It’s really simple to make this Father’s Day craft and it is so super cute. You can personalize it the front of it to say whatever you like so it can really feel like your own. So: World’s Best Daddy, World’s Best Grandpa, World’s Best Stepdad … you get the idea.
Then, fill this with some of dad’s favorite treats. You can put gift cards and candy in the trophy, then cover the top with a piece of tissue paper to hide the surprise.

DIY World’s Best Dad Trophy Supplies:
How To Make A DIY World’s Best Dad Trophy:
Cut out two trophy handles from the gold card stock. They’re basically two curved “7” cutouts.
You may have a little trial and error with the handles to get them to a size you like.
Fold an equally-sized piece of the top and the bottom back. Add a drop of glue to each fold.
Affix a handle to each side of the cup. Let the glue dry.
When the handles are dry, flip the cup over and cut out a circle from the gold card stock that’s the size of the top of the cup.
Glue that to the bottom of a cup to make the trophy’s base.
If you wanted, you could write the year on the bottom after the trophy’s base dries so you can remember what year your child made this Father’s Day trophy.
Cut a shield from the white card stock.
I freehanded this, but you might want to draw a shield in pencil on the white card stock first before you cut it.
You could also take a piece of printer paper, fold it in half, and cut out the shield. Then, trace that shield onto the white card stock. Cut it out and you’ll get a perfectly mirrored shield.
Color a black edge around it, then write: “WORLD’S BEST DAD!” in your neatest handwriting (or in your child’s most adorable handwriting) on it.
Glue the shield down to the front of the trophy. Let it all dry.
Fill the homemade trophy with dad’s favorite wrapped candy, gift cards for dad, drawings, whatever fits in a cup. If you are going to use candy, I suggest wrapped candy so it doesn’t melt inside your trophy and make a mess of your hard work.
Take a piece of tissue paper and stick it in the cup to hide dad’s treats. Flare it out a little, then give dad the trophy.
DIY World’s Best Dad Trophy: Frequently Asked Questions
This trophy isn’t only for Father’s Day, which is why we titled this “DIY World’s Best Dad Trophy” and not “Father’s Day Trophy Craft.”
You can give this to dad for his birthday, on a random Tuesday, on a day he needs a pick me up, on a day he does a great job. You don’t have to wait for a special occasion to tell dad he’s the best. Just tell him.
Or in this case, just show him with a trophy.
If you can’t find a yellow plastic cup, you have a few options.
Start with a clear (or any color) cup. Spray paint it, very lightly, with a yellow or gold spray paint. Very thin, light coats work better when you are spray painting plastic. If you use thick layers, they will drip and you’ll end up with streaks and drip marks all over your trophy.
It feels a little tedious to use multiple thin layers rather than one thick later, but it’s worth it. Trust me.
If you’re making this with kids and you don’t want them to play with spray paint, you can pick up gold foil sheets instead. Wrap the foil around the plastic cup to cover it completely. Then, continue along with the rest of the craft.
Can you purchase a World’s Best Dad Trophy Cup Craft Kit?
If you want to make this World’s Best Dad Trophy, but want to purchase all the supplies at once, you’re in luck.
You can buy this World’s Best Dad Trophy Cup Craft Kit. It comes with all the pieces you need to make that cup craft pictured above. This kit includes self-adhesive foam pieces, so it’s super easy for kids to put together.
All you need to supply is a marker to fill in the blank under “World’s Greatest” to write who its for (dad, grandpa, mailman, whoever).
This World’s Best Dad Trophy Cup Craft Kit actually comes with enough pieces to make 12 trophy cups, so you can make these for all the dads, grandpas, and father figures in your child’s life.
These are open at the top, so you’re able to fill them with wrapped treats as well. I wouldn’t fill them with loose candy because that could melt, make a mess, and ruin your trophy.

Such a cute idea for Father's Day! I think sometimes we focus too much on monetary gifts. Being able to create something from scratch definitely holds more meaning.
