Donation: DiGiorno High 5

My post about donating in January went live a few hours ago, and I realized that if you want to join me in doing one nice thing a month, you're running out time.

But don't worry, I found something.

If you head over to DiGiorno's Facebook page and post the High 5 app on your wall, DiGiorno will donate $5 to Feeding America -- up to $50k. This ends on Sunday, February 6, so get over there and get posting. All you have to do is pick a High 5 and you've got $5 going to a great charity.

While you're on Facebook, head over to our new Facebook fan page and "like" us. For every 500 likes, we'll have a giveaway.

Donation: January

So, here's the deal. I have to do good things this year. My boyfriend decided he wanted to volunteer more and it kicked me into an idea frenzy.

What could I do?

I decided I'd do one really nice thing for a good cause a month. It could be anything that I deem worthy, and since this is a personal thing, what's worthy isn't up for debate.

Today's the last day of January and I'm happy to announce that I've done something for the month.

In the greater New York metro area, we have a program called Midnight Run where items like travel-sized toiletries are distributed to the homeless.

I donated last year to my church before its run, but my church isn't on the schedule. So I found another local parish and I brought a large Old Navy bag filled with my trial-sized items [[like the free Dial from CVS and free Pantene from P&G's sample site]]. My mom gave me her stuff too and we had a nice bag to bring over.

Oh sure, it would be convenient for me to have trial-size toothpaste to bring on vacation, but it's a much more worthy option to donate what I had. I feel good about what I did, and I'll continue to do something every month. Maybe you will too.

Giveaway: Facebook Fans Update

So here's the deal. We have a new Facebook fan page. I've realized it's a million times more effective to have a fan page than a personal page for Drustore Divas.

Trouble is, we look extremely unpopular since the page is [[relatively]] brand new.

So, we decided that for every 500 fans we get on our Facebook fan page, we'll have a giveaway. We have some really great giveaways in the works, but we're still not at 500.

I figured it would be best to keep posting updates on how we're doing so everyone knows just how close we are to a giveaway. Right now, we have 411 fans, so we're only 89 away from a great giveaway. Start "liking" us today.

Subway: Free Coffee Mondays

Coffee can get expensive. Personally, I drink my tea when I get to work [[because it's free]], but I know there are a bunch of you grab and goers who head out to pick up a cup o' joe every morning.

That adds up.

Subway wants to help you combat that.

Every Monday in January, you can get a free 12 oz. cup of coffee before 11 am at Subway.

No purchase is necessary.

I'm on the email list for the New York Metro Tri State area, so I'm not sure if this is all Subway restaurants, so you might wanna call ahead.

We'll remind you every Monday this month so you can get a free start to the work week.

Diva Dialogue: Did you pick some up this morning?

Banana Republic: Happy Monday

Everyone is grumbling over going back to work today, but Banana Republic wants to make that a little easier for you.

Every Monday in January, Banana Republic's promo is a litle surprise. Although no mention of what it is.

Kroger, Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop: Good Deal Alert -- Honest Tea

Honestly, this is a good deal.

If you head over to this link, you can print out a coupon for $.50/1 off a bottle of Honest Tea.

I checked these out at Stop & Shop and they're $1.25 regular price, so a quarter after coupon.

Also, they're on sale for $1 this week at Giant Eagle [[ending 02/02]], according to Denise from Coupons for Your Family, so free after doubling.

And, I got an email from Heather at Frugal Reality Kroger has Honest Tea on sale for $.75 this week [[ending 02/01]]. After the coupon is doubled, it's free. Heather thinks this sale may be going on next week as well.

Diva Dialogue: Have you seen this for free [[or close to it]] at your stores?

Sunday Coupon Preview [[01/30/2011]]

This is the first Sunday in quite a while that I'm not away on vacation. So I'll definitely get my papers -- especially since Sunday Coupon Preview says they'll be excellent.

There should be two Red Plums, a Smart Source, and a P&G in this week's paper. Sounds like a good week to buy the paper.

