It’s cold. It’s winter break. You might have snow. That means the kids will want to play in the snow. Which means you might have to get into the snow. Or maybe not. But it definitely means that you have to clean up after the snow. All the wet clothes, all the wet shoes. Yuck.
How about instead you convince the kids to just make melted snowman treats? They’re super cute and there’s no going outside required.
And, if you do end up playing out in the snow, these would make really cute hot chocolate toppers.
These melted snowmen aren’t the only snowmen on the blog. In fact, they’re just one in our list of Snowman Crafts And Snacks Ideas.

Melted Snowman Marshmallow Treats Ingredients:
- 3 squares vanilla almond bark
- 3/4 cup mini marshmallows
- 7 full sized marshmallows
- 7 pretzel sticks
- 21 mini Reese’s Pieces
- Orange candy melt
- Black decorating gel
How To Make Melted Snowman Marshmallow Treats:
Melt the squares of vanilla almond bark in the microwave according to the package.
If you’ve never used almond bark before, you’ll want to melt it for one minute, stir it, then put it back in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue at 30 second intervals until the vanilla almond bark is completely melted. It should take two minutes total.
Quickly, add in the marshmallows and stir the melted vanilla almond bark to completely cover the marshmallows.
Add dollops of the marshmallow mixture onto a silicone baking mat-lined cookie sheet.
Allow it to sort of morph and do its own thing.
Continue until you’re out of marshmallow mix. This mix should make seven snowman bodies.
Put a full-sized marshmallow near the top of each of the blobs.
Break the pretzel sticks in half and add a half to the “body” portion of the blog. This guy is melting, and his pretzel arms are falling off, so don’t feel like you have to be too precise.
Between the pretzels, add three mini Reese’s Pieces. Again, this guy is melting and these are is buttons, so don’t feel like they have to line up at all.
Continue until you’ve done all of the melted snowmen.
The easiest way to do this, honestly, is to scoop out all the bodies, add all the heads, add all the pretzels, drop all the buttons. It’s easier than doing one at a time.
Melt a single orange candy melt. Use a toothpick to “paint” a carrot nose onto the marshmallow face. Paint one on each snowman.
Drop a drop of the black decorating gel into a measuring spoon (honestly, you can drop it anywhere, but I found it easier to use the measuring spoon).
Dip a toothpick in, then dot the face onto the snowman using the decorating gel. I gave each one two eyes and five dots for a smile. Redip the toothpick in the gel between each dot.
This guy is melting, though. So if you give him a sloppy face, it’s fine. I like imagining my snowmen cheerful as they melt, just like Frosty was (or was in my memory; I’m not sure if he was actually smiling as he melted away).
You can make these in batches of seven. Anything more than that and the marshmallows will sit for a little too long in the melted vanilla almond bark and start melting and making a mess. So, if you want to make more, just melt more vanilla almond bark and make more.
Melted Snowman Marshmallow Treats: Frequently Asked Questions
You absolutely can make these ahead of time.
Once you’re done with them, very carefully place them in an airtight container (or ziptop bag), making sure you don’t touch the faces. They could still be wet and you’ll smudge them.
You can keep them in the container for a week to 10 days (maybe longer, but you run the risk of the marshmallow head getting hard).
Right before you’re planning to serve them, take them out of the plastic bag and put them on a serving tray.
If you’re taking them out of the bag and one of the pretzel arms falls off, don’t fret. Melt any leftover vanilla almond bark, then use it as a “glue” to stick the pretzel back into place.
If you don’t have a silicone baking mat, I highly recommend you get one. I use mine all the time for so many different things.
In this recipe, though, it’s so the melted chocolate doesn’t stick to the baking sheet. It’ll pop right off the silicone baking mat as soon as it cools, so you don’t have to worry about pulling the marshmallows off a tray and making a mess.
If you don’t have a silicone baking mat, you could probably use parchment paper, but I haven’t tried that.
These absolutely could sit on top of your hot chocolate. They’re really sturdy, but also very light, so make a cup of hot chocolate and sit these melted snowman on top.
We don’t recommend using white chocolate chips in this recipe. Those are really hard to melt properly and usually end up burning. If you over melt them and burn them, the chocolate is ruined.
And, if you don’t work fast enough, the chocolate will harden while you’re making the bodies and you won’t be able to stick the accessories in.
Vanilla almond bark is a lot more user-friendly. If it hardens, you can remelt it (only do this before adding any marshmallows). Plus, I think it tastes better than white chocolate chips.
You could use white candy melts as well, but I don’t think those taste as good as vanilla almond bark.
