Yoooooo Hoo

The problem with having a planned trip is when something is out of stock, you have to figure out what to substitute in. Point in case: this week at Rite Aid. Skintimate shave gel was nowhere to be found, so, in order to get my total up to use my $25 coupon, I had to buy some Yoo Hoo. Not that I mind chocolate milk, but it did nothing for my SCR. The eye drops, also nowhere to be found.

So, I bought:
$2.97 -- Three Yoo Hoo three-packs
$6.99 -- Salt Air Nasal Spray [[$1 printable]]
$5 -- Flex-Tastic [[$1 printable]]
$5 -- Triad Orthotic foot pads [[for my grandma]] [[$1 printable]]
$5 -- Synovium [[for my grandma dukes, again]] [[$2 peelie]]

Total before coupons: $24.96 [[I only noticed now, while I was typing this up, that I was a few cents short, but I guess tax counted on my $5/$25]]

Total after coupons: $14.96 [[a little over $16 with tax]]

I'm getting back $6.99 for the Salt Air and $10 for the foot stuff. And since I really wanted to try the Flex-Tastic, I'm happy with that.

Hooked On CVS

If there's one thing I learned at CVS this week, it's that creativity pays -- literally. Case in point, the Roc deal I posted earlier this week. But if face wash isn't really your thing, then there's still another way you can earn some completely free ECBs. Yes, free, that magic word that catches everyone's attention.

This week at CVS, buying $15 worth of Scotch 3M products will earn you a $5 ECB. This includes the Command adhesive hooks, which are currently on sale for 2/$5. At most stores the shelf stickers only advertise this price on the plastic hooks, but it works on the metal hooks too [[yes, even the big metal hooks that are marked $6.99 are included in the 2/$5]]. This is a beautiful thing because this link will take you to none other than a $2.50 off Command metal hooks coupon, making these little suckers completely free. What makes this deal so sweet is that by taking home six of these freebies you will also earn yourself a $5 ECB with no out of pocket expense.

What are you still doing here? Go before they run out!

You're Such A Ham

Unilever put a rebate form in its coupons on April 5 for a free ham or turkey, up to $20. All you had to do was buy $40 worth of Unilever products.

The small thing: The receipts have to be dated between April 5 and today, April 30. It can be on multiple trips and whatnot, but today's the last day to shop. And the form has to be postmarked by May 7.

So, go through your old receipts, see what you totaled, and buy the biggest ham or turkey you can. Well, closest to $20. After that, you're on your own.

Weis Weekly

Weis has lots of great deals this week [[April 30 to May 6 -- Weis sales always run from Thursday to Wednesday]]. Many items are on sale 10 for $10 and there are coupons for many of them.

Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers are $1 each. There are coupons for $1 off and $.50 off so if your store doubles, they are free after coupons! These are so good.

All items are included in the 10 for $10:
Chef Boyardee
2-liter Pepsi Products
Gatorade
San Giorgio Pasta
Ken's salad dressing
Swanson Classic Dinners
Kraft Macaroni and Cheese
Ronzoni Healthy Pasta
Betty Crocker Brownie Mixes
Puffs Tissues
Furmano Canned Tomatoes

In order to eat healthier, be sure to get the fruits and vegetables included in the 10 for $10 like Blackberries, Red Globe Seeded Grapes, Garlic Sleeves, Seedless Cucumbers, Tropical Mangoes, Fresh Green Beans, Yellow Squash, Green Zucchini, and Red Bell Peppers.

There is a $.35 coupon for Totino's Pizza Rolls so if your store doubles, a box will only be 30cents. Kraft Cheese Cubes, Shreds, or Crumbles are 2 for $4. Check out our coupon database before making your list.

[[Lisa's note: While we're on the topic, during 10 for $10 sales, you don't HAVE to buy 10 to get the sale. If you only want one Green Giant Steamer, you only have to buy one and it'll ring up for a dollar. Also, if a sale is 4/$5, if you buy one, it'll ring up $1.25. You don't have to buy five, but if you do, the store sells more, so that's why they advertise like they do. But, if you're not having a birthday party for an army and you don't need ten boxes of brownie mix, just buy one and call it a day]]

Say What You Need To Say

There's a chance that, for the rest of her life, your mom is going to treasure the Mother's Day card you get her. There's also a chance that once the holiday is over, she's dumping it in the garbage.

