Giveaway: Win An African Soapstone Box From World Vision (Ends 12/26)

Drugstore Divas received no compensation for this post. World Vision is responsible for prize fulfillment.

Yesterday, I told you about World Vision. If you missed that post, you can check it out here.

In short, it’s a site where you can sponsor a child, donate and “purchase” an animal for communities, or purchase gifts. The majority of the purchase price of these items is a donation. On the website, you can see who will benefit from your donation. The gift we got was the Fair-Trade Coffee Set, which benefits orphans of the Kamba tribe.

You can see the handcrafted gifts available to purchase from World Vision. Pay special attention to the African Soapstone Box. The hand-carved soapstone box is etched and designed by local artisans in Kenya, and the income from this donation helps provide medical care for their families. The box weighs a bit over one pound and is six inches long. The inside opening is four inches long, and it doesn’t lock. It’s great to store rings and other small jewelry or small items.

And it could be yours.

We are giving this box (an $85 value) to one lucky Drugstore Divas reader. The giveaway starts now and ends at 11:59pm EST on December 26. The winner must be a US resident who is 18 or older. The winner will have 24 hours to respond to a winning email before another winner is selected.

The other day I realized my United Mileage points were expiring in 24 hours, so to keep my miles, I donated 500 miles to Feeding America. You just need to have one transaction every 18 months to keep your miles. Did you know you can donate flyer miles?

We love World Vision. Our Denomination also has a ministry that buys and sells wares from women all over the world, as well as purchasing livestock for families overseas.

I donated some items to the American Kidney Services last week – I don’t have much money, but I have lots of “things” I’ve gotten on clearance and inherited, many still new. AKS has ways to use almost anything – they say they even sell rags.
