It’s cold here. I mean, it’s cold everywhere. Winter is really wintering this year. And you might be tired of the snow and looking for indoor activities to entertain your kids.
Make snowmen inside.
No, not. Not snowmen with snow. Painted snowmen with wine corks.
I originally made these adorable wine cork snowmen with our friends’ then five year old. The wine cork stamps were the perfect size for her little hands.
I told her what to do and let her have at it. She had a good time and was definitely able to follow instructions. So if you want to make these with little kids, go right ahead. They’ll really enjoy it. And you’ll enjoy that you just need to minimally supervise.

DIY Wine Cork Stamp Snowmen Tutorial

The best part about this craft is it’s made with limited supplies, ones you probably have in your home right now. So you can suddenly decide to make this craft when your kids are getting a little antsy and need something to do.
Wine Cork Stamp Snowmen Supplies:

- Wine cork – Because you can buy anything online, you can actually buy wine corks. But you don’t have to buy one. This craft is actually a great way to just upcycle a cork from a bottle of wine.
- White washable paint – You can use acrylic paint if that’s all you have. But if you’re letting kids make these with minimal supervision, you want to use a washable paint.
- Colored markers – As with the paint, since minimally supervised kids are going to be making this craft, you’ll want to use washable markers.
- Art paper – Art paper is a thicker drawing paper. If your child is heavy handed with paint or markers, you run the risk of it bleeding through thinner paper.
- Paper plate – This is where you’ll pour the paint.
How To Make Wine Cork Stamp Snowmen Supplies:
Pour some of the white paint on a paper plate.
If you have a reusable paint palette, you can use that instead. Those are better in the long run because they’re reusable, so that will save you money. But, if you don’t have one, a paper plate works just fine.
Dip one end of the cork into the white paint.
Quick note: If you don’t have any old wine corks handy, you can use a champagne cork instead.
Stamp three circles, one on top of the other, using the wine cork stamp on your art paper, to make the snowman body.
Because kids are a little heavy handed, one dip in the paint will be enough to make three stacked snowballs.
I had the girl I was crafting with paint three sets of three circles so she could decorate three snowmen.
Each snowman required dipping into the paint.
Let those stamps dry completely.
Grab a brown marker and draw the arms of the snowman out from the middle circle.
Of course, you can sort of try to guide your child to make the arms look like sticks or just let them go wild, which is what happened in our case.
Grab another marker.
Draw a hat in the center of the snowman head.
If you’re making multiple snowmen, each one having a different colored hat would be cute.
Grab a different colored marker. Draw boots at the bottom of the snowman.
You could match the boots to the hat, but you don’t have to.
Use a black marker to draw the face on each snowman.
Use an orange marker to make a carrot note.
Draw three dots down the center of the middle circle for the charcoal buttons snowmen usually have.
This is why you have to have completely dried white circles before you start with the markers. You don’t want to dry to draw a face on wet paint.
If your children have a little more attention left, you can have them grab different colored markers and draw scarves too. But the girl I was crafting with was done, so our snowmen have cold necks.
For a little more pizzazz, you can take cotton balls and affix them to the bottom of the snowmen, where their feet are, with a little bit of glue. That way, it looks like they’re standing heaps of snow.
When you’re done with your wine cork stamp snowmen, cut them out from the art paper, then hang them on your wall.
Wine Cork Stamp Snowmen: Frequently Asked Questions
Most people who craft at home have paint with their crafting supplies, so that makes this craft really easy to make at the last minute.
If you’re actually planning ahead and are going to go to the craft store for supplies, you can pick up ink pads. Cork works really well with ink pads, and those are way less messy than paint.
If you don’t want to hang them, you can actually cut them out and use them as gift tags for the holiday season. Just leave enough space at the top corner to write the gift recipient’s name and at the bottom corner to write your name.
You child will absolute love seeing all the presents under the Christmas tree with his or her homemade gift tags.

- Wine cork
- White washable paint
- Colored markers
- Art paper
- Paper plate
Instructions
- Pour some of the white paint on a paper plate.
- Dip one end of the cork into the white paint.
- Stamp three circles, one on top of the other, using the wine cork stamp on your art paper, to make the snowman body. Let those stamps dry completely.
- Grab a brown marker and draw the arms of the snowman out from the middle circle.
- Grab another marker.
- Draw a hat in the center of the snowman head.
- Grab a different colored marker. Draw boots at the bottom of the snowman.
- Add a scarf.
- Draw the face, carrot nose, and buttons.
