DIY Yarn Hearts

DIY Yarn Hearts

Need a Valentine's Day craft for kids? Check out these DIY Yarn Hearts from www.drugstoredivas.net.Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means you’re probably looking for craft ideas to do with your kids. My friend Mallory (from LuLaRoe Mallory Panchelli) made the cutest DIY yarn hearts craft with her almost two-year-old Amelia. So of course, I had to share it with you.

What’s really great is you probably have all the supplies for this at home. That means you can make them tonight! They’re perfect for grandma and grandpa for Valentine’s Day. You may have to do a little supervising if you have little ones (especially with the scissors), so it’s a fun activity for you both to do together.

Sounds like the perfect chilly day activity.

When the entire heart is covered, tie the last bit to a piece at the top of the heart. Tie a loop at the other end and you can use that to hang it up.

7 Layer Salad

7 Layer Salad

Looking for the ultimate BBQ, tailgate, or pot luck recipe? You'll score a win with this 7 layer salad from www.drugstoredivas.net.When I was young and we would have get togethers, one of the adults would bring 7 layer salad. We would have it at tailgates, parties, wherever. I haven’t had it in so long, so I got hungry for it and decided to make it for our recent tailgate. I forgot how delicious it was.

This recipe makes so much, I was able to have it all week long for leftovers. Yup, my stomach was happy.

Even better, I got to use the 6-in-1 dish we got for our engagement (that I haven’t been able to use too many times before this).

Power Clean Your Bathroom In Only 10 Minutes

Power Clean Your Bathroom In Only 10 Minutes

Learn how to power clean your bathroom in only ten minutes at www.drugstoredivas.net.I don’t mind cleaning. I like having a clean home and I know little magic cleaning fairies aren’t going to come into our home while we’re sleeping and make it sparkle. So it falls on us to sweep and scrub and all those other tasks that just seem like you don’t do anything until you skip them and really don’t do anything. Like wiping the counter. No one notices if you wipe the kitchen counter and it sure seems like it doesn’t make a difference, but skip wiping it for two days and see just how gross it becomes.

So you have to clean, and you have to clean the bathrooms. That’s a task that no one wants to spend too much time on because it’s kind of gross. I remember when I moved into my first apartment, my grandma asked me who was going to clean my toilets. Because surely it was something I had never done before. “I’ll hire someone,” I told her. I had my first, real full-time job and full-time income and thought I was a baller. She laughed and told everyone that I was going to hire someone to scrub my toilets. She was right. The toilet leaning fell on me, just as I’m sure it falls on you.

No worries. I’m a pro now. I figured I would share my secrets with you so you can power clean your bathroom.

Power Clean Your Bathroom In Only 10 Minutes

Minute 1:

  • Pour in the toilet bowl cleaner. Shut the bowl.
  • Use a cleaning wipe (or spray on a paper towel) to wipe down the basin of the toilet and the top of the lid.

Minute 2:

  • Remove everything from the counter/sink (anything below the mirror)
  • Clean the mirror.

Minute 3:

  • Use a cleaning wipe (or spray on a paper towel) to wipe down the counter.

Minute 4:

  • Wash the sink.
  • Wipe the hardware.
  • Put back everything on the counter/sink.

Minutes 5 and 6:

  • Quick scrub the tub.*
  • Wipe the hardware.

Minutes 7 and 8:

  • Sweep the bathroom floor.
  • Vacuum up any dust.

Minute 9:

  • Open the toilet.
  • Use a cleaning wipe (or spray on a paper towel) to wipe down the toilet bowl’s seat (both sides), the base, and the inside of the lid.

Minute 10:

  • Use a toilet brush to scrub the inside of the toilet.
  • Flush.
  • Use a cleaning wipe (or spray on a paper towel) to wipe down the inside of the bowl (cleaning any areas where water flows).

*This is mostly the method I use in our guest bathroom because that shower only gets used when we have guests. Before and after they come, I give it a full cleaning. In between, though, I just give it a quick weekly two minute job.

Done in ten minutes. Seriously. It took me longer to type this post than it takes me to clean the bathrooms.

If you maintain them and do this every week (I do it every Monday), you won’t have to worry about a deep clean that takes forever.

This method works pretty well in our master bathroom as well, although we have a separate tub and shower in there. So I wipe down the tub (which we don’t use regularly) during my weekly clean and we clean the shower and curtain separately.

A Reminder To Be Kind

A Reminder To Be Kind

Be Kind shirtToday is Inauguration Day — which my phone keeps autocorrecting to in aggression day. That could be true also. But this isn’t a political post. We don’t post those here on Drugstore Divas. Regardless of your party lines, who you championed for, we are getting a new president today. You could be smiling or screaming at that sentence, but either way, there will be a new president of the US before the day is through.

Be kind.

No matter what you feel, be kind. Be a gracious winner or a gracious loser. If you don’t have someone to look up to as an example of how to be kind, to be humble, to keep your opinions to yourself, look to this shirt from Cents Of Style. The shirt reads, simply, be kind.

It doesn’t say, “Hold the door open for someone regardless of political affiliation.” But it does. It doesn’t say, “Take a half beat to stop and think when someone posts something you disagree with on Facebook … then scroll by.” But it does. The print isn’t, “Don’t make others feel small because you are feeling big.” But it says that too.

It’s a good lesson, for today and the other 345 days this year.

Life is too short. Time is too precious to waste it with people and situations that don’t matter. You only have 24 hours today, a mere 1,440 minutes. Why waste even just one of those minutes angry? It’s not worth it. And your minute, your day, your life would be so much better if you could spend all your moments smiling and happy.

It starts with being kind.

Start by just letting things go. Don’t get frustrated over the small stuff. Don’t lose friends over Facebook statuses, just be glad you have friends at all. Instead of getting grouchy when you get stuck at a red light, be happy you get to listen to the song on the radio a little longer. When your boyfriend leaves a dish in the sink, just wash it and move on with your day. Letting go of the knee jerk reaction to get angry, to get defensive, to put others in their place will give you more peace. And that will help you to be kind, in those moments and the ones that follow.

If we could all be a bit more kind, starting today on Inauguration Day, and continuing on our life’s journey, wouldn’t this world be a little better?

How will you Be Kind today?
