We have a lot of coasters in our house. Some of them were taken from bars, some of them were given to us as gifts, and we have a really nice set that we got for review once upon a time. What we lack, though, are DIY painted patriotic coasters. And with the amount of America-themed BBQ’s we host each year, we really could use some. So, of course, I did what any normal person would do. I made them. They were pretty simple, so you could make them in an afternoon before your July 4th barbecue.

What To Do If Your Cat Gets Fleas

What To Do If Your Cat Gets Fleas

This post is sponsored by Fetch My Meds and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to create awareness about the Fetch My Meds pharmacy discount program for pets, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Fetch My Meds is not responsible for the content of this article.Did you cat start itching? If it has fleas, definitely read this post from www.drugstoredivas.net to find out what to do if your cat gets fleas.

I was taking a walk a few weeks ago, when I was cat-sitting my parents’ cat Sox, and I came across a feral cat. For a moment, I thought about taking it home to give my parents’ cat a friend. Pets need friends too! I leaned down to pet the feral cat, and then thought better of it. The cat could have fleas … and fleas was not something I wanted to deal with while I was cat-sitting.

If you happen to end up dealing with fleas, it’s not fun. But it is something you can take care of at home without having to call in professional help.

What To Do If Your Cat Gets Fleas

Spray your home.
You can pick up a flea spray at your local grocery store. As soon as you realize your cat has fleas, purchase that and spray it on your sofas, rugs, pillows, etc. Follow the instructions on the back of the bottle to find out how frequently you need to spray.

Comb the cat.
Hunt down your feline culprit and comb it. I know, it sounds silly, but you actually should comb your cats on a regular basis anyway. You’ll remove a bunch of hair from him or her, which is great. That means less hair for you to sweep up and less hair for your cat to lick off, which means less hairballs. For now, if you keep your cat’s fur tidy, you’ll be able to better see the fleas and see if everything else you’re doing is working.

Apply flea medication.
You definitely want to apply flea medication as soon as possible. If you have an outdoor cat, you’ll actually want to apply it on a regular basis, not just when there’s an infestation. Check with the medication on how to apply, but most will tell you to pull up the skin on the back of your cat’s neck and apply it on the skin.

If you do need flea medication (or things like tick or heartworm relief also) on a regular basis, check out the veterinary prescription discount card Fetch My Meds. Enrollment is completely free and can help pet parents save up to 70% off of their pet’s medications too. Speaking of pet meds, did you know pet parents can ask their veterinarian for a written prescription? Definitely bring that up with your vet next time you’re there.

Get a flea collar.
It’s a good idea to have a flea collar on your cat when there’s an infestation going on. If you have multiple cats, but only one is dealing with fleas, you’ll still want to put flea collars on all of them to be safe. Most only last for a certain amount of time, so as with everything else, be sure to read the package to make sure you are using it properly.

Carry On Must Haves

Carry On Must Haves

This Carry On Must Haves post is sponsored by Grande Cosmetics and brought to you through ShopShare Network. All thoughts and opinions belong to Drugstore Divas.

Flying somewhere this summer? Be sure to check out this Carry On Must Haves post from www.drugstoredivas.net before packing your bags.

I had a long distance relationship for a really long time, and that meant quite a few trips flying back and forth. I sort of got really good at changing from comfy shorts into a cute dress in an airport bathroom. Because when you’re on the flight, you want to be comfortable. And when you’re off it, you want to be cute. Doing so involves quite a bit of planning and making sure you have the right items in your carry on. Even now, I make sure to pack everything I could possibly need in a carry on because, well, that bag stays with you at all times and your luggage sometimes it gets lost along the way.

Carry On Must Haves

There are a few items you must have in your carry on, even if you’re checking luggage too.

Sweatshirt: It’s always cold on a plane. No matter what season you’re flying in, it seems like the air conditioning is always on full blast. Unless you’re on the tarmac. When you’re sitting there, the plane gets so hot. So having a light sweatshirt in your bag for when you’re actually flying — and being able to take it off when you’re waiting — is a necessity.

Book or tablet: I used to pack magazines when I flew until I started working for myself and needed to work as often as possible. If you can actually take time off, pack a book to read on the plane. If you’re like me and need to work all the time, pack your tablet so you can get some work done. (Last flight I was on, I got five blog posts done! It’s amazing how much you can accomplish when you don’t have WiFi to distract you!).

