When I’m putting together our Halloween treats for trick or treaters, I always try to put together some non-candy Halloween treats, just as an option.
Of course, most trick or treaters are coming for the candy. Free candy is the best part of Halloween, right? Even better than picking out your Halloween costume.
But, sometimes, kids can’t have candy. It feels like it’s more prominent lately than when I was a kid. Maybe it’s allergies or overbearing parents who love the Switch Witch or maybe people are still just really scared about razor blades being snuck into wrappers. I don’t know. But, whatever it is, I let people do their thing. Come trick or treat at our door and you get a choice of candy or something non-edible.
And, believe it or not, kids light up when they see something other than candy as an option. I mean, they usually have a bag full of candy but they don’t have a mustache tattoo.
Yes, that’s one of the options I give them. And you can too if you make these DIY Mustache Tattoo Halloween Party Favors.
They’re so easy to put together for your trick or treaters or to send in for any school Halloween parties your kids’ classes might be having, mostly because I did all the hard work for you. I already created the printable and linked it below. All you need to do is purchase some tattoos, print the printable, and assemble.

If you found these Halloween-themed cards, but you were actually looking for a Valentine’s Day version, don’t worry. That happens a lot.

DIY Mustache Tattoo Halloween Party Favors Supplies:
You can get the full list of supplies in the how to card below.
- Free I Mustache You To Have A Happy Halloween printable – The printable is available for free at the end of this post.
- Paper trimmer – Using a paper trimmer to cut is faster than scissors and makes a nice, straight cut, so we always use that when we cutting these types of printables.
- Scissors – This is so you can cut the mustache tattoos from their sheet. If they were more even, we would just use the paper trimmer.
- Mustache temporary tattoos – You need mustaches for the play on words, but you could substitute stickers if you don’t want tattoos.
- Tape
How To Make DIY Mustache Tattoo Halloween Party Favors:
Print the free I Mustache You To Have A Happy Halloween printable below.
That makes this craft even easier. I already made the printable for you. All you have to do is print it.
The print is formatted to fit on an 8.5- x 11-inch piece of printer paper so you can easily print it at home.
You can print them on typical printer paper or, if you want to make them a little more sturdy, you can print them on card stock. Either will fit the cards.

Use the paper trimmer to cut the printable into four rectangles.

Use the scissors to cut out a single mustache tattoo from the strip.

Roll a small piece of tape and put it on the back of the tattoo.

Stick the tattoo into the blank space on the printable, so it reads as the word “mustache” to make it read: I must ask you to have a happy Halloween.
Quick note: The mustache tattoos that I used in this post are 4-inches wide and from Dollar Tree. So, eight for a dollar. That’s a frugal Halloween favor.
You can purchase temporary tattoos from your local party supplies stores or online. If you do order different ones than I used, just try to keep them as close to 4-inches wide as possible so that they fit properly on the card.
If you want, you could use the finger mustache tattoos. They’re smaller and would fit a little awkwardly on this card, but parents would be happier because they’d rather send their kids to school with a finger tattoo than a huge mustache on their face the day after Halloween.
Continue until you’re out of tattoos.

Then, just put them in with the rest of your Halloween treats and let trick or treaters choose a treat.
At the end of the night, if you have any leftover, you can just pull them off from the cards and use them for another project (which is why I have a similar craft for Valentine’s Day).

Free Halloween Mustache Tattoos Printable
We made a free Halloween mustache tattoo printable that you can use to easily make this craft. It says, “I (blank) you to have a Happy Halloween” on it.
It a PDF file formatted to fit an 8.5- x 11-inch piece of paper. Right click it, then save it however you typically save PDF files, then print it at home when you’re ready to use it.

DIY Mustache Tattoo Halloween Party Favors: Frequently Asked Questions
If you have double sided tape, that’s a better way to affix the mustache than rolling the tape, just because it’s a little bit easier. I never have double sided tape at home, so I just roll it.
The PDF in this post isn’t editable, so you’re not able to edit the colors or the text.
If you wanted something similar, but different, you could design your own printable using a site like Canva (that’s what I used to design these).
In order for the play on words to work, you need to use some sort of mustache in this craft. If you don’t want to use temporary tattoos, you could use self adhesive fake mustaches instead. Those come off easier, which may be better, especially for class parties.
If you wanted, you could use mustache straws too, although those are a little bulky and are harder to stick to the card. I wouldn’t pick those, personally, but I’m just trying to give you a few other ideas in case you really don’t want to use temporary tattoos.
