Where To Get Fast Food Fish Sandwiches For Lent (20+ locations!)

It’s time for every fast food restaurant to remind you that it has fish on the menu to lure you in — hook, line, and sinker on Friday during Lent. To help you remember, we put together this list of Where To Get Fast Food Fish Sandwiches For Lent.

For more meals to eat this season, check out all of our posts about Lent.

Lent means no meat for Catholics on Fridays. It also means that singing fish comes back.

You know the one, the guy that sings, “Give me that fish, ahhhhh.”

Because fast food restaurants want you to remember that they sell more than just burgers. They sell fish too. So you can still go there on Friday nights.

Some sandwiches are are around for a limited time, and some are there always, like the Filet-O-Fish, but now is its time to shine.

If you don’t know where to go to get your fish on, don’t worry. We put together this list of fast food fish sandwiches to help you out.

We added a couple fish-centric fast food restaurants on the list too, just to make it feel complete. But, if you see any we missed, be sure to let us know and we’ll add it.

Also, we are posting this a little ahead of Lent, to help you prepare, so a couple restaurants don’t have fish sandwiches on the menu yet. But we added those fast-food chains anyway since we’re anticipating them.

If you’re trying to figure out what to make for Ash Wednesday and your mind just went blank because it’s hard to remember vegetarian meals when you’re put on the spot, our list of Meatless Meals For Ash Wednesday is filled with ideas.

Where To Get Fast Food Fish Sandwiches For Lent

To make this list easier, we put it in alphabetical order by restaurant because, well, ranking them would mean we would have to eat all of them and Lent is only seven weeks.

The outside of an A & W Restaurant.

A&W

A&W has a Crispy Alaska Cod sandwich, which is a a crispy, battered cod fillet with tartar sauce, lettuce, pickles, and a slice of cheese.

An Arby's fast food restaurant.

Arby’s

Arby’s has two limited-time fish sandwiches on its menu.

First, there’s Arby’s Crispy Fish Sandwich: a crispy fish fillet with shredded lettuce and tartar sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun.

Then, there’s Arby’s King’s Hawaiian Fish Deluxe, which is basically the same thing except with a piece of cheddar cheese added and the bun is a Hawaiian roll.

A Bojangles to go bag in front of a Bojangles restaurant.

Bojangles

The Bojangler Fish Sandwich is a panko-breaded Alaskan Pollock filet, seasoned with Bo’s Famous Seasoning, topped with American cheese, and served on a toasted bun with tartar sauce (specifically Duke’s tartar sauce because, well, IYKYK).

There’s also the deluxe version, which adds Bo Sauce, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and pickles.

A Burger King restaurant.

Burger King

Burger King’s Big Fish Sandwich is white Alaskan Pollock with crispy panko breading, sweet tartar sauce, lettuce, and pickles on a toasted potato bun.

The outside of a Captain D's restaurant.

Captain D’s

Captain D’s is a seafood kitchen, so of course it has a ton of fish options.

But, for this list, it has the Giant Fish Sandwich, which is two batter dipped fish fillets on a toasty bun with tartar sauce and shredded lettuce.

It also has Crispy Crunchy Shrimp, which are a Lent-only offering of golden butterfly shrimp coated in flaky, crushed wontons.

The outside of a Carl's Jr. restaurant.

Carl’s Jr.

Carl’s Jr. has the Redhook Beer-Battered Fish Sandwich, which is a redhook beer-battered fish fillet with shredded lettuce and tartar sauce served on a toasted bun.

They’re calling it a redhook filet, but I heard it’s actually a pollock fillet.

A Checkers fast food restaurant.

Checkers

Checkers has a, simply named, Crispy Fish Sandwich, which is a crispy fish filet with iceberg lettuce and tartar sauce between toasted sesame seed buns.

The outside of a Culver's restaurant.

Culver’s

Culver’s North Atlantic Cod Sandwich, which is available year-round, is a hand cut, hand battered, cooked to fish sandwich topped with tartar sauce featuring olives, lettuce, and Wisconsin cheddar cheese on a lightly buttered, toasted hoagie roll.

