There’s still so much summer left here in North Carolina, which means lots and lots of pool days ahead. The swimming pool in our community is actually open for almost three more months, so I’m excited about that. It’s just nice to sit outside, get some sun, then jump in the pool when you need to cool off.

We usually don’t pack any pool toys with us because we don’t have kids to bring with us (and, also, I need all that room for snacks).

But, if you have a lot of pool days in your future, and you go to the pool with young children, be sure to check out our list of the best pool toys for summer. It’s a good idea to pack some of these if you’re on a family vacation at a pool during Christmas break too, but we say summer specifically on this list because we’re in summer now.

If you’re buying these amazing pool toys for someone who is obsessed with the pool, don’t forget to check out our list of Gifts For Pool Lovers. They’re the perfect birthday or Christmas gifts for your pool fiend.

30+ Great Pool Toys For Summer

Affiliate links are included in this post and Drugstore Divas may make a small commission if you use them.

We split this list into a few categories: pool dive toys, swim toys, inflatable toys, and pool games. Now, of course, some toys could fit into two categories, but I tried to put them where they fit best.

Also, keep in mind, these are very specifically pool toys. Made for the pool. Not ones for the bath that you can bring into the pool. If you’re looking for toys for the bath, we actually have a list of Fun Bath Toys For Kids that you can check out.

Pool Dive Toys

These pool dive toys the perfect toys for you to throw, watch sink, and then have your kids swim to retrieve.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Undersea Treasure Hunt Pool Game.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Undersea Treasure Hunt Pool Game

What’s super cool about this Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Undersea Treasure Hunt Pool Game is the jewels (the “treasure”) fill with water and sink towards the bottom of the pool while the treasure box floats. So your child can dive for the treasure and not have to hold onto the box.

Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dive Rings.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dive Rings

This set of three Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dive Rings feature classic drawings of the mouse team — dressed in their finest swimwear.

Stingray Glider.

Stingray Glider

This Stingray Glider is technically a dive toy because it sinks and your child can dive for it. But it also swims back up to the surface, so your child will end up chasing it up and down, not just down.

Banzai Pool Time Dive Rings.

Pool Time Dive Rings

These Pool Time Dive Rings are such a classic pool toy. They’re literally just a set of six rings that you throw and dive for. But, when we had these growing up, we would play with them for hours.

Pool torpedoes hanging in a store.

Pool Torpedoes Diving Pool Toys

These Pool Torpedoes Diving Pool Toys are so much fun. They’re shaped like a torpedo, so they’re fun to throw, and they sink (and glide under water), so they’re fun to dive after.

Fish Styx Pool Diving Toys.

Fish Styx Pool Diving Toys

These brightly colored Fish Styx Pool Diving Toys are sure to be a hit with your kids. The fish sort of swim to the bottom, because of how they’re shaped, but mostly, they just sink.

Swimming Pool Toy Play Sticks Diving Toys.

Play Sticks Diving Toys

These Play Sticks Diving Toys are all really bright colors, making them super easy to find in the pool. They come as a set of five, so you can throw them all at once and it’ll take a little bit for your kids to gather them all.

Disney Princess Ariel Glitter Dive Wands.

Disney Princess Ariel Glitter Dive Wands

If your child is into princesses, she’ll love these Disney Princess Ariel Glitter Dive Wands. They come in a pack of three with three different images on top.

Go Fish Dive Game

Instead of playing Go Fish with cards at the pool, play this Go Fish Dive Game. It’ll make the game last longer and will add some swimming fun to it.

Swim Toys

These swim toys are all wind up toys where the toys swim themselves.

Wind Up Turtles Toy.

This Wind Up Turtle Toy comes in a pack with three adorable wind up turtles that will swim across the top of your pool water.

PAW Patrol Paddlin Pups, Skye.

PAW Patrol Paddlin Pups, Skye

If your child is into PAW Patrol, she’ll love this PAW Patrol Paddlin Pups, Skye. Just wind her up and she’ll swim all around the pool with your child (so you don’t have to).