Headphones: If you’re using your tablet for your playlist or an audiobook instead of work, bring headphones with you and plug them into your device. You don’t want to play DJ for the plane, and your fellow passengers might not want to hear your novel.

Contacts and solution: I often wear glasses to fly, especially on international flights. Going to Japan is a 14 hour flight, and that means I’m going to sleep at some point. If you wear contacts, you know that sleeping in them is just awful. It’s not great for your eyes, but sleeping in them also dries them out. And when you wake up, it’s not a good experience. So wear your glasses, pack your contacts and solution in your carry on (making sure it’s a travel-sized contact solution) and pop them in your eyes in the airport bathroom.

Makeup: When you’re in the bathroom putting in your contacts, you’ll probably also want to freshen up your makeup … especially if you’re meeting someone exciting when you exit the airport. You want to look your best, and that often means a little makeup. I’m not saying you need to go overboard. Plus, your favorite BB Cream is probably not carry on friendly (mine isn’t). So pack the minimum: face wipes, a travel-sized mascara, and GrandeLIPS.

The GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper comes in 12 colors, plus a clear gloss, and is available at Sephora.com. What’s fun about it is the paraben-free lip plumper is clinically proven to increase overall lip hydration, volume, softness, and firmness in 30 days of usage (when applied twice daily). So if you’re meeting someone special when you get off the plane, start using this a month before your trip and your lips will be plumper and kissably soft by the time you get there.

Empty water bottle: You’re not allowed to bring full water bottles through security, but you are able to bring empty ones. So, pack an empty water bottle (with the cap) in your carry on. Once you get through security, find the closest water fountain and fill it up. If you fill it up before security, you’ll be asked to toss it, so wait until you’re through.

Snacks: Airport snacks are really expensive. I’m always so surprised at how much they charge for things like granola bars and single serve bags of chips. These are the things I like to eat when I’m waiting at the gate, though. So I make sure to pack them in my carry on bag. They’re a lot cheaper to buy at the grocery store when your have a coupon than the airport’s convenience store.

What other carry on must haves do you have? Be sure to comment below!

Thinking about trying GrandeLIPS? Check out this post.

And be sure to find GrandeLIPS at Sephora! Shop now here. Small aside: I’m actually wearing the clear coat as I type this. It’s only been a few days, so my lips look the same, but I’m loving the fact that it’s vanilla-flavored (since vanilla is my fave!). It does give my lips a little temporary heat as it’s being put on, but none of the tingling I’ve felt from previous lip plumper products.

Love Care Bears? You'll LOVE these Care Bear Grumpy Bear doughnuts on www.drugstoredivas.net.

I love my Care Bear. I got him for my third or fourth birthday, and I’ve had him ever since. Poor Pete, but he has to share a bed with a woman and a Care Bear every night. It could be worse!

But because I love Care Bears, I really love these Care Bears Grumpy Bear doughnuts. You can purchase them at Carolina Doughnuts, but, if you’re not around there, they’re actually really easy to make … if you put a little time into them.

Care Bears Grumpy Bear Doughnuts

What You’ll Need:

What You’ll Do:

Mash two of the doughnuts. Stuff them into the holes of the other doughnuts. If you want to skip this step, you can just buy jelly doughnuts since they don’t have a hole.

Add two drops of blue food coloring to one of the cans of frosting. Mix until the color is consistent.

Split the second can of frosting into two bowls. Leave one as is. Add two drops of black food coloring to the other and mix until the color is consistent.

Use a spatula to cover the top of the doughnut with blue frosting.

Stick two candy melts into the top to make “ears.” Cover the ears with the blue frosting.

Let set for at least 30 minutes.

Spoon the white frosting into a quart-sized bag. Cut off a small section of the tip (to turn it into a piping bag). Pipe a circle for the mouth section.

Spoon the black frosting into a bag and follow the same steps to turn it into a piping bag. Pipe two circles for the eyes.

Pipe a white dot onto the eyes.

Spoon the remaining blue frosting into a quart-sized bag, and turn it into a piping bag. Pipe the eyebrows, nose, and mouth.

*Note, if you’re more comfortable, you can use a toothpick for the last two steps.