Since you don't wanna throw any money in the trash -- and since 99 cent cards for Mom are out of the question -- head over to Hallmark's site. Design a card for mom, enter CARD4MOM at checkout, and you'll get a card for free. Hallmark will even send it for you.

I mailed one to Beth last time Hallmark had free cards, and it was awesome [[although I didn't see it on display when I was over that way last weekend. Hmm ... ]]. I also sent one to my grandma, who loved it. If you're looking to send two cards, you can also use the code APRILCARD to send one for free. But you better hurry. That code seems like it'll probably expire soon.

Tea For You

The problem I have with Arby's is that it's expensive [[ask Beth about her problem with Arby's. It's much funnier and isn't resolved as easily as mine]].

When Arby's decides to give me some things for free, my problem is fixed because the more items you get for the same amount of money, the better.

Between right now and May 5, with the purchase of any sandwich, you can get a free Iced Fruitea with this coupon. It comes in Passion Fruit, Mandarin Peach, Diet Peach, and Diet Blackberry. There's no scientific proof that the first one will get you any closer to the ladies, but for free, you might as well try it out.

I Scream, You Scream ...

We all scream for FREE ice cream? [[I'm not so witty as the others, but I try]].

Carvel Ice Cream is giving away a free Iceberg -- your choice of soda, blended with ice and vanilla flavoring, topped with a scoop of soft serve ice cream -- today, Thursday, April 30th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. to celebrate Carvel's 75th anniversary.

Not all locations are participating so hopefully your local Carvel is a participating location!

Free Cleaning

A big thank you goes out from us at Drugstore Divas to Cindy from Living Rich with Coupons. And, if you have a ShopRite in your area, you should be thanking her too.

At ShopRite, many Lysol products are on sale for $1.88. This week, there were a ton of Lysol coupons from the paper. Wanna know what they were? You've gotta check out our coupon database for that.

Here's Cindy's scenario [[with little asterisks inserted by yours truly]]:
1 Lysol All Purpose Pourable Cleaner = $1.88 -$.75/1 4/26 SS insert (doubled)*
1 Lysol All Purpose Trigger Cleaner = $1.88 - $.75/1 4/26 SS insert (doubled)
1 Antibacterial Kitchen Cleaner Trigger = $1.88 - $.75/1 4/26 SS insert (doubled)*

Total after coupons: $1.14 for all three

Then submit the rebate form to Lysol and receive $3 from making this a moneymaker of $1.86.
The rebate she's talking about is one we talked about not too long ago. If you didn't stock up on cleaners at CVS last month, you can still do it.

The asterisks are there because of this: The coupons in my paper [[and presumably yours too]] may have been 50 cents off the pourable cleaner and the trigger. If that's the case, you're looking at a total of $2.14 instead of $1.14. But hey, 02/14 is Valentine's Day, and you can [[almost]] never go wrong with love.

Million Dollar Event

We finally broke down and bought a new TV for the bedroom. I went with a Vizio 1080 LCD 32-inch flat screen. I got it at Sam's Club for a really good deal. I checked everywhere and that was the best value. Well, I am not disappointed at all. The TV is amazing and the HD channels are insane they are so clear.

Tv is not my only hobby; I am a huge sport fan. I listen to ESPN in my car all the time. No music for me. I was listening to the Colin Cowherd show today and he is a spokesperson for Vizio.

Okay if you are still reading, thanks. And there is something in this for you. I am not just doing a meet and greet with our readers. Vizio is having a million dollar TV giveaway. The TV you can win is a 55-inch LCD HD TV. I am sure it is amazing! The sweepstakes runs until August 31,2009. Enter online here to win. Winners are announced weekly. Good luck.

Referral Wednesday: Shop It To Me

There are times when we all want a personal shopper. We want someone to tell us what's on sale, where we can get it, the end.

Enter today's Referral Wednesday: Shop It To Me.

The site [[which you should email me about so I get referral credit because that would be nice]] tailors to your needs. You choose the designers you wanna keep track of, your sizes, etc. And when there's a sale, you'll get an email all about it. It's totally like a sample sale, just without the high heel race.

Trust me, you'll love it.

Not Just A Kids Game

When Mallory gets out of work, she's gonna tell you a story about how she luckily fell into free lunch from Panera. It's a great story, actually.

