I love easy treats, especially ones like my Candy Cane Chocolate Bark. It’s just the perfect thing to bring to a last minute dinner party. It doesn’t take that long to make, and is definitely something I can throw together between when Pete gets home from work and when we walk out the door for dinner.

Break the candy canes into tiny pieces. The easiest way to do this is to put the candy canes in a closed plastic bag, then bang them with a rolling pin. Roll until the pieces are pretty small.

Break the chocolate bars into pieces and microwave them for 30 seconds and stir. Continue until the chocolate is melted.

Pour the chocolate onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Use an icing knife to spread the chocolate across the parchment paper, creating a wafer thin layer.

Sprinkle the candy cane pieces into the chocolate while it’s still warm. Sprinkle the crumbs too because that makes it beautiful and giftable.

Put the bark into the fridge to let it cool completely.

When it’s cool, use a knife to cut it into bite-sized pieces. It’s easier to cut it into diagonal strips going one way, then turn the cutting board and cut in diagonal strips going in the opposite direction.

Put those into a rectangle of parchment paper. I suggest using a plastic cookie turner to do this. These are really thin and touching them with warm hands could start to melt them.

Wrap them up, and put them in a 3D Christmas Treat boxes. That makes them the perfect neighbors gifts.