Diva Dialogue: How many papers are you planning on picking up?

PF Chang's: Happy Hour

Sometimes, I don't know things. I'm just oblivious a lot, but other times, I just don't get places so I don't know what goes on there.

And maybe you're like me too.

So, in case you are, I figured I'd give this sorta PSA since it's news to me. What is, you ask. Well, I got this email from PF Chang's letting me know the restaurant has a Happy Hour from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Now, really, that doesn't fit into my work schedule, but maybe it does for some of you. So I figured you might want to know about it.

Diva Dialogue: I've never eaten here. Have you?

Stop & Shop: I Went Shopping

I'm not going to pretend that this trip is even remotely exciting but I had to stop by Stop & Shop to pick up lotto tickets. I decided to walk through the store to see if there was anything intereting as far as coupons go.

I was on a hunt when I found Hillshire Farm pastrami with a $1 off coupon because it was expiring the next day. The cold cuts were $2 regular price so the manager's special coupon made them $1.

Boring to me but exciting to my mom.

Coupon Alert: Special K

Everyone was super excited about the Special K deal at Rite Aid a few weeks ago. Now truth be told I think people were more excited over the fact that the deal was a money maker than about the Special K.

But if you were excited about the cereal itself, you might be excited to know about a tearpad coupon I found.

The coupon in the picture is $1 off two packages of Special K cereal bars, six count or larger. The coupon is good until March 21, so you've got time to find the coupon and find a deal.

Pampers: Gifts to Grow [[42 Point Code]]

I just saw on Frugal Reality that Heather posted a new Pampers Gifts to Grow code for us. Log into your account and enter the code VMF776C7HMXXT4A for 42 points.

I have over 1000 points -- all from free codes. So you should definitely be entering all these free codes. They add up.

Diva Dialogue: Do you enter the free codes?

Victoria's Secret: Semi-Annoying

We talked about Victoria's Secret's semi-annual sale and I told you that I always wait til the sale is officially over so I can get the additional 50% off.

I stopped in my local Vicky's on Friday because I got an email that the sale is over online. Well, to my dismay, the sale is still going strong in the brick and mortar stores. Panties are $2.99 and bras are $14.99. Which isn't bad, I guess. But of course, since I wasn't shopping clearance [[since there was none to shop]], I took a look at full price stuff. I found two bras I liked -- one was $48 and one was $54.

Who is their right mind pays $54 for a bra?

So I walked out of Victoria's Secret, drove to the mall, and bought a bra using my free $10 to Aerie. Much better deal.

Diva Dialogue: Is your Vicky's semi-annual sale over with yet?

Vocalpoint: Check Your Mail

I used to post Mail Call Monday posts and then I got away from them. I just realized that I stopped posting them the last Monday in September, although I would have bet money that I did them longer than that.

I did get a great coupon in the mail, and I had to tell you about it, Mail Call Monday post or not.

Vocalpoint sent me a $10 off $50 coupon for Lowe's [[the hardware store, not the movie theater]]. There were also a ton of product coupons inside. So, if you're a Vocalpoint member, you might wannna keep your eyes on the mailbox.

Diva Dialogue: Do you miss the Mail Call Monday posts?

Giveaway: Facebook Fans Update

So here's the deal. We have a new Facebook fan page. I've realized it's a million times more effective to have a fan page than a personal page for Drustore Divas.

Trouble is, we look extremely unpopular since the page is brand new.

Right now, we have 346 fans. We're not exactly winning the Prom Queen title with those numbers.

So, we decided that for every 500 fans we get on our Facebook fan page, we'll have a giveaway. We have some really great giveaways in the works, but we're still a bit over 150 fans away from our first Facebook Fans giveaway, so like us and get your friends to like us -- and we'll have a giveaway.

Aerie: Check Your Messages

I get a ton of semi-spam mail from American Eagle and Aerie. It's always dull and boring and I can't ever share it with you, my dear readers, because every code appears unique.