But, since we all don't have Mallory's luck, charm, and wardrobe, we'll have to settle for free lunch at Domino's Pizza.

Today, April 29, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., stop into any participating Domino's, and you'll get a free BreadBowl Pasta. You won't get free seating. For whatever reason, this is carry out only, so you probably wanna clear out a spot in your car to place this baby when you're racing back to the office.

You Scream, I Scream

Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. If you didn't know that from its clever logo, well, I can't help you.

If you do know that -- or just put two and two together -- you'll understand 31 cent scoop night. Tonight, from 5 to 10 p.m., you can get a scoop of delicious ice cream [[may I recommend Rocky Road, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Mint Chocolate Chip]] for a quarter, a nickle, and a penny. The proceeds go towards a donation for the National Volunteer Fire Council's National Junior Firefighter Program.

Stop by your local store, get some cheap ice cream, and help out a great cause.

Swine Flu-Free

White Castle has a new pulled pork slider, and, although everyone's worried about the swine flu, you can't get it from eating pork, if the pork's handled correctly.

But, if you're worried, you can wait until June 30 to have your pulled pork slider at White Castle. This coupon for a free slider is good until then.

Although I'm convinced White Castle is great, no one is gonna make a better pulled pork sandwich than the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Grill, so people should stop trying.

Miles Of Flying

I used to fly quite a bit. Between June 2007 and January 2008, I flew on four separate occasions [[or I guess eight, if you count that once I flew out, I always flew back ... albeit unfortunately]]. I mostly flew Northwest, even though the airline reroutes everything through Detroit -- and there's always a delay there.

I started racking up a ton of miles with Northwest, and now that its merging with Delta, well, I wasn't sure what would happen to my miles.

Luckily for me, it means I'm getting more.

Between now and April 30, if you link your Delta and Northwest frequent flier miles accounts, you'll get 500 bonus miles. Don't have an account? Don't worry. You can sign up for an account now, merge them, and still get the miles. My Delta account expired, apparently, so I just made a new one, got my miles, and soon I'll be on my merry way [[flying somewhere fun for free]].

Ban Together Against Smell

If you've taken a look at my and Beth's Kmart trips, you may have noticed the excessive amount of Ban deodorant we've accumulated. If you want some, send me an email. It could be for sale.

But, if you don't wanna shop at my stockpile store -- and if you didn't get to Kmart doubles -- then check out Rite Aid. If you buy five deodorants, you'll get $10 in a SCR. If you check over at our coupon database, you'll find a few Ban coupons. Combine that with the sale and you'll smell nice ... for cheap. Not too shabby considering it's getting warm out, and, well, deodorant is a must.

And The Winner Is ...

As you may have heard, I got violently ill this weekend, pretty much the worst sick I've ever gotten in my life. The moral of the story is don't ever get strep, a stomach virus, and a fever all at once. And, if you do, don't eat hot dogs anywhere around the time you might re-taste them coming up.

But, moving right along from that graphically gross picture, it took me a couple days to use random.org to select a winner in our S.H.O.P. totes giveaway with Calypso Studios. The winner is Sasha222. Yay! Sasha, you didn't leave your email address, so we can't email you to say you've won. So, if you could send me an email at drugstoredivalisa(at)gmail.com with you're mailing address, I'll pass that on to Calypso Studios, and you'll get your prize of the Flower Power bags.

Thanks to everyone for entering.

Dots Deals

Dots Clothing Stores wants to know more about you. And if you are willing to give up the info, they are giving you a $10 off $10 in-store or online purchase. Click here to take the survey. The coupon is valid until May 11, 2009.

I am thinking you can get something for free with that without spending any actual money. No Dots near you? That's okay, I have one so you can always send the coupon my way.

Bayer Makes Lisa Better

Our friend Lisa is very sickly. We all wish her well and hope she gets better soon. But really she is in luck this week [[4-26 to 5-1]]. Walgreens has lots of great RR deals but somehow I missed one.

Bayer Quick Release Crystals are on sale for $2.49 and they are giving $2.49 back in RR. My one complaint about these is that there are four packets in a box that can fit at least twelve packets. Come on Bayer, help save the Earth. But that is another issue. So how does any of this help Lisa you ask? Well, I will go there tomorrow and pick some up for her and send them out to her so she can feel better.

