Alton Brown once said, “Always have a purple breakfast” and it was something we took to heart. He didn’t mean adding a ton of food coloring to your pancakes, rather, he meant having berries for breakfast. So we started making smoothies. They’re delicious, easy to whip up ahead of time, and something you can completely vary based on your fruit choices. This time, I went with a mango banana berry detox smoothie.
Let’s talk quick about detoxwater. We were sent three varieties to try: original (lychee and white grape), pinamint (pineapple and mint) and mangaloe (mango). Since we usually add mangos to our breakfast smoothies, I went with mangaloe.
If you need a way to use the rest of the bananas in the bunch (since this recipe only needs one banana), try something off our Budget-Friendly Banana Recipes list.
Mango Banana Berry Detox Smoothie
What You’ll Need:
- 1 mango
- 1 banana
- 1.25 cup frozen blackberries
- 16oz. (1 bottle) mangaloe detoxwater
What You’ll Do:
Peel and slice a banana, putting half in two single serve blender cups.
Fill the cup to the “max fill” line with frozen blackberries (approx. .75 cups per blender cup).
Fill to the “max fill” line with mangaloe detoxwater. You will be able to fix about half the bottle in each.
Blend. Pour and serve.
Would you make this?

This recipe sounds so delicious. I've never heard of having a purple breakfast but now i'm inspired to start adding berries to my breakfast! I'll have to try to the detox water, too!

This looks super good! Smoothies are not my favorite, because I can't stand to drink bits and seeds...but more and more I wish I had the finances to invest in a good blender. Thanks for sharing this recipe! Happy Saturday! Megs
