We have a community potluck a couple times a month and one of my friends who goes loves chocolate covered Oreo cookies. So, whenever I know that he’s going to be there, I make sure to make some.
I knew he was going to be at the Christmas party this year, so I made these Christmas Wreath Oreo Cookies. They were a huge hit.

Christmas Wreath Oreo Cookies Recipe

Christmas Wreath Oreo Cookies Ingredients:
You can get the full list of ingredients with measurements in the recipe card below.
- Almond bark – Vanilla almond bark can be remelted if it starts to harden and won’t burn, unlike white chocolate chips, which are less forgiving.
- Oreo cookies – We’re using Oreo cookies as a generic term. You can use any brand of round sandwich cookie.
- Candy melts – You need both green and red candy melts.
- Sprinkles – We prefer using rainbow nonpareil sprinkles.
How To Make Christmas Wreath Oreo Cookies:

Melt the vanilla almond bark according to the package.
Quick note: In case you haven’t worked with almond bark before, the easiest way to do this is by cutting it into smaller pieces, then putting them in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave for one minute, then stir. Put the bowl back for another 30 seconds and stir again. This should be enough for it to melt completely, but if not, continue at 30 second intervals until it’s melted.

Dip your Oreo cookie in the melted almond bark.
You want to flip it to make sure both sides are coated.
Pick the Oreo cookie up with a fork and tap the fork on the side of the bowl to allow the excess chocolate to drip off.

Put the Oreo cookie on a silicone baking mat-lined baking sheet to cool.
If you don’t have a silicone baking mat, you could use parchment paper. I just prefer the mat because it’s reusable, which makes it both environmentally- and wallet-friendly.
You need to put something down, though, because the chocolate will stick to a cookie sheet and you won’t be able to pop the cookies off like you do when they’re on a baking mat.
Continue until you’ve finished all of the Oreo cookies.
Let them cool completely.
That should take about an hour, but it really depends on how cool your home is. I don’t suggest cooling them in the fridge because that can discolor the melted chocolate and it just doesn’t look as pretty that way.

Melt the green candy melts according to the package.
If you’ve never used them before, we have a tips for using candy melts post that you should read. It’ll help for sure.

Put the melted green candy into a piping bag with a No. 7 tip.
If you don’t have a piping bag and tips, you can use a ziptop plastic bag with the corner cut off. That’s how I used to pipe for years until Pete got me a piping set.
Pipe a circle of green candy melts into the center of the Oreo cookie to make the wreath.
You want the circle to be as uniform as possible. But, if not, it’s okay. They’ll be covered in sprinkles, so no one will really notice.

Immediately sprinkle the rainbow nonpareil sprinkles on top of the green circle to act as Christmas ornaments on the wreath.
This is why you need to wait until the vanilla almond bark is completely cooled. Then, the sprinkles only stick to the green, not the white.
Continue until you’re done with all of the cookies.
Quick note: I tried pouring the sprinkles into a bowl and dipping the cookie in the sprinkles, but that caused the green to flatten, taking up most of the top of the cookie and adding so many sprinkles that you couldn’t see any green behind it.
That looked awful, so I don’t recommend doing it that way.

Melt the red candy melts according to the package.

Put the melted red candy in a piping bag with a No. 4 tip.
If you’re doing the ziptop bag hack, make sure the hole you cut in the corner is smaller than the one you cut for the green candy melts.
Pipe a bow onto the green wreath. Continue until you’re done with all the cookies.
If you’re not steady and don’t think you can pipe the bows, you can actually buy a silicone bow mold, pipe the red candy melts into that, and then attach them with a dab of melted chocolate when you’re ready.

Christmas Wreath Oreo Cookies: Frequently Asked Questions
Chocolate-covered Oreo cookies will last for up to two weeks on the counter at room temperate and up to a month in the fridge, so you can definitely make these ahead of time.
Once you get the hang of dipping Oreo cookies, you’ll see how easy it is. But, if you really don’t feel comfortable, there are silicone Oreo molds online that you can order and use.
The only time I use a mold is when I’m making baseball Oreo cookies. Otherwise, I hand dip them.

- 15 red candy melts
- 1/2 oz. nonpareil sprinkles
Instructions

- Pick the Oreo cookie up with a fork and tap the fork on the side of the bowl to allow the excess chocolate to drip off.

- Continue with all the cookies. Let them cool completely. (1 hour)
- Melt the green candy melts according to the package.
- Put the melted green candy into a piping bag with a No. 7 tip.
