Free is my favorite price. If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ve heard me say that before. But it’s true. I love using all my coupons and savings apps to get everything I can for free.

When I was first starting out, though, I got the majority of my freebies as free samples.

And I still request them. They’re a great way to try out new products and stretch your budget, which goodness knows we all need right now.

If you’re wondering where you can get free samples, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve put together this list of the best places to get free samples.

Three mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash with the words "6 Reasons To Request Free Samples Before Your Vacation" digitally written above them.

I make sure to always request free samples before I travel. That way, I can take the tiny shampoos and toothpaste in my travel bag, then throw them away before I travel home.

For more about that, check out our 6 Reasons To Request Free Samples Before Your Vacation post.

MySavings.com

MySavings.com is my favorite site to find free samples. I’ve been using it for forever and very often post freebies that I find these on our social media pages.

The site is updated multiple times per day with free samples, plus simple directions explaining how to request them.

MySavings is actually where I found out about AESTURA ATOBARRIER365 Cream. I saw the free sample offer there and requested it. I used it for a while and it made my skin feel so hydrated. So, once my free sample was finished, I ordered it from Amazon — and have been ordering it ever since.

So, keep that in mind when you’re requesting free samples. Just like how some people say they’re foster failures when they start out as a foster home for a dog and then adopt it, I’m a freebie failure sometimes and end up falling in love with a product (which, for the brand, is the point of offering the sample in the first place).

SendMeASample.com

Another great website to get samples from is SendMeASample.com. You used to need a voice assistant, like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, to request most of the samples. Occasionally, you could go to the website and scroll and see what was available to request that way.

Now, you don’t need a device, which is great for those of us who don’t have an Alexa or Google home device.

The site doesn’t have freebies that often, but when it does, they’re good ones.

Gratsy

Gratsy is a mobile app, so hopefully you have some room on your phone for it.

It offers sample boxes if you qualify, the most recent being a box with three full-sized toothpastes.

The Gratsy samples are mostly snack and beauty boxes. I got a snack box a while back and it was filled to the top with tasty snack bars.

There was an Old El Paso box last year for National Taco Day with full-sized rice, taco shells, a nice cutting board, and more.

These boxes do go pretty quickly, because they’re so good, so open the app every so often. And if you see a box, jump on it.

Ripple Street

Ripple Street, formerly House Party, is a great place to get some freebies.

It’s a website (although it does have a mobile app now) where you can apply to receive a package with various items. Depending on the event you apply for, you’ll either get a box of goodies mailed to you or you’ll get a gift card to purchase a specific item at a grocery store.

Sometimes, you’re asked to host friends and family (I did this before and received bags and bags of Hershey’s chocolate, which I shared with 20+ of my friends and family members when we tailgated at a New York Mets game — and if you’ve been with Drugstore Divas since the beginning, you actually remember those photos).

Other times, all you’re asked to do is tell your friends and family about the products you’ve tried. And, then there’s the option of sharing on social media.

And then, its newest option, is where you buy a product and submit your receipt to get your money pack. Personally, I don’t do this one because one, you need the app and I just don’t want more apps on my phone and two, I do this already with cash back sites like Ibotta and Aisle, so I don’t need to add another one to my list.

Social Media

If you follow brands on social media, you may have seen them offer free samples (either in feed or via sponsored posts in your feed).

Click on them.

What’s great is that when you click “Get Offer”, the information you put in your social media account will auto populate, making it so much easier for you (as long as you used your real name and address when you joined social media).

Fun fact: As I’m typing this, I refreshed my Instagram feed and a sample from Neutrogena for acne patches just came up.

Drugstore Beauty Counters

Years ago, Walgreens and CVS both had beauty programs, called Beauty Enthusiast and CVS Beauty Insiders, respectively, where you could earn free beauty products based on your purchases.

Now, you can just walk up to the beauty counter and ask for free samples.

Of course, what you get is based on what the beauty counter has and how generous the beauty consultant is.

Personally, I wouldn’t go in solely looking for samples. But if you’re picking up a mobile order or going in for one of the deals we’ve posted, stop by the counter since you’re already there.

Grocery Stores

If you’re looking for free samples of food items, keep your eyes out for Try Nights at your local grocery stores. Our local Lowes Foods and Publix stores hold them quite often.

You’ll get an email ahead of time (so sign up for the supermarket’s email list) letting you know what is going to be featured. It’s usually new products that brands are trying to roll out.

Around Thanksgiving, our Lowes Foods puts out a spread with really fun Thanksgiving-centric recipes. I went once and there were mini cornucopias made from croissants and stuffed with chicken salad (that you could buy prepared in store).

Target & Amazon Baby Registries

Target has a great offer for expecting parents. If you make a Target baby registry, then have $10 off of your registry purchased, you’ll qualify for a Baby Registry Welcome Kit filled with free samples and Target Circle offers.

Amazon has the same offer when you create an Amazon baby registry. You’ll get a free Welcome Box when you create your registry and $10 in items are purchased off it.

Sounds like a good reason to register at both places if you ask me.
