Make pool time even more fun this summer with one of these 30+ Great Pool Toys For Summer. Although, you can use them outside of summer too.

There’s still so much summer left here in North Carolina, which means lots and lots of pool days ahead. The swimming pool in our community is actually open for almost three more months, so I’m excited about that. It’s just nice to sit outside, get some sun, then jump in the pool when you need to cool off.

We usually don’t pack any pool toys with us because we don’t have kids to bring with us (and, also, I need all that room for snacks).

But, if you have a lot of pool days in your future, and you go to the pool with young children, be sure to check out our list of the best pool toys for summer. It’s a good idea to pack some of these if you’re on a family vacation at a pool during Christmas break too, but we say summer specifically on this list because we’re in summer now.

If you’re buying these amazing pool toys for someone who is obsessed with the pool, don’t forget to check out our list of Gifts For Pool Lovers. They’re the perfect birthday or Christmas gifts for your pool fiend.

Great Pool Toys For Summer

Affiliate links are included in this post and Drugstore Divas may make a small commission if you use them.

We split this list into a few categories: pool dive toys, swim toys, inflatable toys, and pool games. Now, of course, some toys could fit into two categories, but I tried to put them where they fit best.

Also, keep in mind, these are very specifically pool toys. Made for the pool. Not ones for the bath that you can bring into the pool. If you’re looking for toys for the bath, we actually have a list of Fun Bath Toys For Kids that you can check out.

Pool Dive Toys

These pool dive toys the perfect toys for you to throw, watch sink, and then have your kids swim to retrieve.

Two unopened packs of dive rings on a shelf in the store.

Dive Rings

Dive Rings are such a classic pool toy. They’re literally just a set of rings that you throw and dive for. But, when we had these growing up, we would play with them for hours.

A treasure box dive toy with coins and a seahorse in a package on a store shelf.

Undersea Treasure Hunt Pool Game

What’s super cool about this Undersea Treasure Hunt Pool Game is the jewels (the “treasure”) fill with water and sink towards the bottom of the pool while the treasure box floats. So your child can dive for the treasure and not have to hold onto the box.

Pool torpedoes hanging in a store.

Pool Torpedoes Diving Pool Toys

These Pool Torpedoes Diving Pool Toys are so much fun. They’re shaped like a torpedo, so they’re fun to throw, and they sink (and glide under water), so they’re fun to dive after.

A mermaid toy in its package hanging from a peg in a store.

Splash ‘N Go Mermaid Dive Toy

This Splash ‘N Go Mermaid dive toy is so much fun. Your kids can play with it on top of the water, but it sinks (and sinks pretty quickly) and then they can go diving for it.

A three pack of seaweed shaped pool dive toys, that are orange, yellow, and neon green, in a pack on a shelf in a store.

Seaweed Diving Toys

Seaweed grows in water, so Seaweed Diving Toys make a lot of sense. These ones are really bright making them easy to find in water (which helps if you’re diving for them).

A box with two fish diving toys on a shelf in a store.

Fish Diving Toys

These brightly colored Fish Styx Pool Diving Toys are sure to be a hit with your kids. The fish sort of swim to the bottom, because of how they’re shaped, but mostly, they just sink.

A package of six octopus dive toys.

Diving Octopi

These Diving Octopi are so cute. They have really bright tails that wiggle in the water, so they’re easy to spot, but might wiggle away before you catch them.

Swim Toys

These swim toys are mostly wind up toys where the toys swim themselves.

A wind up swim toy shaped like the dog named Skye from Paw Patrol with a mermaid tail.

PAW Patrol Paddlin Pups, Skye

If your daughter is into PAW Patrol, she’ll love this PAW Patrol Paddlin Pups, Skye. Just wind her up and she’ll swim all around the pool with your child (so you don’t have to).

Packs of wind up ducks on a shelf in a store.

Wind Up Ducks

How cute is this Wind Up Duck? It can waddle on land and then swim when it gets into the water, so it’s perfect to play with in or out of the pool.

A box with a remote control shark in it on a shelf in the store.

Remote Control Shark

This remote control shark is a lot of fun because it can swim on the water while someone controls it. It’s a great way for kids to play together when one is too cold to actually be in the water.

Wind up turtle toys in boxes on a shelf in a store.

Wind Up Turtles Toy

This wind up turtle toy will swim across the top of your pool water. It walks like a real turtle too, which is fun for dry land.

A Bluey Floatin' Figures pool toy in a box on a hanging peg in a store.

Bluey Floatin’ Figures

Bluey is decked out in an inner tube so that he can float along the top of your water all by himself. Your kids can either chase him and swim to him or just wave as he floats by.

Inflatable Pool Toys

These inflatable toys are, well, just that.

A classic beach ball on pavement.

Classic Beach Ball

An inflatable beach ball is such fun in the pool, and this Classic Beach Ball is perfect for summer.

A 3D beach ball with a blue wave on the outside and a plastic shark on the inside.

3D Beach Balls

These 3D Beach Balls have fun characters inside, making them stand out from traditional inflatable balls.

Pool Games

Any type of games — an inflatable game, floating game, or just generic water games — made this section of the list.

An inflatable basketball hoop for the pool in a box on a shelf in the store.

Inflatable Basketball & Football Game Set

This Inflatable Basketball & Football Game Set is a fun way for the whole family to play together … until Dad tries to slam dunk and the hoop starts floating away. Just kidding.

A green and black pool volleyball with the word "Aqua" on it on a store shelf.

Pool Volleyball

If you love volleyball, you should also get a pool volleyball. Add a net and you have yourself a game.

A blue and black pool football on a store shelf.

Pool Football

If volleyball isn’t your game of choice, a Pool Football might be more up your alley. You can use it either wet or dry, in the beach or the pool, and you don’t need anything else (like a net for volleyball or a hoop for basketball).

A pack of three splash balls (one orange, one blue, and one green) in a pack on a hook in a store.

Splash Balls

Playing catch in the pool is so easy when you use Splash Balls rather than actual sports balls. You dunk them in water and then soar them across the pool to your friends who catch them. When they do, they get soaked with the water.

A packaged toy fishing set on a shelf in a store.

Fish & Catch Set

This Fish & Catch Set is so cute. There are a few little fish, seahorses, and other water dwellers that will float in the water that your kid has to fish for. This would work as a great bath toy too.

A box containing a floating pool cornhole game.

Floating Cornhole & Basketball Pong Set

Cornhole is a lot of fun on land, so you definitely want to grab this floating cornhole set so you can play it in the water too. It flips over and turns into a basketball pong set too, which is another fun game.

A box containing a floating smash ball game.

Floating Smash Ball Game

If you have a bunch of people in your pool, this floating smash ball game is perfect. You can get the entire family involved too if you make a tournament bracket and have everyone play to decide the winner (at least, that’s what my family would do).

A package with a plastic shark and fish pool toy in it called the Gobble Gobble Guppies.

Gobble Gobble Guppies Pool Game

This Gobble Guppies Pool Game is so cute. There are four little fish that will float in the water that your kid has to gobble up with the shark (which opens and closes its mouth with the push of a trigger).

A hand holding a pool water blaster over a pool.

I don't have children but I am all about inflatable pool floaties. I had the pink flamingo for a while now, but I think it's time to get it a unicorn friend. :)

I wish I had a pool, but maybe it's better that I don't, because otherwise this post would result in a big dent in my wallet! Thanks for sharing!
