These samples are great, but also saving us a ton of money since we haven’t bought face wash in months. We got a scrubbing dish cloth too. My mom loves cleaning products, so I’m wrapping it and putting it in her Christmas stocking.

But my favorite of all was a sample of Starbucks coffee! I’m obsessed with coffee, as I think you know, so getting a tasty sample is perfect for me.

Need to bring a dish to a Mardi Gras party? Try this DIY Mardi Gras Candy Bark from www.drugstoredivas.net.The Mardi Gras party we went to over the weekend required everyone to bring a New Orleans-inspired dish to pass. There was a bunch of dishes with andouille sausage, but only one  DIY Mardi Gras candy bark.

Oh yes, that’s what I brought.

It was beautiful and colorful and perfectly looked like Mardi Gras. Plus, it was a lot easier than cooking crawfish. So, if you have a Mardi Gras party coming up and aren’t in the mood to make jambalaya, this candy bark is for you. Plus, it assures there is a dessert at the party too — in case someone forgot to order a King Cake!

Melt the purple candy melts according to the package. Pour it on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet. Spread it with either an icing knife or the back of a spoon.

Melt the yellow candy melts and drop dollops into the purple candy melts. Begin to spread the dollops out with a toothpick.

Melt the green candy melts and drop dollops of it as well. Spread it with a toothpick, going side to side. Be sure not to go in circles or you will mix it up.

At the very end, swirl the toothpick up and down once.

Headed to a Mardi Gras party but don't have a mask? Make this DIY Mardi Gras Mask from www.drugstoredivas.net.We went to a Mardi Gras party yesterday and the requirement for entry was a mask. Cool, I thought. I’ll just grab two at the store and we’ll be good to go.

Oh, if only it was that easy.

I checked up and down two stores with no masks in sight. So I did what any normal person with time constraints would do. I put together a DIY Mardi Gras mask for me and another for Pete.

I did cheat just a little bit and used a template from Sasquatch Willow to start. Our party was about four hours after I got home from shopping, so I didn’t have time to draw one of those as well. A little Googling and I found her site, which actually has a few templates.

Print out and cut the mask template. Lay it on top of a piece of foam that you want for your top embellishments, and trace it. Cut it out.

Do this for as many masks as you’re planning to make.

Cut the embellishments off of the mask template, so you just have the “eyes” portion. Lay that on top of a second piece of foam and trace it. Cut it out.

Glue it to the larger foam cut out.

Cut out a few diamonds, triangles, and circles, and glue them on to the face of the mask.

Using Mod Podge, paint around the edges of the embellishments. Sprinkle with glitter. When it dries, put on another coat of Mod Podge. That will dry clear and it will seal in the glitter so it’s not falling on your face all night.

When the mask is clear, glue (or tape) the skewer on to the back of the mask so you have a handle. Now you’re ready for Fat Tuesday!

Books To Read To Celebrate Dr. Seuss Day (March 2)

Books To Read To Celebrate Dr. Seuss Day (March 2)

Looking for a way to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day on March 2? Check out this great list of Dr. Seuss books from www.drugstoredivas.net.I love Dr. Seuss. I actually did a report on him when I was in college. Did you know that his dad actually was pushing him to be an actual doctor. He didn’t want that path, but he wanted to please his dad, as we all do, and that’s how he came up with his moniker.

Cool, right?

Also cool: Dr. Seuss has an entire day. March 2, to be exact. That’s a great excuse to pick up some Dr. Seuss Books and read them with your children. Check out our list of great ones below and get them in time for Dr. Seuss Day.

What To Bring When You Visit A New Mom

What To Bring When You Visit A New Mom

This review was made possible by iConnect and Luvs. I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions stated are 100% mine.

Heading to see a mom and her new baby? Here are a few thing to bring when you visit a new mom.If you’re like me, you don’t have kids, but you have friends who are either pregnant or new moms. And of course, you want to visit them and meet the new baby. Bur you don’t really know what to bring, considering you don’t have a baby of your own.

So I asked my friend — young mom to Alex and future mom to baby-on-board — for a few items. I was surprised to know that her list was a bit different than what I actually would have thought. Good thing I asked.

To make sure you bring the right things to a new mom, be sure to check out our list below.

What To Bring When You Visit A New Mom

Food.
It’s hard to cook when you’re taking care of a brand new baby. A new mom needs to fuss over him, not fuss over dinner. So bring over a tray of baked ziti or lasagna, something the mom can put in the freezer. Then, on nights when she’s just too tired to put anything, she can take it out of the freezer and heat it up for an easy meal.

Hand sanitizer.
This is more for you than the new mom. When a baby is brand new, a mom is going to be hyper-concerned over clean hands touching the baby. You might think she is being excessive, but you need to respect her. And so,  carry a little hand sanitizer with you to make sure your hands are clean and ready to hold the baby. Then, “accidentally” leave it behind for the next guests.

White onesies.
Babies are dirty. Oh, they’re so sweet and cute and smell like babies, but they also poop and puke and it’s hard to keep up with the amount of laundry that babies create. Of course, a new mom would love to keep her kid in adorable outfits all the time, but, realistically, she’s probably just putting him in a white onesie. So the more mom has, the better.

Diapers.
Babies go through a lot of diapers. So, even if you picked up some for the baby shower, bring a pack along with you when you go to visit. Mom will sure appreciate it.

Speaking of diapers, you can get a print-at-home Luvs coupon for $1 off any one diaper pack. You can use this coupon at any mass, discount, or grocery stores where Luvs Diapers are sold.

Luvs diapers are softer and more absorbent than ever before, with large stretch tabs for easy fastening, ultra-leakage protection and a money-back guarantee, Luvs Ultra Leakguards with NightLock Plus™ provide the high-quality features babies and parents need for less cost than the premium brands. Sounds perfect to bring to new moms.
