I had heard of people making dessert in the slow cooker, but until this Slow Cooker Apple Pie Cake recipe, I had never tried it. It works great and is an easy way to keep your oven off.

How To Make Slow Cooker Apple Pie Cake:

Bring apple pie filling to a boil. Add cranberries.

Pour the mix into a slow cooker lined with a slow cooker liner. These are amazing, by the way. I had never used them before and I can’t imagine cooking without them now. You can just pull them out of the slow cooker and it’s clean. Now that’s easy clean up.

Stir together flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.

Add milk and melted butter. Stir until doughy.

Stir in walnuts.

Evenly spread the doughy mixture over the apple mixture. Spread this out really evenly. It will be sticky, but letting it clump will ruin it.

Bring apple juice, butter, and brown sugar to a boil.

Pour over the mixture in the slow cooker.

Cook on high for 2.5 hours. Cool before serving.

Ingredients

  • 20 oz. can apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1.25 cups apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
