When people start couponing, I often get asked, “Where can I get coupons?” To me, it’s common sense to know where they are but I’ve been at this coupon game for over a decade now. So it’s second nature.
If you’re just starting out on your coupon journey, don’t worry. There are a lot of places where you can get coupons — including free coupons too. Just check out our list below for four ways to answer the question of how to get free coupons.
How To Get Free Coupons
Buy The Sunday Newspaper.
Okay, it sounds silly to say free coupons and then tell you to buy something. But you’re buying the paper. The coupons that come inside are free (since it’s technically not legal to actually sell coupons). Not every Sunday paper has coupons. The inserts are often left out of papers on holiday weekends. But don’t worry. Every weekend, we post our Sunday Coupon Preview so we let you know what inserts, if any, are scheduled to be in the Sunday paper. That way, you’ll know if you should be looking for coupons or not.
Look In Stores.
If you’re walking up and down the aisles in your local grocery store (or even gas station!), look around for coupons. Many will have small dispensers (commonly called “blinkies”) or tearpads of coupons that are available to you. I would avoid taking any straight off of products because those are often reserved for when you are buying that exact product. Some people don’t believe in that mentality, though, and will peel them anyway. I actually bought a product the other day where the coupon was peeled off (but the plastic backing remained) and I was a little frustrated.
Write To Companies.
If there’s a brand that you love, send them a note. Compliment them and see if there are any coupons that they are able to send you. Many companies will send you what they have. I know so many people who do this and save a ton this way, so it’s a good way to start out.
Look At Drugstore Divas.
We are always posting printable coupons on the blog. A lot of them are hot coupons, like the Phantom Fireworks – Free $29.99 Firework Item Coupon, and may go quickly. So when you see them posted, be sure to print them as soon as possible. You don’t want to miss out on any savings.
