We love popcorn. Pete calls my homemade popcorn world famous. I make it in the pressure cooker, and, honestly, it’s the only thing I use my pressure cooker for. But, if I’m being lazy, I’ll make microwave popcorn. What I hate, though, is when you stick your hand in a bag and it comes out covered in oil and fake butter. So I found this microwave popcorn hack that is a game changer.
I’m trying to remember where I saw it at first. Maybe Snapchat? I’m not sure, to be perfectly honest.
All I really know is I didn’t create the life hack, but I can’t stop using it.
And of course, it’s a silly thing to post. But if it changes your life the way it changed mine, it’s worth a post.
Microwave Popcorn Hack
Step 1: Microwave your popcorn.
Side note: Do you know how to microwave popcorn without burning? It’s simple. Just set the timer on the microwave for about 2-and-a-half minutes. That’s a little higher than the perfect microwave popcorn time, so don’t let the timer go all the way down. That just assures you don’t under pop your popcorn. Listen to the kernels popping. When it goes about 5 seconds without a pop, fly over the the microwave and stop it. Take the bag and shake it. You may get another pop or two from the residual heat. That’s okay. You won’t get any burnt ones, so that’s good.
Step 2: Place the bag on it’s larger side.
Step 3: Use scissors to cut a slit across the back of the popcorn bag. (The back end is the closed part; the front end is the part you traditionally open.)
Step 4: Cut up each edge of the bag to create a “flap.”
Step 5: Fold the flap open.
Now, of course, I typed it out pretty silly in five steps because it’s really so simple. But it was more fun that way.
Do you have any other fun life hacks? Let me know and I’ll get them posted on the blog. You never know. Your simple life hack could change someone’s life.