It also has a seasonal Northwoods Walleye Sandwich, which, similar to the sandwich above, is hand battered and cooked to order, then topped with tartar sauce and shredded lettuce (no cheese) on a lightly buttered, toasted hoagie roll.

A Dairy Queen Grill & Chill restaurant.

Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen’s Wild Alaskan Fish Sandwich is usually one of the chain’s menu items by now, but I actually don’t see it yet for 2026, so I’m not sure if it’s coming back later in the season or not.

A Del Taco restaurant.

Del Taco

Is a taco a sandwich? For our list it is.

Del Taco has Beer Battered Fish Tacos on its menu. Not fish, and maybe not a sandwich, but it has Jumbo Shrimp Tacos on the menu too.

The outside of a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurant.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburger

Freddy’s usually has a Deluxe Crispy Fish Sandwich, which is battered Alaska flounder with tartar sauce, lettuce, pickles and melted American cheese on a toasted bun. It’s not on the 2026 menu yet, but we anticipate it coming back.

The outside of a Hardee's restaurant.

Hardee’s

Hardee’s Redhook Beer-Battered Fish Sandwich, which is a redhook beer-battered fish fillet with shredded lettuce and tartar sauce served on a toasted bun.

And, just like it’s sister chain Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s is calling it a redhook filet, but I heard it’s actually a pollock fillet.

A Jack in the Box restaurant.

Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box usually has a fish sandwich on its menu, but I don’t see it listed for 2026 yet.

A Long John Silver's restaurant, which is attached to a KFC.

Long John Silver’s

Long John Silver’s has a ton of seafood offerings, obviously, but for this list, we just care about the appropriately-named Fish Sandwich, which is a fillet of Alaskan Pollock, with tarter sauce and pickles, on a bun.

The World's Largest Entertainment McDonald's in Orlando, Florida.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s sells the always-on-the-menu-but-not-often-purchased Filet-O-Fish, which is a wild-caught Alaskan Pollock fish fillet patty with a slice of American cheese and tartar sauce on a soft, steamed bun.

The outside of a Popeyes restaurant.

Popeyes

Popeyes boast the Cajun Flounder Sandwich, a flounder fish fillet on a buttery brioche bun with pickles and tarter sauce.

I don’t actually see it on the menu yet for 2026 (but I do see a Cajun fish dinner), so Popeyes flounder fish sandwich is probably on its way.

A Smashburger restaurant in a strip mall.

Smashburger

Smashburger usually sells a Beer Battered Pacific Cod Sandwich with American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and tartar sauce. It’s not on the menu yet for 2026, but we anticipate it coming back.

The outside of a Sonic Drive-In.

Sonic Drive-In

Sonic’s Fish Sandwich is a wild caught Alaska pollock fillet with tartar sauce and lettuce on a toasted bun. I don’t see it on the 2026 menu yet, but it should be back.

The outside of a Wendy's fast food restaurant.

Wendy’s

Wendy’s Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich, a Wild Caught Alaskan pollock fillet with lettuce, a slice of American cheese, pickles and tartar sauce on our premium bun, is usually on the menu by now, but I don’t see it yet for 2026.

We anticipate Wendy’s sandwich is coming, though.

A Whataburger location in an airport.

Whataburger

The Whatacatch Sandwich is a fried wild-caught Alaskan pollock fillet in panko breadcrumbs topped with lettuce, two slices of tomato, and tartar sauce in a soft bun. You can add melted American cheese and/or a side of creamy pepper sauce to it as well.

You can also order the Whatacatch Platter, which is two pieces of fish with fries for a limited time as well.

White Castle in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.

White Castle

White Castle’s Panko Fish Sliders are lightly breaded Alaska Pollock with American, Jalapeno, or Smoked Cheddar Cheese (and they remind me so much of my childhood because of a story that’s so incredibly funny and involves a cashier repeating, “You want cheeeeeese on you fiiiiiish?” over and over).

The outside of a Zaxby's fast food restaurant.

Zaxby’s

Zaxby’s doesn’t have a fish sandwich, but it does sell fried shrimp, in case you need a pescatarian option.

Which of these is your favorite? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
