It’s funny to me that people say the man is the head of the household because really, the women are the ones who keep it running.
And running a household takes a lot of effort. Between making every appointment, keeping track of every practice, driving the kids everywhere they need to go and picking them up and dropping off their friends who need a ride, plus cooking dinner, and keeping the house clean, on top of a full-time job … it’s a lot, mentally and physically.
So mom needs a chance to unwind and take care of herself.
She probably won’t without some help and pushing. So getting her one of the self-care gifts on this list is perfect. She’ll have to use it because you got it for her.

Edobio Face Products
Part of my night routine is washing my face with Edobio facial washing soap then applying Edobio night cream. I’ve been doing this for months and honestly, it’s just such a nice way to wash off the day.
Personally, I don’t like bar soap. It really dries out my skin. But it doesn’t with this facial washing soap. The soap also sits in a mesh bag, so I feel like that helps with exfoliation a bit.
And then, when my face is washed, I apply the night gel mask. That helps hydrate my skin overnight.
So, does mom have a ton of time to take for herself? No. Probably not. But she can find a few minutes at night to wash her face and then apply this mask, which does hours of work for her. And really, something should be doing work for mom.

Wobbles Crochet Kits
My sister-in-law bought me a Wobbles crochet kit for Christmas last year and it has been the absolute most soothing thing to do.
I already knew how to crochet basic stitches, so that helped. But, you don’t need to know any of that. The kits come with a QR code that you scan to bring you to the step-by-step video tutorials, which you watch on your phone.
Using your phone for the videos means that mom can’t doom scroll on her phone, so she’s focused, present where she’s at, and in the moment. And then at the end, she has the cutest little amigurumi to be proud of.
Because, sure, she made children. But making this is really rewarding too.

A Massage At A Spa
One of the best gifts you can get for mom is booking her a massage at a spa. She wants that. She doesn’t want an at home massage because, well, that might be how she became a mom in the first place.
Having some nice me time, where she leaves the house and gets pampered and gets to relax and doesn’t have to hear Bluey in the background, is the kind of self-care she needs.
And don’t get caught up thinking that a spa massages are expensive. You can actually book a massage at a discount on Groupon. Mom will love her time at the spa and you will love that it didn’t cost all the money in your wallet. Everyone’s happy.

Weighted Eye Pillow
Mom doesn’t always get a full night’s sleep. There are nights when someone is waking up in the night, coming onto her side of the bed, needing a drink of water or just one more story.
So when mom does get a chance to rest her eyes, you really want that to be restful.
A weighted eye pillow can help with that. They promote rest and relaxation, something you don’t get from a non-weighted eye mask. So, definitely grab one for mom to help with her shut eye — if she ever does get to shut her eyes.

Shower Steamers
Social media went nuts recently talking about everything showers. Moms don’t always get to take everything showers. Sometimes mom’s shower is just jumping in, rinsing off, and then hopping out to solve the next crisis or prevent someone’s meltdown.
So you want her shower, however short it may be, to be relaxing. Shower steamers can help with that.
She can drop one at the bottom of the shower and the steam and essential oils will fill the air. She’ll be able to breathe them in and relax, if only for a minute.

Mini Sound Machine
Does mom ever get to sleep a full, restful, uninterrupted night? Not really. If you want to help her try, you could book her a hotel room for a week. Or you could get her a sound machine.
We have this LectroFan Micro 2, which we’re obsessed with. It’s a white noise machine with a bunch of different sounds, like the ocean and pink and brown noise, all things that can drown out the dogs barking outside, the police cars driving by, the kids getting up to go to the bathroom, and her husband snoring next to her.
And, when mom is awake, she can use it as a Bluetooth speaker so she can blast all the music her kids hate when they’re at school and she is home sweeping the kitchen and using the broom as a microphone.

Herbal Teas
Pete and I love having tea time at the end of the night. We don’t do it every day, but a few times a week, Pete will make us tea and it’s really soothing.
Of course, you can use any bagged or loose tea for tea time, but getting mom a really nice herbal tea to help her unwind is nice.
Chamomile, rose, mint, and ginger are all known to be calming, stress-relieving herbal teas, so look for a combination of that if mom doesn’t have a favorite tea. If she already has one she loves, get that instead.

FACTORFIVE Skin Care Products
I will be very honest. For a long time, I was like skin care is skin care is skin care. The cheap products work just as well as the expensive ones, so I’ll be frugal in this aspect of my life too.
And then I tried FACTORFIVE Skin Care Products and I see such a difference in my skin. I use the serum and cream daily after my shower and they just melt into my skin, keeping it hydrated all day. I don’t feel a layer on my skin like I do with cheaper products. And my skin really does feel healthier.
You’re supposed to use it twice a day, but (as I mentioned above) I use something else at night. That means these products last longer, which is good for my wallet.
So, if you want to treat mom, I highly suggest these. If you can’t swing the full-size bottles of serum and cream, some sheet masks are great too. Those only take up 10 minutes of her time to do and she might really only have 10 minutes of time for herself anyway.

Gift Cards For Take Out
Self-care gifts don’t have to be extravagant. Sometimes, they’re just things that take a weight off mom’s mind.
And you know what’s always on her mind? What’s for dinner. She’s the one planning meals, shopping meals, and cooking meals. And, usually, cleaning up after meals too.
So let mom give herself the night off from all that by ordering in.
Grabbing her a gift card for either a service like Grubhub or a gift card to her favorite fast food restaurant is perfect. It’s better than getting delivery because it means she can use it whenever she just doesn’t have the mental capacity to cook. It’s you giving her a break when she needs it.

Books
My mom has turned into the biggest reader every since we got her a Kindle for her birthday almost a decade ago. Ever since, she takes it with her on every single trip. She’ll sit at a campsite or on a cruise ship, just lounging and reading her book, getting lost in the story.
For so many people, reading is self care. It’s a way for them to get in their “me time” and just escape from their every day lives for a while.
So, if your mom loves to read like mine does, you can buy her some books that she has been wanting. Or you can get her a gift card to a bookstore so she can pick out her own.
