When we were young and used to go to the arcade, we would get so incredibly excited when we saw crazy straws as a prize. We would make sure we had enough tickets to get one and we would have so much fun using our new straws for every single drink after that.
So of course, when I’m putting together our Halloween treats, I make sure to include some crazy straws.
But, if you know me, you know I can’t do anything plainly. I can’t just hand out some plastic straws when treat or treaters come to my door. Instead, I have to be extra and add super cute gift tags to them that say, “Have An Ex-Straw Special Halloween” on them.
If you want to hand these out on Halloween, or if you want to make them for Halloween classroom gifts, you’re in luck. I made the crazy straw gift tag into a free printable for you. All you have to do is save it from the end of this post and print it. I tiled it to fit nine on a page, so you can print a few copies and have enough for all of your Halloween treats.
This isn’t the only one of our homemade Halloween ideas. Our list of DIY Halloween Party Favors is filled with some great ideas to help you find the perfect gift for your parties this year.

DIY Halloween Crazy Straws Gift Supplies:
- Free “Have An Ex-Straw Special Halloween” printable (at the end of this post)
- Scissors
- Single hole punch
- Crazy straws
- Tape
How To Make A DIY Halloween Crazy Straws Gift:
Print out the printable tags below.
Cut out each individual tag from the sheet.
Use the hole punch to punch holes near the top of the printable design.
You don’t want the hole to be too close to the top and risk the straw tearing through, but you do want it close enough to the top that is looks like the silly straw is actually the straw for the drink.
Place the straw through the hole to put the tag on the straw.
Quick note: If you don’t have a single hole punch, you have two options. You can either cut a small slit in the top and slide the straw in or you can just put the tag in front of the straw and tape it down on the back. Either way will work.
Use a small piece of tape on the back to secure the tag to the straw.
Continue until you’re done with all the straws. Then, add them to you Halloween treat bucket.
If you’re just making these for your own kids, they’re the perfect addition to your Halloween meals. Stick them into our Monster Milk for breakfast, add them to our Halloween Pumpkin Drinking Glasses for dinner, or whatever your favorite drink to serve on October 31st is.
Free Halloween Crazy Straws Printable
We made a free Halloween Crazy Straws printable that you can use to easily make this gift. It says, “Have And Ex-Straw Special Halloween” on it. Ex-straw. Get it? You get it. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t have gotten this far in the post.
It a PDF file formatted to fit an 8.5- x 11-inch piece of paper. Right click it, then save it however you typically save PDF files, then print it at home when you’re ready to use it.
Make sure that, if you’re given the option, you choose “fit to page” when you print, and that you print in full color, so you get the printable exactly as you see it in this post.
If you want to make them a little more sturdy, you can print onto card stock. But, if all you have is plain printer paper, that works too.
DIY Halloween Crazy Straws Gift: Frequently Asked Questions
These are designed as a non-editable template, so you’re not able to change the color of them or the text on them. If you really need them to be another design or color, you can easily design your own tags. I used Canva to make them. You could do them in PicMonkey too. Both of those websites are really easy to use, especially if you have no graphic arts skills.
If you do make your own tags, you can add your own cute note too. You don’t have to write what we did.
Any reusable plastic straw works for this. I’d stay away from paper straws.
I used the silly straws with the twists near the top and the printable fits perfectly between the top of the straw and the first crazy loop. I’ve seen other Halloween silly straws online, like a straw with a pumpkin-shaped twist in it. The printable should fit on that type too.