Wind Up Ducks.

Wind Up Ducks

How cute are these Wind Up Ducks? They come in a set of three, which is good because then you don’t have to decide which is the cutest.

Wind Up Swimming Dinosaurs.

Wind Up Swimming Dinosaurs

If dinosaurs are more your kids thing, go with these Wind Up Swimming Dinosaurs. You can choose three T-Rex toys (pictured above) or three triceratops.

Inflatable Pool Toys

These inflatable toys are, well, just that.

A classic beach ball on pavement.

Classic Beach Ball

An inflatable beach ball is such fun in the pool, and this Classic Beach Ball is perfect for summer.

3D Beach Balls.

3D Beach Balls

These 3D Beach Balls have fun characters inside, making them stand out from traditional inflatable balls.

Inflatable Shark Toys.

Inflatable Shark Toys

You usually don’t want to see sharks in the water, but these Inflatable Shark Toys are cute, so they’re okay.

Pool Games

Any type of games — an inflatable game, floating game, or just generic water games — made this section of the list.

Floating Basketball Game.

Floating Basketball Game

This Floating Basketball Game is a fun way for the whole family to play together … until Dad tries to slam dunk and the hoop starts floating away. Just kidding.

Pool Volleyball Game.

Pool Volleyball Game

Volleyball is hard on your wrist, but this Pool Volleyball Game is easier — at least, until you move around too much and the inflatable volleyball net changes positions and you have to shift your whole team.

Gobble Gobble Guppies Pool Game.

Gobble Gobble Guppies Pool Game

This le Gobble Guppies Pool Game is so cute. There are four little fish that will float in the water that your kid has to gobble up with the shark (which opens and closes its mouth with the push of a trigger).

Toss 'N' Splash.

Toss ‘N’ Splash

Score a ton of points with Toss ‘N’ Splash. Throw the balls and count points wherever they land.

Different spots are different point values, so this game is a great way to have older children practicing math without them even realize they’re doing it.

Jarts Splash.

Jarts Splash

Jarts Splash is basically lawn darts for the pool. So much fun.

Smash 'n' Splash Paddle Ball Game.

Smash ‘n’ Splash Paddle Ball Game

If you have a bunch of space in your pool, this Smash ‘n’ Splash Paddle Ball Game is perfect. You can get the entire family involved too if you make a tournament bracket and have everyone play to decide the winner (at least, that’s what my family would do).

Floaty Pong Pool Game

This Floaty Pong Pool Game can be different every single time you play because you can rearrange the way the rings are set up.

Flamingo Ring Toss Game.

Flamingo Ring Toss Game

Ring toss, but make it cute with this Flamingo Ring Toss Game.

Shark Fin Ring Toss Game.

Not into flamingos? Get this Shark Fin Ring Toss Game instead.

Inflatable Basketball Game.

Inflatable Basketball Hoop

This Inflatable Basketball Game is better for younger kids because it’s a little easier to dunk because this inflatable hoop is a little wider and a little more forgiving than the floating one above.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Spark Shark Fish Hunt

Gobble up fish into your shark’s belly with this Doug Sunny Patch Spark Shark Fish Hunt game.

For younger children, just let them play until they’ve caught all the fish. For older kids, you can turn it into a race.

Disney Finding Dory Mr. Ray's Dive and Catch Game.

Finding Dory Mr. Ray’s Dive and Catch Game

If your kids love Finding Dory, they’ll love this Finding Dory Mr. Ray’s Dive and Catch Game, which comes with the movie’s most popular characters: Nemo and Dory.

Mr. Ray, the string ray, is the net for the game, which is really cute.

Swim-Through Rings

If you have older kids, these Swim Thru Rings are perfect to keep them entertained in the pool.

I don't have children but I am all about inflatable pool floaties. I had the pink flamingo for a while now, but I think it's time to get it a unicorn friend. :)

I wish I had a pool, but maybe it's better that I don't, because otherwise this post would result in a big dent in my wallet! Thanks for sharing!
