Pete and I were ishopping the other day and I saw portabella mushrooms. I wanted to pick the up and make an amazing sandwich that I had at a restaurant a few weeks ago. But when I flipped over the package, there was a recipe for a portabella mushroom Philly cheese “steak”.
I figured that was a great idea, so I modified the recipe and made them for dinner the other night.
Portabella Mushroom Philly Cheese “Steaks”
What You’ll Need:
- 8 oz. portabella mushrooms
- 1 large onion
- 4 oz. cheddar cheese
- Salt & pepper to taste
What You’ll Do:
Slice the portabella mushroom.
Slice the onion.
Saute the onions and mushrooms for about 20 minutes until they are carmelized.
About halfway through, season them with salt and pepper.
Slice your cheese and toss it into the veggie mixture, incorporating it until it is melty.
Toast the bread, then top the bread with the mushroom and onion mix.
