Pete and I were in Trader Joe’s the other day and I saw portabella mushrooms. I wanted to pick the up and make an amazing sandwich that I had at a restaurant a few weeks ago.
But when I flipped over the package, there was a recipe for a portabella mushroom Philly cheese “steak” (the recipe called it something else but my name was a little easier).
I figured that was a great idea, so I made them for dinner the other night.
What You’ll Need:
8oz. portabella mushrooms
1 large onion
4 slices of cheese
Salt & pepper to taste
What You’ll Do:
Slice the portabella mushroom.
Slice the onion.
Saute the onions and mushrooms for about 10 minutes (longer if you want them more carmelized).
Toast the bread.
Top the bread with the mushroom and onion mix. Sprinkle salt and pepper, to taste. Top with two piece of cheese. At this point, you can retoast the sandwich if you want to melt the cheese a little more.