Target Coupons

Time for new Target coupons once again. You can print these online or print them out when you get to the store. These are great because you can combine them with a manufacturer's coupon to get an even better deal! Check out our coupon database to see what manufacturer's coupons are out there.

CVS Moneymakers Roc

God, I love bad puns :)

Since Lisa mentioned my love of CVS in her introduction, I decided I should clue you all in on my most recent CVS moneymaker. I had to use two separate computers to do this since I could only get four coupons per IP address, but if you have access to more than one computer you should be set. If not, you could always ask a friend to help you out, or print them out at your local library.

If you have your CVS flier handy, flip to page 12 and you'll notice that this week buying $30 worth of ROC Skincare Products entitles you to $10 in ECBs. To an ordinary person this would mean you could $30 worth of products for essentially $20. But we're no ordinary people, folks -- and I would never suggest you settle for spending $20 on skincare products.

So instead here's what I want you to do:

First, using this link, print out eight coupons for $3 off any ROC Skincare Product. Conveniently, ROC Age Diminishing Facial Cleanser, regularly $7.99 a bottle, is on sale this week for only $3.99 a bottle. You're going to buy eight of these using your $3 coupons, meaning that in reality each of these bottles will cost you a mere 99 cents!

Since ECB deals are calculated pre-coupon, eight 8 of these will give you credit for $31.92 in ROC products -- just enough to qualify you for the ECB deal. So go buy your eight bottles, spend $7.92 and get back $10.00 in ECB. That's a $2.08 moneymaker <3

Home Made Simpler

Good evening blogosphere!

I want to start off by saying that I am SO excited to be here. I want to say thank you to Lisa for a great introduction and to the rest of you for your sweet comments. I can't wait to get started and these ladies have set the bar pretty high so I'll have to work extra hard to keep up :)

Now onto the real reason for this post:

If there's one thing you need to do today ... it's go to this link.

The reason? Home Made Simple has released another booklet of coupons totaling $30 in savings on brands like Swiffer, Cascade, and Febreeze.

I received mine in the mail this weekend and typed up a list of the coupons just for you:

$5 off one Swiffer Sweeper Vac Starter Kit
$2 off one Swiffer Sweeper Starter Kit
$1 off one Swiffer Dusters Starter Kit or Refill
$1 off one Swiffer Dust & Shine Furniture Spray
$5 off one Swiffer Wet Jet Starter Kit
$.50 off one Swiffer Wet Jet Refill
$.50 off one Febreze Air Effects
$1 off one Febreze Noticeables Starter Kit, Dual Refill Pack, or 2 Single Refills
$1 off one Febreze Candle
$.50 off one Febreze Fabric Refresher
$1 off one Dawn Simple Pleasures
$1.50 off one Dawn Direct Foam Pump
$2 off one Dawn Direct Foam Refill
$1 off any one size Dawn Plus Hand Renewal
$.50 off any one size Dawn
$1 off one Cascade Actionpacs or Gel
$.50 off one Cascade Complete All-In-One Actionpacs
FREE 8.75 oz Cascade Crystal Clear Rinse Agent
$.75 off any one size Mr. Clean Multi-Surfaces Liquid
$.75 off one Mr. Clean Multi-Surfaces Spray
$.75 off any one size Mr. Clean Disinfecting Wipes
$.75 off one Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

At the very least you'll end up with a free bottle of Cascade Crystal Clear just for typing in your address ... and if you don't need it, you can use it to start a goodie basket for your mom. Mother's Day is right around the corner!

Speaking of which, I have been collecting "frugal friendly" Mother's Day gift ideas. I will get some of those posted for you over the next couple days.

<3

Hair-Free Summers

Here's the problem with sales. You buy something, fall in love with it, and by the time you really start to like it, it's not on sale anymore, and you're stuck paying retail.

That could possibly happen with the Skintimate shave gel ... but not yet.

This week, it's on sale for $2.99 at Rite Aid [[I know; I can't remember the last Rite Aid deal we posted either]]. There was a $.75 coupon in Sunday's paper, making it $2.24. And since Rite Aid loves ya, you can get $2.25 SCR if you buy it this week, so yup, it's free.

Now you can have date ready legs at a moment's notice.

