CVS: Changes In Expired Policy In New City, NY Store

I know I have some readers who live locally, so this post is definitely for them.

The CVS on Main Street in New City, New York had always taken expired ecb, up to one year from the expiration date.

Not anymore.

My aunt went into the CVS to try to use her expired money, and they told her that she can only use them up to one month expired. The cashier said that there's a new store manager and that's the new policy.

I went into that CVS myself and spoke with one of the seasoned cashiers who confirmed this.

So, just a little heads up in case you're in my area.

Chili's: Kids Eat Free [[Today Only]]

In case you need a reason to visit Chili's today, be sure to take your kids with you. I got a coupon in my email that kids under 12 eat for free with the purchase of an adult entree Tuesday, May 31 only. Seems like Chili's wants to drum up business on Tuesdays since we have seen this deal before!

If you didn't get the email, call your local Chili's to see if they will honor the offer without the coupon. Limit of two free kids meals per table.

Sunday Speak: How Stocked Is Your Walgreens?

I know it's not Sunday, but we didn't have a Sunday Speak this week, so we're having it on Tuesday.

Here's where this comes from: I was emailing with a reader named Geri on Monday, and she was mentioning that the shelves at her Walgreens are never stocked. So, through conversation, I got to wondering: How many other people encounter this problem?

Geri said that it's only through persistence that she can get cashiers to get sale items out of the back. And she said two-day sale items are never stocked at her store -- and the staff tells her that the truck comes in on Tuesday.

How is that helpful?

I've actually noticed this at my stores, which is why I began boycotting Walgreens once upon a time. Shelves were usually clear. Not always, but I had trouble getting what I wanted. And with Register Rewards having a short shelf life, it was frustrating.

CVS is generally well stocked. And if CVS doesn't have a sale item, it's easy to get a rain check [[which never expires]] and the cashiers can manually print your ecb if you buy an item outside of the sale period. Walgreens will write you a rain check that's good for 30 days and cashiers cannot [[at least, in my experience cannot]] force print RR.

Have you experienced empty shelves at your Walgreens? How have you handled it?

Tiny Prints: Five Free Father's Day Cards [[Potentially]]

I just read this over at Common Sense With Money, but I haven't tried it out myself yet, so I can't verify if this works.

She said that Tiny Prints is giving away five free personalized Father's Day cards with the code OKL5CARDSFREE.

I love Tiny Prints cards and have been using them for every holiday since I discovered the site. The cards are always phenomenal, and my recipients have loved them.

I'm running out to a BBQ now so I can't try the code, but if you do, let us know if it works.

Try a frappuccino, if you're not into the frosty beverages that contain beer

My friend Maria let me know that, Starbucks' inside Vons are offering $2 grande frappuccinos until May 30, after 2 pm. But this price is perfect.

This is the last day of the deal, so head over there.

CVS: Good Deal Alert -- Fuze

There are $1/2 coupons. I will buy 6 Fuze for $6, use three of the $1/2 coupons and pay just $3. Then get $2 back in extra bucks. Total will be just $1 for 6! Too bad the limit is only one!

PathMark, A&P: Age Is A Good Thing

My friend Michelle is learning how to coupon. She's really getting her parents into it and helping them save the most money. And she's getting great at it. She texted me to let me know she saved her parents $55 on their food shopping.

And 55, well, that's the magic number of this post. See, Michelle also let me know if you're 55 and over, you get a 5% discount at PathMark on Mondays and a 5% discount at A&P on Tuesdays, as long as you spend over $30.

Not that I want to get old, but if you're already there, you should tweak your grocery shopping schedule accordingly.

Saturday Sample: Colgate Wisps

I'm not a skeptic. I'm quite the opposite, to be honest. I trust everyone, believe most claims that advertisements shout at me, and I pretty much find the silver lining in everything. I'm an eternal ray of optimism.

But when it comes to liking things, there's a lot of things I don't like. New products really have to sell me. I'm not just going to like things for the sake of liking things. And in that sense, I guess I am a skeptic.

So the first time I came across Colgate Wisps, I thought, "No way." There was no way that I would be tucking a mini toothbrush into my purse, let alone ever pulling it out to use it. Funny how things can change. Now, I always have a four pack of Wisps in my purse [[okay, right now I only have two because the other two were used, but that's neither here nor there]]. My mom and grandma, they're also always in arm's reach of the Wisps.

