Medieval Times Review

Medieval Times Review

Drugstore Divas received tickets for this Medieval Times review. All thoughts and opinions belong to Drugstore Divas.

Medieval Times ReviewI wasn’t sure if I could do it, honestly. Eat an entire meal with my hands. It just seemed a bit impossible when I thought about it. Soup, chicken, sides, dessert … one napkin. But that’s really what everyone knows about Medieval Times and all I could think about when Pete and I were planning to go earlier this month.

We entered the castle, picked up our VIP Royalty tickets — which meant we got priority seating, a flag to wave, a rally towel, but still no utensils — and sat in the front row. Our host for the night quickly came over to serve us tomato soup in a bowl with a large handle. You could pick it up and sip easily. Utensils really weren’t needed.

Once we got that out of the way, we were really able to enjoy the show. We sat front row center in the yellow knight’s section. He was our main dude, and we were cheering mainly for him, but also for the other two knights on our half of the arena. And cheer we did. There were feats of strength, which were incredible impressive. Six knights were riding on horseback, grabbing rings with poles. It was so cool to watch them and think about how they were actually competing in these games. There wasn’t CGI or stunt doubles around. Sometimes the men would falter, but mostly they would succeed, and that was so much fun to watch.

After that, there’s a full “scripted” portion of the show where the knights joust and fight so one can (eventually) save the princess.

I actually loved it so much that I want to go back again and bring my parents. I know they would love it. Maybe not the eating with your hands part, but they would definitely love the show.

Have you been to Medieval Times?

Giveaway: Ornament from Ornaments.com (Ends 1/10)

Giveaway: Ornament from Ornaments.com (Ends 1/10)

Drugstore Divas recent this ornament from Ornaments.com for this post.

Win an ornament from Ornaments.comThis is the year where I need a do over. Christmas came and went and, for personal reasons, I didn’t even realize it was on its way. We never bought a tree, we didn’t hang any decorations, and our brand new annual ornament from Ornaments.com is still sitting in the beautiful box it came in.

You win, 2016. I give up.

I think a lot of people feel that same way about 2016 too. It’s the year that will get skipped in history books, ones that parents won’t talk about with their children. Not really, but that’s how it feels! Right? It’s the year we lost Prince and Bowie, our political situation turned our country sideways, and, as someone on Facebook put it, Fidel Castro survived 638 assassination attempts and even he couldn’t survive 2016. So trust me. If 2016 is kicking your butt, I get it.

But 2016 wasn’t all bad. Especially for me and Pete. Our new home was completed in March of this year. We moved in a few weeks after closing, and we have an incredible home now. So that is the memory of 2016 that I will carry with me through the years. And that’s why I picked the beautiful Old Fashioned House ornament. It’s two stories, just like our home, and the banisters match ours too. The ornament glitters, which just is beautiful. We love it. And I can’t wait to hang it on the tree next year.

What about you? What 2016 memory would you immortalize on an ornament?

At Ornaments.com, you have so many choices. You can choose states, sporting events, travel, and more, too. Do you have your eye on a personalized ornament? You’re in luck. We are giving one lucky Drugstore Divas reader a personalized ornament. If you won, which would you pick? Figure that out, and then get ready to enter.

All you need to do is enter via the Rafflecopter form below. The giveaway starts now and ends at 11:59pm EST on January 10. The winner must be a US resident who is 18 or older. The winner has 24 hours to respond to the winning email before another winner may be selected.

Good luck, and happy 2017 too.

Giveaway: Win A Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness (Ends 1/15)

Giveaway: Win A Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness (Ends 1/15)

win a Sleepypod Clickit Sport HarnessWhat did you get your dog for Christmas? If your answer was, “Oops, I forgot,” you’ll probably want to enter this giveaway so you can enter for a chance to win a Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness to keep your pup safe in the car.

It uses an Infinity Loop design and padded vest to absorb energy and distribute and reduce force if you have an accident. Sounds great. Dogs can lie down or sit comfortably with the harness, which is great too.

We didn’t personally check this out, partially because we don’t have a dog. So, if you want to learn more about it, read Budget Earth’s Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness review.

Speaking of, we’re pairing with Budget Earth to give one lucky winner a Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness. The winner gets to choose size and color too.

This giveaway is open to US residents only. It starts now, ends at 11:59pm EST on January 15, and the winner will have 48 hours to respond to the winning email before another winner may be selected.

Donation: Mail Your Old Cards To St. Jude’s

Donation: Mail Your Old Cards To St. Jude’s

donating christmas cards to st. jude'sIt’s that time of year, where you start thinking about taking down and throwing out your Christmas cards. Don’t throw them in the trash, though. Give them new life by donating Christmas cards to St Jude’s.

The children and volunteers at St Jude’s remove the back, then affix a new one. These cards are then bundled together in packs of ten and sold, and the money raised is used to support St Jude’s programs and services.

You can send all cards, including:

  • General Christmas
  • Religious Christmas
  • Easter
  • Birthday
  • Thank You
  • Sympathy
  • Get Well
  • Anniversary
  • All-Occasion Blank Greeting

You cannot, however, send any Disney, Hallmark, or American Greeting cards. Cards must be blank on the backside of the front before sending, so be sure to check them before you send them. Cards that are 5×7 or smaller is preferred.

Send your cards to:
St Jude’s Ranch for Children
100 St. Jude’s St
Boulder City, NV 89005

Cards are accepted year-round, but I usually bundle mine and send them at Christmas, since I have the most cards then. This year, I collected our new home cards, birthday cards, and Christmas cards. I’ll cut off the front and toss out the back, then put all the fronts in a large envelope to send via USPS. You can also send them in a flat rate box in case you have a bunch of cards to donate. Which I actually had the year I asked my mom to save her Christmas cards too.

For more, check out program details here. You can also find out how to purchase card packs via that link as well.

Baked Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

Baked Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

Looking for a new way to eat sweet potatoes? Try this Baked Sweet Potato Casserole from www.drugstoredivas.net.I never had sweet potato casserole before. It was just one of those things that never made an appearance on our Thanksgiving table. For no good reason, I decided this was going to be the year I tried it. We weren’t hosting Thanksgiving, so I decided I would just make it for us as part of dinner one night.

I asked for recipes on Drugstore Divas’ Facebook page and they were just all more involved than I wanted them to be: dice, boil, mash, bake, create a pecan crumble while you’re waiting. I work 14 hours a day and have pretty non-existent cooking skills. That wasn’t gonna work for me.

But what if I could just make baked sweet potato casserole, I thought. It would have all the same flavors — without the work. Perfect. And that’s how these came out. We really liked them, so they’ll be something added to our meals. Plus, who doesn’t want a little bit of Thanksgiving on any random Thursday? You can definitely make these any weeknight — or any night, really.
