Looking for a new summer recipe? Check out these grilled turkey burgers with onions. One way to save lots of money this summer is by making your own burgers. I know my family practically lives on grilled food all through July and August. Most of the time, we are grilling burgers. You would think that opening a cardboard box of premade burgers is so much easier than getting out the hamburger press, adding ground meat, and pounding out a burger at a time. I have one of those and it is very time consuming to use. Is the time spent going through all the trouble of making the fresh burgers worth the savings? The burgers do taste a lot better than the ones that come out of the box, though. What would you think if I told you that you could have those delicious, freshly made, less expensive burgers in a matter of minutes?

I am so excited to tell you about the silicone burger press that I just got from Cave Tools. I was able to make six 5 oz. burgers in about two minutes. All I needed to do was take two pounds of ground meat (I used turkey) and spread it into the bottom half of the press, put the top cover on, flatten, take the top off, and that was it. I had six perfectly square burgers. So easy!

A great feature of the press is that you can freeze your burgers in it so if you are not ready to have your burgers, but ground beef was on sale, you can make your burgers in the burger press and put the whole press in your freezer until you are ready to grill. It could be months until you are ready for your burgers, but you don’t have to worry about freezer burn because each square is an individually sealed compartment that prevents freezer burn.

I made turkey burgers and topped each one with a slice of onion and froze them. We just had them tonight at dinner. My husband grilled them and said that he liked the built in dimple in the press. He said it made the burgers stay flat so that they cooked evenly. And my mom must have told me at least three times how much she was enjoying her burger.

Now if that’s not easy enough, let me tell you about the cleanup. The silicone press is dishwasher safe, which even makes the cleanup a breeze!

I am so happy with my new Cave Tools burger press for making and freezing my burgers. The next time I use it, though, will be when I make soup. I’ll use the press to portion and store my leftovers. I hope my mom has the same reaction to her soup as she did with her burger!

Why You Should Request Free Samples Before Summer Vacation #NewDoveDryOil #spon

Why You Should Request Free Samples Before Summer Vacation #NewDoveDryOil #spon

Post sponsored by Lunchbox. Opinions are 100% my own.

Pete’s on Spring Break this week, which means summer is right around the corner. We have a few overnight trips planned for this summer that we’re really looking forward to. Do you have any trips planned? If you do, you should definitely request free samples. It makes traveling so much easier.

Why You Should Request Free Samples Before Summer Vacation

They’re Convenient
It’s so much easier to pack a sample, finish it, and then throw it away before you head home. That way, you’re not lugging a full bottle of shampoo and conditioner on vacation, then dragging an almost-full shampoo and conditioner back home. Same with something like toothpaste, body wash, floss, and anything else you might need for the bathroom.

They Weigh Less
If you’re checking a bag when you’re flying, you have to worry about the weight of it. You only get a certain number of pounds for free. After that, you have to pay an additional fee. How awful would it be if a few ounces of a full-sized body wash was the reason you had to pay more for your carry on? If you pack samples, there’s a much smaller chance of that happening.

You Can Carry Them On A Plane
Post-9/11, you can’t carry liquids over 3.1oz. onto a plane. Cumulative, sure, no problem. But individually, nope. Sample sizes are always smaller, meaning they fall under the 3.1oz limit and you can put them in your carry on. That’s great for people like me who only bring a carry on (because we’re too cheap to pay for checked luggage). After you finish a sample, keep the bottle. You can refill it with other products (in case you can’t find a sample of your favorite mouthwash before your trip) and it will still be within the 3.1oz limit.

You Won’t Feel Bad If You Forget To Pack It To Go Back Home
After I got my belly button pierced, I had to clean it with expensive soap for quite a while. During that time, my family stayed overnight at a hotel, so I packed my full-size bottle of soap. And, in the bustle of leaving the next morning, I forgot it. I was so mad the whole car ride home. If I had a small free sample and left it at the hotel, I wouldn’t have cared. After all, it was free.

Speaking of free samples, you can request a free sample of Dove Dry Oil Body Wash* from Rite Aid. Just click that link, enter your information (including from your wellness+ with Plenti card), and wait for your sample. With your sample, you’ll receive a coupon to save $3.00 on any Dove Personal Wash product (excluding trial and travel sizes). The coupon will be valid through 7/31/16.

Have you tried Dove Dry Oil Body Wash yet? I actually haven’t. And that’s another great think about free samples. You’re able to try out a new product that you haven’t before. The Dove Dry Oil Body Wash infuses your skin with moisturizing Argan Oil so you don’t have to apply lotion after you shower. Plus, I hear th body wash has a rich lather like other Dove products.