They're incredibly convenient. Leave some at work in case you have tuna for lunch -- and a post-lunch meeting with the boss. Keep them in them in your purse for those "walk of shame" nights [[oh, you know exactly what I'm talking about]]. Have a pack in your car just in case you have to run to the dentist after work. You just brush and go. No water necessary. You brush, swallow, and you're out the door. I wouldn't recommend these to replace your actual toothbrush [[please folks, be responsible: brush twice a day]], but I would recommend these in lieu of your toothbrush at work [[c'mon, you know that looks a little weird when you're washing your hands and the lady at the sink next to you is pulling out a tube of toothpaste]].

What I wasn't sold on was the packaging of the 16-count of Wisps. It was this large box. Okay, let's back track. When you buy a four pack of Wisps, they're in a cute little pocket sized package. When you use two, you can literally pull the package apart, and now it's smaller. With the 16 pack, it was in a rigid package. When you used some, you still had to keep the entire package. So when one was left, you still had an incredible amount of package to house it. It just didn't make sense.

Colgate seems to have finally realized that because now the 16 count comes in plastic pouches. As you use the Wisps, the bag can be squished [[think like potato chip bags]]. Less room means they're less inconvenient. And this makes me very happy.

The Colgate Wisps also come in a new [[at least, new to me]] flavor: Icy bubble. The packaging for that one is really cute and colorful and polka dotted, so combined with the flavor, this is the one kids [[or kids at heart]] will gravitate to.

Let's clear the air for a minute: These are not the most environmentally-friendly toothbrushes. Nothing disposable is. So, of course, a regular toothbrush is better for the Earth. I get that. Shoot, I'm the girl who cuts Post It notes into thirds because I love the Earth. So, yes, I will admit that as far as Earth-friendly goes, these are not. But, as far as convenience goes, you can't beat 'em.

Have you tried these? What do you think?

Full Disclosure: I was given Colgate Wisps for the purpose of this review. No money exchanged hands. All thoughts are my own.

Coupon Alert [[From Vocalpoint]]: Craftsman C3

I'm not gonna lie. This is not the most exciting post you will read today. But, then again, it might be if you're into tools [[which I'm not]].

With Father's Day around the bend, you might be interested in getting something for your dad. Super kind, ya know? So why not get it a bit cheaper.

I just got an email from Vocalpoint letting me know that they're going to send me a $10 coupon for a Craftsman C3 tool.

Now, really, I don't know how much these run or anything, but it's worth checking your Vocalpoint account. Or signing up here if you're not already a member.

Dave & Busters: Free Play In May

Maybe I'm ridiculous, but I like cheap date nights.

On Wednesday, I took advantage of the Restaurant.com deal I posted and got a $25 certificate for $2.

Yesterday, I went out to dinner with my grandma and used a coupon. And after dinner, I ran to Dave & Busters with my free play coupon from my May email.

If you're part of the loyalty program, you get a monthly email. This month's had a $10 free play coupon.

You need to redeem the coupon by May 31. So I took mine, went to the bar, got the $10 put on my power card and left. I'll use the $10 in free play when I'm looking for another cheap date night.

Vons: Cheap Grande Starbucks Frapps

It's the holiday weekend. What better way to celebrate than with a frosty beverage.

Try a frappuccino, if you're not into the frosty beverages that contain beer

My friend Maria let me know that, Starbucks' inside Vons are offering $2 grande frappuccinos from today until May 30, after 2 pm. That's nice because Starbucks is generally overpriced coffee [[well, I usually use free gift cards from Shop It To Me so I don't pay, but still, overpriced for the normal world]]. But this price is perfect.

Don't worry, I'll remind you about this all weekend.

In My Mailbox: Thursday [[05/26]]

Not too much in my mailbox, but I'll take it, that's for sure.

I got ...

I finally found a collectible bill on Swagbucks. In fact, I found it twice in one day.

There are four different values, and you'll get a 20 buck bonus if you find all five by May 27.

There's a 7, 10, 12 and 15. I found the 15 twice tonight. If and when I find the others in searches, I'll post them here so that you can get excited -- and reminded about them.

You can try to win one once a week. Every Thursday, Bacardi will give away t-shirts. I'm not sure of how many, but I am sure that you have to head to Bacardi's Facebook page and "like" them to be eligible.

Come back and let us know if you win one.

allowed.
 When making a return for a product that had a coupon attached, Rite Aid cannot refund cash for the value of the coupon and cannot return the coupon that was used.
