It’s no secret that I love 2 Ingredient Dough. I use it to make everything from pizza to pita chips. The biggest trend is 2 Ingredient Dough Everything Bagels. So, if you make those, listen up because I have a smart 2 Ingredient Dough Everything Bagel hack for you.
But let’s back up a minute and talk about 2 ingredient dough.
Two ingredient dough is exactly that: dough made with two ingredients. You can check out our 2 Ingredient Dough recipe to find out how to make it, but the short version is mix equal parts self-rising flour with non-fat Greek yogurt and that’s it. You have a dough.
2 Ingredient Dough Everything Bagel Hack
Lots of people discovered everything bagel seasoning after discovering 2 Ingredient Dough. They went hand-in-hand in the Weight Watchers community. You can buy everything bagel seasoning online or in stores.
Whenever I see it in stores, I stock up on it. I usually buy three at a time so that we have it handy. Everything bagel seasoning is great on chicken, roasted potatoes, or, of course, on homemade bagels.
What every recipe will tell you to do is make the dough and form it into bagels. Then, you have two options. You can either sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on top or you can make an egg wash, put it on the bagels, then sprinkle the seasoning. The egg wash does give the bagels a really nice color, but honestly, it doesn’t add anything to the bagels. So I skip it every time and save the egg.
For a while, I was sprinkling the everything bagel seasoning on top of my homemade bagels. But my mom noticed how much seasoning was left behind on the tray after sprinkling. She also saw how much fell off when you ate the bagel.
So, her 2 Ingredient Dough Everything Bagel hack … add the seasoning right into the dough. Mix together the self-rising flour, yogurt, and everything bagel seasoning all at once. Then, when you’re making the bagels, the seasoning is already added so you don’t need to worry about an egg wash or worry about so much of the seasoning falling off.
That’s actually a really frugal tip too because you are saving money. You’re using 100% of the seasoning instead of only the majority of it since now, none of it is lost on the tray or plate while you’re eating.