So I unsubscribed to American Eagle's emails but I kept Aerie's because I'm always hoping the free gift will come back.

It hasn't, exactly, but I did get a great email with a $10 off anything coupon, good through Sunday [[January 30]]. So, if you overlook your Aerie emails because they tend to be garbage, check your trash box or your spam folder and see if you've got this one lying around still.

If you don't have the coupon, don't worry. You can save 30% off clearance at Aerie's website with the code 53467511. Plus you'll get 3% back if you shop through eBates.

Diva Dialogue: Did you get this email?

Bath & Body Works: I Went Shopping

This is an awful photo, but it's the thought that counts sometimes, right?

And this time, I thought you might like see that I did go to Bath & Body Works on my lunch yesterday to get the free candle I told you about.

Now, I know I said I would get the pink one, but the grapefruit scent was so strong, I opted for the white [[which smells like a pina colata]].

I got ...
1 Slatkin & Co Candle

I used ...
this coupon [[good til Sunday, January 30]]

And my candle was free.

My Starbucks Rewards: Now Use Paypal

I just got an email from Starbucks that I found interesting, so I figured I'd share with you all.

I told you recently about My Starbucks Rewards [[Starbuck's loyalty program]]. You register here, add a gift card [[optional]], and get a free drink on your birthday.

Now, in order for the rewards program to get even better, it makes sense to keep paying with the same gift card. Well, the exciting email says that now you can recharge your gift cards via Paypal.

Oh that makes things so much easier.

Diva Dialogue: Have you signed up for My Starbucks Rewards?

Saturday Sample: Duracell myGrid Charging Pad

Somehow, I fried my cell phone charger. I don't know how, but I did.

A few years back, I fried my charger -- mostly because the end of it fell into a cup of juice. Chargers don't generally bounce back from that.

This one, though, has been completely liquid free. But still, I plugged my phone in at work one day and it wouldn't charge. I don't know if I pulled it out of the outlet too hard one time and pulled a wire or what.

I didn't fret because I had a similar charger at home, so I started to use it and it worked fine. Until the other week when it has been getting super fussy. It'll charge, but if you move the phone, nope, done charging.

If you're like me and your phone is attached to your hand at all times, then you understand how not having a charger is not an option. And it seems that chargers with wires are not my thing. Thank goodness for the Duracell myGrid. It's like someone has been peeping in my window for years, saw what was happening with my chargers, and eliminated the issue.

The Duracell myGrid is this metalic pad that plugs into a wall outlet. Then, you take these small adapters, plug them into your phone, and place the phone on the pad. Then, like magic, the phone charges.

Ah yes, I'm sure there's some techy way to explain all that to you, but I'm no electronics nerd. I don't know the tech-savvy words, I just know that my phone charges. And I also know that you can charge up to four devices at a time -- and none have wires that go directly into the walls. You can charge phones, your mp3 player, and more, all at one time.

This is perfect for couples who are running out of outlets because they have so many devices, people who have a phone for work and another for personal use, or someone who has a habit of losing their chargers. I'm so incredibly in love with the myGrid, you don't even know. You need this. But you can't have mine. You have to get your own.

Diva Dialogue: Have you tried this?

Full disclosure: I was given a Duracell myGrid to try for the purpose of this review. No money was exchanged for this review and all opinions are my own.

CVS: I Went Shopping

I stopped into CVS and I scanned my card. That's when the magical $5/2 Revlon CRT printed. I didn't have any Revlon coupons with me, but I've seemed to turn into a goth chick since October because I've been living in black polish and shadow. So I had to make a deal. Plus, while I was walking around the store, I found one lone Revlon tearpad coupon. So I had to make something happen. The Revlon gods were telling me so.

I got ...

$5.49 -- Revlon eye shadow

Coupon Alert: Revlon

I was walking through CVS with the boyfriend and my hands were full because there weren't any baskets around so I opted to carry my stuff. Of course, with full hands, I found a Revlon tearpad.

