I love cute desserts. Any time we have a pot luck at the clubhouse in our community, I bring something sweet, crafty, and adorable.
So no one was too surprised when I brought these Flip Flop Nutter Butter Cookies. But, everyone loved them. And if you make them, your guests will love them just as much.
They’re super easy to make, because they’re a no bake dessert, but I will say this: Make them in batches. Cookie icing is hard to squeeze after a while and your hand might start cramping. So, if you’re making a bunch of these, you’ll want to give your hand a break in between.

Nutter Butter Flip Flop Cookies Ingredients:

- Nutter Butter cookies – Any brand, including the generic brand, are fine.
- Cookie icing -You can use candy melts instead of cookie icing.
- Star sprinkles – If you can’t find stars, large sugar pearl sprinkles will work.
- Graham crackers – This is for the presentation, not the cookies themselves.
How To Make Nutter Butter Flip Flop Cookies:

Start with a Nutter Butter cookie. That’s the sole of the flip flop.
Use the cookie icing to draw the straps on the flip flop, starting from the right edge of the middle and curving up towards the top of the cookie. Don’t go all the way to the top, since the toe post isn’t at the top of the flip flop.
You also want to try to angle the straps towards the inside of the flip flop, just like an actual flip flop strap curves.

When that’s done, mimic is, starting from the left edge of the cookie.

Put a star sprinkle where the straps meet.

Use the cookie icing to create an outline across the entire edge of the Nutter Butter cookie.
Repeat and make a second layer of icing across the outside.
When you’re making these, it’s best to do two at a time, per color, so that you can make pairs and keep them together.

When you’re completely done, with the cookies, it’s time to make the sand. Place graham crackers in a zip top bag, then crush them using a rolling pin.
Spread the “sand” over a cookie sheet, then lay the flip flop cookies on top. Do you have to do this? No. But it adds to the appeal of it.

If you have leftover cookies, or if you made these ahead of time, you can store them in an airtight container. You don’t need to store them in the fridge, even in hot weather, because cookie icing should not melt. Although, if you want, you can put them in the fridge. It won’t hurt them.
When you’re storing them, you want to store them in a single layer. Do not stack these cookies. Cookie icing will harden, but not completely. So if you stack these on top of each other, the weight of the cookies will smush the icing and ruin all of your hard work.
If you’re having a party and want to make these cookies ahead of time, you absolutely can do that. We suggest making them one week or less before party time.
When you’re storing these, make sure to store them in an airtight container in a single layer so you don’t ruin the icing (more details about that in the question above).