Walgreens Photo Deals

Seems like Walgreens really wants your photo business. Just in time for Mother's Day, Walgreens is offering 25% off photo gifts. Use the code HAPPYMOM online now through May 2.

As if that was not enough, you can also get fifty 4x6 prints for only $5. FIFTYPIC is the code for that one and that is also good until May 2. Don't forget you can order online and save on shipping by picking up the pictures at your local store. Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10th this year. That gives you plenty of time to snap a few pics and get Mom a great gift.

Kentucky Grilled Chicken

Kentucky Fried Chicken and I have to chat. As much as I love healthy options, the word "fried" is in the company's name. Selling grilled chicken is like ... well, I don't know. I wanted to say like Levi's jeans selling tops, which they do; or Panera Bread not selling bread, which works; and egg nog doesn't taste like eggs, so harboring hard feelings against KFC for going grilled isn't worth it.

But, in case you're not sold, KFC is giving out free chicken today, April 27, so you can tried the "unfried" variety and decide if healthy is the way for you to go.

I like KFC, I like chicken, and I like the Colonel, so I'll be there.

Cheaper Secrets

Victoria's Secret is really good about giving us freebies, which is why I kinda feel obligated to post about the store even when things aren't free. It's only fair.

Now through May 10, you can print out a coupon for 20% in any Victoria's Secret store.

It's not free, but if there's been something you've been eying each time you walked in to get some freebies, here's your chance to get it.

Shampoo Samples

Aveeno came out with a shampoo and conditioner line, and since I love all things Aveeno, I was kind of salivating over the bottles the other day when I was in CVS.

I didn't buy any because I need a sale [[$7 on one bottle just isn't in my budget]]. But CVS is calling me because it's offering a sample of Aveeno's hair care products.

I know what you're thinking because I was thinking the same thing too: When did CVS start offering samples? The truth is, I don't know. But, it doesn't matter, because now you know about them.

Breaking Displays

Gather 'round oh faithful blog readers. It's story time.

What you're going to learn [[if you haven't already]] in this journey o' coupons is that if you see a tearpad, you're gonna wanna take a coupon. You might not know of an upcoming sale, but having a coupon "just in case" is gonna work in your favor.

If you're Beth, you're gonna take the entire tearpad.

Usually, that's unintentional. More often than not, she'll lead you to believe the entire tearpad just fell apart at the seam, landed into her lap, and it was fate giving this lovely bounty of coupons to her [[hey, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It actually works out well for me. If a tearpad hadn't fallen in her hand, I would have never had a ton of the CVS Duracell coupons]].

But, the particular incident I'm talking about now [[is this "ye ole" stuff really working for anyone?]] ... it has to do with Cottenelle samples.

Cottenelle had a cardboard display stuffed with thick samples. They had to be thick because not only is it a $1 coupon, it's also a few squares of toilet paper. This is seriously the perfect freebie ... just in case you get yourself into the unfortunate predicament of being in a public stall without TP, well, you could just reach into your purse, pull out this sample, and leave the restroom a happy lady.

I took two and handed one to Beth. When we realized the greatness of this sample, I reached back to grab another pair. Well, there's a flap in the back of the sample that got stuck to the sample below it ... and a handful of samples started coming out at me. I stuffed them back in and figured this was not meant to be.

Beth, however, decided that I'm bad at sample grabbing, but she's an expert, so she reached. The next thing I know, the entire cardboard display comes crashing down. She picked it up and ran out of the aisle.

Since this was the second display that fell victim to Beth, I turned to yell, "Stop breaking things" at her. I only got as far as "Stop ... " when I turned ... and elbowed some lady pretty hard in the side. I thought it was Beth, but then I realized she was practically on the other side of Kmart by that time.

Oops.

Picture Books

Photo books are fantastic. I made a ton last summer at CVS -- when they were free after ecb -- and I just absolutely love how they turned out.

Right now, you can make one and get another free by using the code BOGO book on CVS' photo site. This promo goes between now and April 27. Go make two and trust me, you'll be hooked after the first one.

If you miss that deadline, head over to Shutterfly and you can get 20% off photo books between now and May 5 by using the code CELEBRATE at checkout. Between now and April 27, that code will also give you 15% off cards and stationary.