The coupons were for $1/1 and expire March 15, 2011, so of course I wanted one.

My boyfriend so graciously asked if I wanted one. Yes, I told him. So he pulled off one. We stood there. "Do you want another?" he asked. "Yeah, that would be great," I said, and he pulled off one more.

We walked away and I said, "I usually take three."

If you happen to see these in your stores, they'll be great for the Revlon sale this week. It's buy $10, get $4 back. And I got a $5/2 CRT. So if you get those -- and find the tearpads -- you can make a great deal.

Bath & Body Works: Free Candle [[This Weekend Only]]

I remember a few years back, I got a bunch of free candles from Walgreens. I would light them in my apartment when I was alone and I remember telling my friend that I felt like I was seducing myself.

Eh, there could be worse things in life than that.

Since then, though, I’ve had a very healthy relationship with candles. I love them and light them often. Which can get pricy.

Thank goodness for free candles. According to Bath & Body Works’ Facebook, if you head over to this link you can print a coupon for a free 1.6 oz candle in either Island Colada or Pink Sangria.

Personally, I’m leaving towards Pink Sangria since, well, it’s pink.

The coupon is good today through Sunday [[January 30]], so you better hurry up and get yours.

And, speaking of Facebook, head over to this link and "like" us at our new Facebook fan page. For every 500 fans, we’ll have a giveaway.

Guest Post: How To Save Money At Disneyland

It's getting close to mid-winter recess and Spring Break, so this guest post from Sara at Budget Savvy Diva comes at the perfect time. Read below to find out how you can save at Disney.

So you want to go to Disneyland – the happiest place on earth but you do not want to pay a FORTUNE. Well Budget Savvy Diva – who worked 3 years at the resort and attended the parks over 100 times – the low down on HOW you can save money.

Deciding When To Go:

Though the price of ticket does not change – except for the slight yearly increase – which affects both Disneyworld and Disneyland at the same time, the amount of enjoyment will vary on how many people are attending the parks the time you are going. When I taught new hires at Disneyland I told them of a study where it was determined that the average number of attractions that a guest will enjoy in a day is 10. This means that it is slightly less then $10.00 per attraction if you divide by the ticket price.

The best days to go is Tuesday or Wednesday by far. The worst is Sunday – try and avoid Sunday – due to the amount of annual passholders who live around Disneyland – Sundays even on off-season is VERY heavy.

Best time of the year is Sept – Nov and Feb – May. Please note that Spring Break is SUPER BUSY – I remember many times that both California Adventure and Disneyland being sold out during those few weeks.

Because Disneyland sits on a mere 40 acres when it is busy you really feel it. There are some sections such as Adventureland that seem to always feel packed even on a light day. When the amount of people reach a certain level Disneyland enforces traffic flows using guest control which means a lot more walking for you to get where you need to go.

Resort Tickets

This is one of the more important tips to help you save money. It is much better to buy your tickets separately, outside of a package. The Disney packages do make things much more convenient, but the cost is a great deal higher

Parking:

Try and carpool because parking is at a new high of 15.00 per car – there is not many other options BUT if you want to know Budget Savvy Diva’s trick is parking at Downtown Disney which gives you three hours for free – and moving the car and re-parking. It takes about 20 minutes to do – I know this might not be a possibility for you. Again I am extremely frugal and try and cut as many costs as I can.

Food:

First off – Have a Large Breakfast – common sense I know. But there have been times I have been SO excited to go to Disneyland that I plum forgot breakfast. Food like the prices seem to rise in cost every year. To give you a reference whole fruit ( banana, apple or orange is 1.79).

