Today is National Hot Dog Day, a day I can still celebrate thanks to the book I never read in high school.
Okay, some backstory.
I was very studious in high school. I read every book assigned to us, except one: Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. But, I had a very good reason to not read it: At backyard barbecues, I only eat hot dogs.
If I read a book about the meat packaging industry and what goes into hot dogs, well, I wouldn’t eat them ever again. And then at barbecues, I’d be sitting with a plate of potato salad, fielding questions about why I’m on a starch-only diet and would I like some meat.
So, I read the Cliff Notes, and I got a 101 on the test and no one was the wiser.
And I still eat hot dogs.
I tell you this all today because the third Wednesday in July (July 16 this year) is National Hot Dog Day, and there are bunch of great deals in honor of National Hot Dog Day. So, of course, we collected them all in this list.
