A few years ago, I brought fudge that looked like watermelon to a potluck at our community’s clubhouse. The next day, I saw a woman who was at the potluck. She ran up to me and was like, ““”I need to know how you made that fudge.”

I told her it was super easy and listed the ingredients. I explained how to mix the three ingredients together and pour in a pan when she stopped me.

“No,” she said. “I need to know exactly how you made it look like watermelon because my grandkids will be obsessed with that.”

It does take a little more effort to make things look cute rather than just taste good, but moments like this, when people run up to you to find out about the decorations on your recipe, not the ingredients of it, that’s when you really realize that people do eat with their eyes first.

If you want to make something that has people running up to you afterwards, these watermelon-inspired recipes fit the bill.

These recipes don’t have any actual watermelon or watermelon extract in them, so they don’t taste like watermelon. They just look like watermelon.

Watermelon Fudge

This watermelon fudge recipe uses our basic three ingredient fudge recipe. The main difference is the fudge itself is split into two bowls with green food coloring added one and pink food coloring added to the other. It’s then layered and covered with chocolate chips before it sets.

Each little square of fudge looks like a cross-section of watermelon. The better part about this though is you can actually eat and enjoy the rind.

Cake pops were super popular about a decade ago and then they sort of fell off for a little while until Starbucks started making some really cute ones. The only problems with the Starbucks ones are they sell out really quickly and they take, like, half your paycheck to buy one.

So instead of buying them, make these really cute watermelon cake pops. They resemble watermelon the most of any of the recipes on this list because the “seeds” and “flesh” are on the inside and the green “rind” is only outside, just like a fresh watermelon.

Except you can enjoy the rind on this one because it is made out of candy melts.

You can easily jazz up a box of cake mix when you make these watermelon cupcakes.

It also uses store-bought icing, so all you’re really doing is focusing on the decorating. That makes your life so much easier and I promise you, your friends will enjoy looking at these so much that they won’t even worry that you didn’t make anything from scratch.

The box cake mix is colored green and the icing is colored pink so that your cupcakes look like super cute watermelons.
