If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that I make a lot of adorable treats. And, of course, this Reindeer Pretzels recipe is no exception to that.

They’re pretty simple. And I actually mean that. A lot of times people think things are simple and then the recipe ends up being way more work than you anticipate.

Not this one.

It’s easy. Like actually easy. And it makes a big impact on your Christmas cookie platter. So it’s definitely worth the time.

Reindeer Pretzels Recipe

This recipe is not the Rolo Reindeer Pretzels that are popular online. But, if you head down to the frequently asked questions section below, we do give that recipe.

Reindeer Pretzels Ingredients:

How To Make Reindeer Pretzels:

Pretzels on a silicone baking mat.

Lay your mini pretzels on a silicone baking mat-lined cookie sheet. Make sure the rounded parts of the pretzels are on the “top.”

If you don’t have a silicone baking mat (which I highly suggest you purchase because it makes life so much easier), you can line the cookie sheet with parchment paper instead.

Vanilla almond bark melted in a bowl.

Melt the vanilla almond bark in the microwave according to the package.

The easiest way to do this is to microwave it for a minute and stir it. Then, microwave it for 30 seconds, and stir again. Repeat at 30 second intervals until the almond bark is completely melted.

Pour the melted almond bark into a pastry bag.

If you don’t have a pastry bag, you can use a ziptop bag. Just pour the melted almond bark in and cut off a small portion of the corner of the bag.

White almond bark on the bottom of a pretzel.

Using the almond bark, paint a triangle- or circle-shaped white section on the “bottom” section of the mini pretzel twist.

You’ll want to make sure to add enough to fill the holes on the bottom section. If not, the almond bark will fall through the holes and won’t leave you with a flat surface for the face.

Add two candy eyeballs for the eyes.

Add either a red sugar pearl (to make Rudolph) or a black sugar pearl (to make one of the other reindeer).

Continue until you’ve finished all the pretzels.

Put the entire cookie sheet in the fridge for at least 20 minutes until the chocolate is cooled.

Remove the reindeer pretzels from the cookie sheet and put them in an air tight container in the fridge until you’re ready to serve them.

Reindeer Pretzels: Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to use vanilla almond bark?

Vanilla almond bark is so easy to work with. It melts easily and can be reheated if it cools and you’re not done using it. Plus, it tastes like chocolate, which is a plus.

If you don’t have vanilla almond bark, you can use white candy melts. Candy melts don’t taste like chocolate, in my opinion, so they’re not my go to. But, like vanilla almond bark, candy melts do melt easily and are able to be reheated.

If you choose to use candy melts, read our Tips For Using Candy Melts post first.

You can use white chocolate chips if that’s all you have, but those would definitely be my last choice. Chocolate chips burn easily when you’re melting them and you’re not able to remelt them if they cool while you’re using them.

If you’re in a pinch, white chocolate chips will work. But if you’re shopping for ingredients for Reindeer Pretzels, definitely buy vanilla almond bark or white candy melts instead.

And, if you want to vary these Reindeer Pretzels, you can buy chocolate almond bark or brown candy melts. Personally, I prefer using the white because you’re able to see the reindeer noses better, but you can use brown too.

How can you store Reindeer Pretzels?

Store Reindeer Pretzels in an airtight container. They can stay at room temperature for a few hours, but they’re best if you store them in the fridge and then remove them just before serving.

Reindeer Pretzels will last about two weeks in the fridge, but the sooner you can eat them, the better. The longer they’re in the fridge, the softer the pretzels will get.

How do you make Rolo Pretzel Reindeer?

There’s a really popular recipe online for Rolo Pretzel Reindeer. This one, as we mentioned above, is ot it. But, we can give you a quick rundown of that because it’s really easy.

Start with mini pretzel twists on a tray, like in our recipe. Cut additional mini pretzel twists in half, removing the bottom (the triangle part) and leaving just the round parts above. You’ll need two round parts per full pretzel. Set those pieces aside.

Peel Rolo chocolates. You’ll need one per reindeer pretzel.

Place a Rolo chocolate on each fully intact pretzel. Bake the tray at 350 F for about five minutes, until the Rolo chocolate is melted.

Stick two pretzel pieces on the top to act as antlers. Add two candy eyes and a sugar pearl for the nose.

Let the Rolo Pretzel Reindeer cool completely before serving.
