I love salsa. And I love how easy it is to make.
I promise you, it’s so easy.
The first time I made fresh tomato salsa from scratch, I was overwhelmed. You have to boil the salsa ingredients, then blend them. Like fine, that’s only two steps, but it’s a lot of cleaning.
But you guys, it’s so worth it. Homemade salsa tastes so much better than jarred salsa you find at the grocery store.
And, to be very honest, the first time I made homemade salsa was a very long time ago. We were still living in the apartment, so pre-us buying a house and actually, I think it was pre-us even being married. And I’ve made my own homemade salsa ever since. No jarred for me (unless it’s free because if it’s free, it’s for me).
Quick note: Not all salsa recipes need to be cooked and blended. Raw salsa is just blended. And some salsas are just chopped. So, you’ll find a delicious salsa for you on our list of Homemade Salsa Recipes, no matter how much effort you want (or don’t want) to put in to making it.
Homemade Salsa Recipes
As we add more salsa recipes to Drugstore Divas, we’re going to add them to this list. So be sure to save it (pin it, bookmark it, however you save pins) and come back from time to time to see what other recipes we’ve added.

Fresh Tomato Salsa
This Fresh Tomato Salsa is our most basic fresh salsa recipe.
Fresh tomatoes, a white onion, and jalapeno pepper are boiled, then strained. They’re added to a blender with fresh cilantro, fresh garlic, and seasoning. Blend less for a chunky salsa and more for a smooth salsa. And that’s it.
It’s filled with fresh ingredients and is on your table in under 10 minutes. You can’t get much easier than that.

Fresh Peach Salsa
My favorite salsa on this list is our Fresh Peach Salsa because it’s the most surprising. Peaches are generally sweet, so you would think this would be a sweet salsa. But you’re wrong.
Because you’re also adding fresh Roma tomatoes, red onion, garlic, and lemon juice to the food processor with the fresh peaches, you actually get a really balanced salsa that takes advantage of the sweet summer peaches.

Mango Salsa
If you want an easy way to get some fresh fruit onto your plate, our Mango Salsa recipe is the way.
It’s made with really simple ingredients (fresh mangoes, a pear, some red onion, and some lemon juice). All you do is chop everything and put it in a bowl. I would suggest chilling it because, unlike some of the other salsas on this list, this one isn’t as great at room temperature as it is when it’s cold.

Super Spicy Weight Watchers Salsa
If you want a spicier salsa, this Super Spicy Weight Watchers Salsa is for you. And don’t mind that it says Weight Watchers. That just means I calculated the points. There’s nothing added to it to make it Weight Watchers friendly.
It’s an easy salsa recipe that’s just like the Fresh Tomato Salsa recipe above, just with more jalapeno peppers. And that’s the trick to the spice level of your salsa, by the way. Add a little bit of jalapenos for a little spice/mild salsa and add more for a lot of spice/spicy salsa.

Pico De Gallo
At the most basic level, Pico de Gallo is a salsa (it’s also called salsa fresca), so it gets included on this list. It has all the same basic ingredients of a traditional salsa — ripe tomatoes, onion, cilantro, fresh lime juice — but pico de gallo is a little different than a salsa.
First, it’s completely raw (most salsa is boiled). Second, it’s just chopped (most salsa is blended) so it’s chunkier. You do want to serve this with a slotted spoon because the salt in it pulls water out of the juicy tomatoes, leaving you with some liquid at the bottom of the bowl of this salsa.

Grilled Corn Salsa
One of the most unique salsas I’ve ever made is this Grilled Corn Salsa. It’s corn based, rather than tomato based (although it does have tomatoes in it). It’s sweet, but balanced with the addition of jalapeno peppers.
It uses leftover grilled corn, so if you’re having a barbecue and have some leftover, this is an easy way to use it up.

Recipes Using Salsa:
If you made a big batch of salsa and you’re looking for something to do with it, try our salsa pouch chicken recipe. You make a pouch out of parchment paper, add a chicken breast, and top it with salsa. It’s so good.
We also have a slow cooker salsa chicken recipe that’s delicious too.
