Rite Aid: Weekly Deals [[10/2-10/8]]

This week there are a few good deals at Rite Aid if you have the right coupons and we all do, right? Here are a couple of freebies that are in next week's flyer that I thought you might want a heads up on.

Pert Shampoo is on sale for $3.00 and there are coupons in Sunday's paper for $1.00 off less the $2.00 Up Reward you can get a free bottle of shampoo. There is a limit of one Up Reward per card.

Next, we have Scope Mouthwash that will be free after coupons and Up Reward money. It's $4.00 and there is a coupon for $1.50 off in Sunday's paper, then you get back $2.50 in Up Rewards making your mouthwash free! Limit of one per card.

I don't know if you noticed if this in my In My Mailbox post the other day. So, in case you didn't, I wanted to break it out into its own post.

So, Starbucks decided to mail me a coupon for a free bagel. It says something on the front about New Yorkers knowing about good bagels, and Starbucks is bringing good bagels to New York.

I'm pretty sure I got this from being a part of My Starbucks Rewards. My mom got it too, so it's definitely not one per address.

But, I'm curious, did anyone get this coupon ... anyone outside of New York?

I told you about the almost free Cascade at Target. So of course I had to be a good daughter and pick up a few for my parents.

Tasty Thursday: Deluxe Nacho Extravaganza

We went out to the bar last week to watch football and someone got nachos. They were good, especially compared to the rest of the bar's offerings. The pizza there should not even be called pizza. It should be called excessive cheese on a paper-thin wafer. But, really, that probably wouldn't fit on the menu. Or entice anyone to buy it. But, after the first look at the pie, well, you'd never buy it again.

And the wings, oh gosh, don't even get me started on that.

So, needless to say, I had low expectations for the nachos. They were pretty good but Pete said he could do better. We decided to have Nacho Night, and he was right: He could do better. And he did. Follow this recipe, and you can do better too.

What You'll Need:

• Tortilla Chips [[Utz are on sale for $1.88 at ShopRite this week]]
• Shredded cheddar [[Bordens is on sale for $2.50 a pack at ShopRite this week]]
• Black Olives
• Can of refried beans
• 1 can [[15.5 oz]] of kidney beans
• 1 pound ground meat [[we used pre-packaged turkey, but you can sub in beef or chicken, whatever you prefer]]
• 1 can [[8 oz]] sour cream
• 3 Roma tomatoes
• 3 jalapenos [[2 if you're a wimp]]
• 1 pack of Sazon [[not pictured, sorry about that]]
• 1 small onion, chopped [[that's not pictured either, sorry!]]
• 1 bunch green onions [[they were totally camera shy, not my fault!]]

What You'll Do [[To Serve 6 People]]:

Open Wide!

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
• Get your chopping hands ready. Chop all your veggies [[tomatoes, jalapenos, onion, green onions, olives -- you can buy the olives pre-sliced, but we got them whole because it's about $1 cheaper a can, and we're all about saving money]].
• Brown the meat for about ten minutes.
• Add Sazon [[which is a spice, in case you don't know; it's made by Goya]].
• Add onion. Cook for another five minutes. Set the meat aside.
• Add the refried beans to a pot or a pan [[whatever you have handy]]. Wait until they loosen up and add a handful of shredded cheddar to the mix. Stir until loose. Set aside.
• Line a cookie sheet with foil [[this makes for much easier clean up]]. Drop an entire bag of tortilla chips onto a pan. Evenly distribute meat, refried beans, sour cream, and the remaining bag of cheese on top. Throw this into the oven for about ten minutes, until the cheese is bubbly.
• Remove from oven. Garnish with the jalapenos, tomatoes, olives, kidney beans, and green onions.
• Serve and enjoy.

Wendy's: Money Off Next Time

I was in Wendy's the other day [[the day when I got the free Frosty Halloween books]]. I flipped over the receipt and the back of it had a note.

Well, okay, not a note. Saying note makes it sound like the cashier left me her number or something. Which was totally not the case.

Anyway, what I did find was that if you take the survey on the back and you'll get a code fir $2 off any large sandwich or full-size salad of your choice.

I like the ones at Dunkin Donuts better because they offer you a free donut with a medium drink purchase, but hey, $2 off is good if you want a cheap lunch.

Staples: Free Paper Ream After Rebate

When I used to work in a office setting I did a lot of Staples Rebates to help my boss. He was always grateful for my coupon finding skills that he could give me the rebate checks for a Starbucks or whatever I wanted. I know, I had a good boss.

From today to October 1, 2011 you can score a free paper ream at Staples and with all the coupon alerts we been posting I'm sure you are in need of paper.

When was the last time you took a breather?

When was the last time you got worked up, over stressed, and needed a breather?

Chances are you can't give the same answer to both those questions. You should, but that would be ideal. And that doesn't work out always. You just don't have time to sit down and get some "me time."

Cerra.com, this week's Referral Wednesday, wants to change that. I got a sample pack from Cerra, and it's fantastic.

Let's talk about Cerra for a minute. The site focuses on seven different intentions. There's grounded, creative energy, gratitude, loving kindness, courage, wisdom, and inspiration.

Most of what I got was in the gratitude line. There's a sensory oil, which smells fantastic, tea bags, keepsake notes, and dissolving notes. There was also a green marker [[gratitude is the "green" line -- each is color coded]]. I also got some hand and body lotion from the grounded line.

The keepsake notes are meant for you to write on and keep. They say "Think about something that happened today that makes you feel grateful." And then asks you to write about it. The notes are scented, matching the sensory oil smell.

The dissolving notes are my favorite. You write about how you're feeling, reflect on it, and place the dissolving note in hot water where it, well, dissolves. The notes release the same scent that goes with the gratitude line.

I used this with the Japanese girl living at my house, and it actually worked. It made us really happy. So, actually, it worked. I'm a real big believer in this kind of stuff, so to see it all together in one website, available for the public, I really support that. What I also like is that 5% of the proceeds are donated to causes Cerra believes in.

Plus, it gives you a time to breathe, reflect, and have some me moments. We all need more of that, and if the products on this site help you focus on those, well, you need to snatch up everything they sell.