Kelloggs Special K

This week at Target [[04/26-05/02]], Special K cereal 11.4 to 14 oz, 6-ct Special K bars, and selected cookies and crackers are on sale for $2.39 each. And if you buy five items you get a $5 Target gift card. There are lots of Kellogg's coupons out there.

I plan to get five boxes of cereal for a total of $11.95 and use 5 $1/1 Kellogg's cereal coupons so my out of pocket is $6.95 and I will get $5 gift card back. That will make each box be $.39. Great deal! I really hope they have the new blueberry flavor. That is so good.

Our Newest Diva

We've had some very exciting news for you lately, and we're not stopping with our coupon database.

We're adding a new Diva: Kristie. Email her at drugstoredivakristie(at)gmail.com to make her feel welcome.

She's one of our loyal readers, so much that she passed around our URL at her Easter dinner [[so, if Kristie's family is reading this: Hello!]]. She's really good at shopping Kmart -- and CVS [[she actually verified the Dove deal quicker than I did, and beating me on anything CVS is a big accomplishment]].

She's awesome and witty and is going to add so much to this blog, you'll be thrilled to have her here. I know we all are. So send her an email to say hello, leave her a comment, or just read her posts and save some money [[so you can spend it on things that are way more fun than toothpaste]].

And from all of us at Drugstore Divas: Kristie, welcome to the team =]

Walgreens [[week of 04/26 to 05/01]]

Walgreens has some great deals this upcoming week [[04/26 to 05/01]]. Nivea body wash is $4.99 and is giving a $4.99 RR. But it gets better: There are lots of coupons out there for Nivea. Check our new coupon database to make this a moneymaker.

Ecotrin tablets are $2 and are giving $2 RR. And of course there is a $1 off coupon to make this another moneymaker. Rembrandt toothpaste or mouthwash is $5.99 and is giving a $5.99 RR. I can't believe toothpaste is $5.99. Anyone know if this is the best toothpaste ever or what? No coupons on that one but it is still free.

I saved the best deal for last. If you buy a Bayer Breeze2 or Contour Meter for $14.99 you get $5 back in RR. There are coupons out there for up to $30 off the meters. So the meters are free after the coupon and you get $5 RR for buying them. That is a huge moneymaker. These meters are the diabetic testing meters. If you are not able to use them, you can donate them to a school, nursing home, homeless shelter, or animal hospital.

Get your coupons ready and get to Walgreens early and often this week. Remember only one register reward will print per item per order so don't try to buy two Nivea body washes at once. So you have to make a couple trips if you want more than one of these items, but they are paying you after all.

I'm A Coupon Slave For You

Since I love you, my dear readers, more than my own eyesight, I typed in the coupons from Sunday, April 26 into our new coupon database. There's one SS and one RP insert.

There are two SS inserts in that picture, and that's because my dad found a SS insert at work Friday night, so he brought it home, and it got added for you. There's a Dole Parfait coupon in there. It didn't come in my paper, just one from Brooklyn. Like I just told Carolyn, "What's up Dole? Everybody likes parfait!"

Anyway, enjoy the coupons and the database. I'm gonna be out all day today, so if there's a coupon in your paper that I'm missing, comment it or drop me an email and I'll get back to you and have the coupon entered on Monday.

Wolverine's Razor

Hugh Jackman is usually caught with a bit of scruff, so the fact that his latest movie is being used to promote a razor is a bit ironic to me.

Then again, his movie is about a mutant with retracting bone claws, so maybe it's not ironic.

In either case, if you head over to Schick's Web site, you can register for a free Titanium razor thanks to X-Men Origins: Wolverine [[hmmm ... are his claws made from titanium?]]. Schick often has promotions, and I've never once gotten one from them, but hey, it only takes a minute to sign up.

Vitalize Your Skin

I'm gonna hope my aunt doesn't read this blog because, if she does, she's gonna know just how cheap her Mother's Day present is gonna be.

The Dove Skin Vitalizer is usually $12.99 at CVS. This week, it's a mere $4 -- and there was a $3.50 coupon a few weeks ago.

So, that makes it 50 cents. Some people were lucky enough to get a $2.50 CRT, making this a two dollar money maker.

I know, we're a little late on this, so stop reading and starting running to CVS.

Salon Style Hair

I bought a 40 in CVS the other day. No, no, not that kinda 40, a 40 oz. bottle of Tresemme shampoo -- and a matching conditioner.

