We like spice in this house. A lot of spice. Pete is basically that old lady from the hot sauce commercial because he puts hot sauce or hot pepper on everything. So of course, this Super Spicy Weight Watchers Salsa is right up his alley.

It’s actually perfect if you’re trying to lose weight.

It’s zero Weight Watchers Freestyle Points, which means you can just drink it and not feel guilty about wasting your points on snacks. There’s also science behind the fact that spices curb your hunger. So you can eat this, crave for less food, and actually consume less calories than you would if you just ate a regular salsa.

And, to make it even better, this one is homemade. It, literally, takes ten minutes from start to finish. It has taken me longer to open jars of salsa before. Plus, with those jars, they’re filled with preservatives and other garbage that you don’t want to eat if you don’t have to. This one has none of that.

If you’re on a low carb diet, you’re in luck because this is low carb. Just pair it with pork rinds instead of tortilla chips. And it’s gluten free too, in case you need to worry about that.

Boil a pot of water.

Dice the tomatoes, peppers, and onions and add them to the boiling water for 7 minutes.

Take out about one cup of the water, then strain the vegetables.

Add the strained vegetables, plus the garlic and salt, into a blender with 1/4 cup of water.

Blend until smooth (or your desired consistency). If it’s too thick for you, you can add extra water and blend again.

Chop the cilantro as small as possible, then stir it in.

It will get spicier overnight, so keep that in mind too.

If you want a mild salsa, you can add a tomato and remove a jalapeño. That’s the mild version that I’ll make for my mom who doesn’t like spice. You can also remove the seeds from the jalapeño peppers and that will mellow the spice as well.
