to stuff all the shred into the tube. You don’t want any excess paper sticking out because it’ll ruin your illusion.

A cardboard tube folded in half.

Fold the toilet paper roll opposite of how it’s already folded. That will form a puffed out triangle shape.

A staple stapling a cardboard tube folded in half.

Put a staple in the white section.

Now you have cute candy corn treat boxes that are the shape of candy corn.

One more quick note: If you’re making these for a class party for young kids, staples might not be the best way to go because little kids can have trouble with them and could potentially get hurt. The chances of that are slim, but it’s still a chance.

So, if you are making them for a party favor, you could either close it with a dab of glue from a hot glue gun or double sided tape. You can try a glue stick, but I’m not sure it would be strong enough to keep these closed.

Continue until you’re out of toilet paper rolls or until you’re out of people to gift them to.