Bring your own food: Disney has no problem you bring food into the park – just nothing in glass. Try and bring at least two snacks for every person in your party. Trail mix is great to munch on. Do not bring anything that can cause havoc in your bag such as a juice box – it might become an empty juice box when you get off of space mountain

HUGE Budget Savvy Diva tip: If you are in California Adventure make sure to head over to Mission Tortilla factory where you will see a cute 2 minute video on the history of the tortilla AND you receive a FREE tortilla freshly made before your eyes – each person in your family gets one. Boy Howdy are they yummy. PLUS if it is your birthday – you can get a free birthday button at city hall and at guest relations in California Adventure – you get a FREE bag of tortilla ( 10 to be exact) – how COOL is that. They are pretty filling and are a perfect snack.
Knowing where to eat in the park is important to. There was a general consenes between us castmembers about where to eat in the park and where not to eat.

Let’s get where NOT to eat:- Tomorrowland Terrace – The food at best is average. It is your normal burgers and sandwichs. But the prices are pretty high – no entree under $8. I do not want to be mean or anything but I would rather walk across the park then eat anything from there.

- Village Haus Restaurant – Again greyish burgers and greasy fries. It is located in Fantasyland and gets full pretty quickly.

Where to Eat:

- Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port – Located in Tomorrowland is AWESOME with a capital A. The pizza is not that out of price and the slices are HUGE – this restaurant always has a lot of traffic but also has a lot of space and indoor and outdoor seating – because of the heavy business there is always fresh pizza being served. PLUS you can buy a whole pizza pie perfect for a larger number parties. The pasta I hear is amazing – the Chicken with Alfredo Pasta is always a hit. There was a time when the cafes for cast members would periodically serve the Chicken Alfredo and you thought it was pizza day at school by how excited cast members were about it. Also the salads are made fresh right in front of you – always a plus. There is a soda fountain where you serve yourself so you can control the amount of ice you get. The soda is already chilled so you really do not need that much ice.

- Rancho Del Zocalo – Located near Thunder Mountain – you can actually see the attraction as you eat. Hand-downs this is where I eat every time. I L.O.V.E this restaurant – I find the food to be quiet good and the prices to be fair. Most plates are around 12.00 ish dollars – my husband and I always share a plate. . Entrees include citrus fire-grilled chicken, 4 cheese enchiladas, soft tacos, burritos and even a tostada salad. The salads are made to your liking right before your eyes – again a plus. I have a gluten allergy and they were very quick to get a chef who personalized the meal to fit our needs free of charge. The outdoor eating is beautiful – we sometimes go there just to take a break and watch people ride thunder mountain.

Dole Whips – If you have not had a dole whip then you NEED to get one – you will thank me. Words cannot describe how awesome it is. The dole whip cart is located next to the original Tiki Room in Adventureland. Dole whips are pineapple flavored – but it is not exactly ice cream nor yogurt – it is very airy soft serve. Unlike other food products that have rose in price at Disneyland during the years – dole whips have not. Dole whip cost 2.79 and boy to the pile it high. My husband and I love to get a dole whip and watch the Enchanted Tiki Room.
Though there are other amazing restaurants at Disneyland – these are the one’s I feel you get the most bang for your buck.

Other tips:- Bring in your own water bottles – you can always fill them up at the many water fountains.
- Also did you know that you can get free water from any service counter – that is right – save over 2.70 every time you ask for a cup of water.

Bring extras: Suntan lotion, digital cards or film for your camera, baby wipes, ponchos, anything and everything you can think of that you might need at the park. They are all available inside for purchase but you will again pay a premium. Instead, once inside the park, rent a locker for just a few bucks and place those items inside. Then when you need them they’ll be waiting for you. Another biggie is a stroller. If your child is still in a stroller, bring yours. The strollers for rent start at $10 per day.

Bath & Body Works: I Went Shopping

I was in the mall this weekend, and I took a quick stop into Bath & Body Works to pick up the free lotion I mentioned the other day.

Well, to my happy surprise, I found the hand sanitizer I was looking for -- and it was 38 cents.

Oh happy day.

I got ...
Free -- Carried Away lotion
$.38 -- Hand Sanitizer
$.38 -- Hand Sanitizer [[yes, I needed two -- they're adorable!]]

So, I "spent" 80 cents total after tax [[well, it was on a gift card I got for returning an unwanted gift]].
