When Pete and I were first dating, we went apple picking at Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm in Yorktown Heights, New York. We picked our fill of apples — and then some — and were checking out the store when we stopped and saw some cider.

That would go great with rum, Pete said.

And so, the idea for spiced apple cider (which I kept calling spiked apple cider in my mind — which it is, really, Pete says) was born.

My daughter moved to Yorktown Heights a year ago - I'll have to make sure she knows about this orchard! She's always looking for new things to do there.