Tresemme is on sale for 3/$10 this week, and even the super huge vats of shampoo are included. Buy three and get back $5. That's the deal.

But see those little mini-hair sprays in the photo. Well, those are only $1.99. And if you buy three, you still get back $5 in ecb. So it's costing you a mere 97 cents for three of those little boys.

The trial-sized shampoos for 99 cents don't work. My mom tried.

My Kmart Doubles Damage

My total out of pocket for this round of Kmart doubles/triples is $12.93. Part of that is because my Clorox $.75 off coupons would not scan and I really like that stuff so it was okay. I really cannot post out everything that I got 'cause, well, you see the pictures. Sorry I do not have a year to list all the stuff I bought.

The picture is really not that great because there was just too much stuff. And there are a few things missing from the picture because I needed to take gum to work and my husband was home all day and stole the Propel, Pringles, and who knows what else! Overall I did so well and now my house will smell good forever and my cats will have treats for the next year! I do plan to donate some of the stuff to my local SPCA.

Satuday Sample: Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine For Lips

I like Sally Hansen. It's affordable and pretty good as far as nail polish goes. So when the lip stuff was on sale, I figured I'd go for it.

Mistake.

The Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine for Lips, this week's Saturday Sample, isn't worth the money. It is very enticing, I have to say. I bought a crystal gloss [[okay, it's clear, but the packaging calls it crystal, and that sounds so much cooler]]. I applied it, and, while it does give my lips a nice shine, it's so ridiculously thick.

How thick? Let's put it this way. I touched it and my fingers were pretty much bound together. I washed my hands and still it was like some type of molasses-like substance was on my fingertips. There's no way I wanted that on my lips.

Now yes, the beauty experts do say the stickier the gloss, the better is stays on, but this is inhumane torture. Since it was binding my fingers together, I was worried my lips might be sealed shut. And, if you're wearing this prior to kissing, well, I'm not sure there's a single man who wants this stuff on his lips.

Going Back To PA

Part of me has this overwhelming desire to go back to Pennsylvania today. Kmart was great, but it took up so much of my time, I pretty much didn't get a chance to see anyone or anything besides Beth and Kmart. Plus, I didn't have my mom's coupons, and I could have done so much damage with those.

But I really want to go back for Wegmans.

Today, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., if you bring a plastic bag filled with plastic bags, you'll get a free reusable tote
.

There are also going to be stations around the store, giving out samples and teaching you about green options. There are usually samples anyway at Wegmans, and the man who gives them out at my Wegmans in Pennsylvania is just the sweetest ever.

I might have to go back for that.

Updating The Database

Hopefully you guys have gotten a chance to check out our coupon database. If you look to the right, it's over there. Click that link, you'll be happy.

Just so you know, I spent most of last night updating it. I did go out [[don't worry; I didn't spend my entire Friday night typing in coupons]].

Here's what's there so far:
Smart Source: 03/22/09, 03/29/09, 04/05/09, 04/19/09
Red Plum: 03/29/09, 04/05/09, 04/19/09

The earlier I go back, the more I'm going to be missing because I actually use quite a bit of my coupons. So, if you see a missing coupon, drop me an email to let me know.

Also, I know some of you are gonna wanna bookmark that link and have easy access to it, but the way it is, that's probably not the best idea. You're gonna wanna come to Drugstore Divas and access the database from here. Plus, it gives us another page view, and for the hour or so it takes to enter each insert, well, giving me another page view is a nice way to say thanks. Paying my doctor's bill in a few years when I find out I have carpal tunnel is another.

All For You

Walmart puts out a monthly magazine called All You, which contains a ton of coupons. It actually has really interesting recipes in it too, but that's a different point.

This weekend -- April 25 and 26 -- Walmart is holding an All You event. There are going to be free samples from Schick and Poise.

Head over to the site to see which day the event is happening at your Walmart.

Baby Savings

Tis the season to have babies. Fa la la la la la my wal-let hurts.

It seems like everyone I know has decided to go and get pregnant and pop out a baby this year. It doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon [[although now I'm looking at 2010 babies, I hope]]. So, if there's a deal on baby stuff, I have no choice but to pick it up.

Right now at CVS, Johnson's Cucumber Melon baby lotion is on sale for 75% off. It's regularly $4.49, so it's $1.12 after the sale. There's a $1 coupon from the 02/22 and 03/08 RPs, so that means you're looking at 12 cents for this 15 ounce bottle. Yup, I can afford that. Now if only I could find more on the shelves.

We Have A Coupon Database

I could give you some flashy intro here, but I just don't have the energy for it.

Why, you wonder?

Because I just spent the last two hours setting up Drugstore Diva's coupon database. Yup, that's right folks, we have a database. You can click this link here or you can look over to the right side, right above my savings total, and there's a link over there.

So, what's a coupon database, you ask. Well, it's basically an alphabetical list of all the coupons that we've come in contact with. Right now, it only has the SS and RP coupons from 04/19, but that'll be expanding once I can see straight.

Let's say Yoplait yogurt is on sale at your store and you wanna see if there's a coupon for it. You open our database, scroll down to the Y section, and find Yoplait. You'll see the date of the insert it was in, plus which insert. You'll also see the coupon's value and expiration date. We don't have printables in there just yet, but slow and steady wins the race.

Once you start using it, you'll realize what a valuable resource it is.

If there's a coupon from your paper that you don't see -- or if you got a sample with a coupon or you found a printable we're missing -- feel free to email me at drugstoredivalisa(at)gmail.com and I'll be sure to add in what you find. Just be sure to let me know what the coupon's good for, where to find it, its expiration date, and its value.

But, right now, if you don't mind, hold off on emailing me any insert coupons that came out before April 19. I figure I'm starting from here forward and I'll get to the older coupons on a rainy day.

Enjoy!

Attention Weis Shoppers

While all my grocery stores double coupons up to $1, we never have great deals like Kroger, Harris Teeter or A&P. There are never triple coupon events ... well, unless you count this week at Kmart. But I don't buy food there.

Good news for our Weis grocery stores. In the ad for this week [[04/23 to 04/30]], there are three coupons on the front that will triple manufacturer's coupons up to $1. Combine that with some of the price freezes, sale items, or just cheap stuff and you have either free or a great deal at the grocery store. It's not a lot but at least it is something.

The Last Drop

Here's your last chance to get your Seattle's Best Coffee fix. Seriously. It's over after this. So why not take some to go? Oh, the store has thought of everything.

From today until April 26, if you buy a 12-oz. or larger bag of coffee, you'll get a free medium beverage. So take that cup to go, then start brewing at home -- and give yourself your own deals on coffee in May.

Triples Savings

If you're lucky enough to live close to a Harris Teeter, get your coupons clipped.

It's been confirmed that Harris Teeter is having triples from Wednesday, April 29 to Tuesday, May 5.

You saw how exciting my triples trip to A&P was, so let's see how great you can do at Harris Teeter.

No Swallowing Here

I'm one of those people who has trouble swallowing pills. There should be a support group because it actually is a problem reported by 40% of adults.

Bayer has decided to make an easy way to remedy this: powdered aspirin.

I'm serious.

It goes by the name "Quick Release Crystals," and you basically open a packet, pour it on your tongue, and wait for the pain to stop [[pain you had pre-aspirin, not because of it]].

For me, it's like a dream come true. It's much more sensical than chewing aspirin, which is my only remedy. So thanks Bayer for making a product I actually now covet, and thanks CVS for making the four-pack free after ecb.

Yup, it's $2 and gives $2 back, and if you find yours on a cardboard display hanging on an end cap, there's a coupon for $1 off, making this not only the best product ever, but also a money maker.

Get A(-Roid) Free Razor

I was raised a Mets fan, so that means I like two baseball teams: The Mets and anyone that's beating the Yankees.

So, it kinda pains me to put the Yankees on this page, but it gives me an excuse to post that picture of A-Roid from Details, so somehow, all is right in the world.

Onto the freebie ... if you text Gillette to 56418 during a Yankees game, you'll get a code to enter on Gilette's site for a free Fusion razor.

You'll probably get a lot of time to do this. Yankees games tend to go pretty long when the other team is up to bat.

Cash In

Every so often, Kohl's gives out Kohl's cash. This is that so often.

Between now and April 27, for every $50 you spend, you'll get $10 in Kohl's cash that can be redeemed in-store between April 28 and May 6.

Mother's Day is coming up. Just something to keep in mind.
